Chapter 398

I first internally rolled my eyes at my mates before I agreed to follow them in to prevent my mates from doing what they threatened to do.

If we're back at our safe haven, I would have teased them till they snapped, but now isn't the time for such plays at all.

"Okay, let's go. I need to have a long rest," I yawned to show them how tired I truly am.

" If you will follow me, " the man turned to go, and we followed suit after him.

Behind the gate was I man I believe to be the one who was asking us those questions. He must have been the one who called this one who was helping us now.

As we walked past him, I gave him a small gratefully smile. One that made my mates lowly growl behind me.

I pretended not to hear their noisy displeasure, instead I walked on with Ije who have her entire focus on the older male in front of us.

The village was filed with mud houses whose zincs are thatch.

" This place looks really ancient, " I whisper to Ije who have already let go of her hold on me.

It seems she saw the glares my mates were throwing her way. That's the only thing that explains why she let go of my hands like one holding on to fire.

"This place was built during the great wars, and since then we've not ventured far from our town. That might be the reason for our laid back life." The man answered.

I nod at his explanation " it's not difficult to believe that's the case seeing how ancient the place is. My kin.. the mountain we came from looks really different from this. We have caves made of white stones.

Never have I seen a cave as red and old as this."

I almost exposed my cover when I almost made mention of the kingdom I ran away from.

" Caves are more stronger than this, and moreover these houses are made of red soil digged at the river. There's enough supply of red soil at the river."

" River? there's a river close by?"

The thought of the refreshing cool river is enough to make me salivate like never before.

"Yes. It's not too far from here."

As we walked, people dressed in the traditional apa as the man leading us, started coming out from the mud houses. An awe look on their faces as they looked at us as if they've never had visitors before.

I don't think they've had visitors before.

We might be the first strangers to ever visit this place. That must he the reason they're gawking at us.

Blondie says through our bond.

I've never been so appreciative of the bond we share as I was now.

It helped me communicate with my mates without anyone being aware of it.

Who knows what would have happened if we didn't share the bond?

I don't think we would have been able to communicate as we did now.
