Chapter 22

I felt the warm, familiar buzz of his magic on me, poking at different organs to check their vitality.

He opened in eyes, a confused frown etched on his face, "there's no hint of poison in your bloodstream”, he glared at me," why raise a false alarm if what you want is a touch from me?

All you would have done is ask nicely”, he smiled.

"Shut up!" I darkly glared at him. before my mind took on another lane.

I tried to process his words.

How on Makoha isn't the food poisoned?

It must be a mistake, maybe his magic is weaning due to hunger

“Are you certain there's no poison in my bloodstream?”

It might be a mistake, one can never be too sure in life

“Your body system says so”, he frowned, “why will you think you were poisoned?" he sat up from the bed he collapsed on after my poison check.

“The food I ate last night was given to me by Blondie”, I blushed at my conned name for hi

“ Who's Blondie? Anyone I know?” he looked genuinely worried.

That comes from serving a prince who was nearly, or thought to, poisoned

“The werewolf guy who came in with the vampire”, he can't have seen them as they walked in.

His eyes widened in realization, his teeth clenching in anger, "I can see you want to die.

Why will you eat a meal given to you by a stranger, a werewolf at that?” his shout made me flinch.

The gesture wasn't lost on him “am I apologize for using such tune on you, but your careless behaviour leaves me no choice."

He paced the floors, flaring his hands as he talked, “you are a high prince for gods' sake, and you should act like one.

You were taught the dangers of trusting blindly, yet you did it without blinking an eye, not a second for a single thought.

I can tell how angry he is, my carelessness as he pure it would have had a major consequence on him, as my aide he has to protect me.

“I was hungry, okay? And I took the food because of the gentlemanly way he approached me”, this doesn't justify my actions, but it may plead my case a little.

“Your hunger doesn't give you the right to act without thinking”, he sat on an armchair, “you could have at least told me that night when I came out to check on you.

I didn't ask further about why you were outside because I thought it was a maid checking on you, not a wolf in sheep's clothing. You know better than to trust a wolf, they're as cunning as a fox”

My thoughts last night, but I can't tell him that, he will probably turn my thoughts against me.

“Am sorry okay”, I don't know what I am apologizing for, but it doesn't matter, he wants to hear an apology from me before he drops the subject, “I won't repeat the same mistake”, I smiled.
