We continued on with our journey. This time sticking close to the shadows after we traded our scarves for red hats.
Blondie made the exchange because most people have seen us with the scarves. Wearing it as we escape will make us look more suspicious than ever.
This time around, we didn't take the busy streets instead Blondie took us deeper into the run down area of his kingdom. .
The houses in this place looks as if they're in the process of collapsing from the elements.
Am afraid none of this structures will stand the test of time if it's asked to. They look as if a single blow of the wind can uproot them their foundations.
"Where's this place?" I looked at Blondie who have a look of concentration on his face.
"This is the street of commons. It's a place where the ills of the society, the homeless and mutts live. That's why it's the best place for us to escape through. No one will suspect us of knowing a place like this.
As a prince no one would have thought I've for once stepped my foot in this place." Blondie's voice was low but not low enough for us not to clearly hear his words.
"Wait!" Blondie suddenly stopped. Looking around he gestured for us to enter into one of the houses on our right, and we did despite my fears of the house caving in on us.
Inside the smelly dust filled house that looked like it have been ransacked countless times by people, we were shocked to find two small children hurdled close to each other in fear.
"Shh," Blondie threw a golden coin their way when it seems the older one was about to shout.
The child looked at us in suspicion. The eyes looking more wiser and advanced in age than the body that housed it.
i guess life on the streets couldn't be all that filled with honey and sweet things.
The smaller one had on a brown looking rag. The clothings look as if the child have been wearing it for a long time.
The tears on the tag was enough to contain all of us if we think to hide on the holes.
Their skinny sunken face was enough to make me legit shed tears at the suffering written on their faces.
Seeing them made me feel real bad about the times I acted all spoilt. It made me regret those days I always acted like the universe was against me.
It wasn't against me.
Looking at the children made me forget the dangers outside. It made me momentarily forget all about our flights.
All were forgotten until we heard footsteps outside the rundown house we ran into.
"Are you sure you saw them walk through here?"
From the cracks in the door we can make out the silhouette of two men.
"It might not be the ones you're looking for, but there were fine looking people who walked past here just minutes ago.
