Chapter 109

"Have you gotten a helper's mark yet?", I smiled at him, but my smile dropped the moment I looked at his crestfallen face.

"What's wrong Kwofo? didn't you get your mark?", it's not unheard of people not getting their marks on their birthday especially when your supposed helper isn't anywhere near where you are; even if your helper happens to be underaged, you will get the mark albeit it won't be as bold as when your said helper comes up on age.

He sadly shook his head, "my mark haven't appeared yet", he gave me a forced smile, "I was hoping my helper will be a little underage; if that was the case, my mark would have appeared albeit dimmer until my helper comes of age.

It not being visible means my helper isn't in close range with me", he said those words like it's the saddest news of the moon.

" Cheer up", I gave him an encouraging smile, "you will meet your helper sooner or later Kwofo, don't give up hope on finding her, she might be nearer than you think".

Reddy and Blondie were still sitting in the chair without any indication of giving up their position any moment from now.

It's as if they both are glued to the chairs making it difficult for them to stand whenever they want to.

"That's the problem Buchim; I don't want a helper who isn't in close proximity with me. I hoped to have one( a helper) in someone close to me!", his outburst surprised me; never have he raised his voice this high at me.

This helper of a thing must be frustrating him real bad for him to have an outburst as this.

Blondie snorted, "in close proximity my foot", he snickered.

I gave him a glare that made him shut up real fast; it's always like him to make fun of every situation.

"Mind your own damn business all knowing Blondie, your contribution wasn't asked for", I gave him a cold smile ( I think the smile I gave him felt cold, but I don't know if there's really a thing like a cold smile).

He raised both hands in mock surrender, "I won't say anything more", he made a motion of zipping mouth, padlocking the said mouth, and throwing the keys away.

"Better for you", I said as I turned back towards Kwofo who was busy glaring holes at Blondie.

Blondie on the other hand was giving him a real smug look; when he caught eyes with me, he gave me an almost convincing innocent smile.

Reddy was busy with his finger nails, but I can't tell he's listening to everything happening around him; he sharp senses makes him do that without sweating.

"It's okay Kwofo, remember you're the one that told me everything happens for a reason. It's time to really believe in your words; the gods might have planned a destiny you know nothing of for you", I smiled, " you have to wait to find out what they have in store for you".
