CHAPTER 57

Martin really wanted to sleep. 

He slept silently as Ruth watched trying not to scream with lots of agonies. Ruth finally fell asleep. She wanted to get heal faster. 

She had a lot of dreams and visions to do once she got well. She would give Martin the go ahead to give the power of the closer gates to Magdalene. They would then find a peaceful place to continue with their life. 

Ruth could not stop thinking about all those beautiful things especially when she felt a bit well. 

What she could not understand was the reason why she did not see the person who helped her to get to the hospital?

It was still a thought that kept ringing on her mind. 

She was too tired and therefore decided to sleep. 

Faith could not sleep. She kept wondering the consequences of her action. 

What if Martin learnt the truth? 

In her waking mood, she saw a shadow pass past her room. She tensely followed it till somebody held her mouth and led her to the private room written X. It once made Ruth filled with lots of curiosity about what was really there. 

The unknown person gave Faith the keys to open the door and locked it once they both entered. 

" I know that you are really wondering what is going on here . Now listen to me. I know that you are the one who tried to kill Ruth. If you want this secret to be maintained, then you must make sure that Martin gets back to me" said Tere in a threatening voice. 

Faith widened her eyes in disbelief. She could not believe that Tere had come back to the closer gates through her own means..

" Tere! Tere! My brother a hundred percent hates you. How do you expect me to do wnat you ask me to do? Do you have evidence that I am the one who tried to do that? I will do no such thing Tere. Let me just be totally sent to the cell of hell and suffer all of my consequences" said Faith. 

" You tough headed young girl. We will see about that. I know that it is hard to stand in a situation of a murder. We do not know what action would be taken in your case. Therefore I urge you to be very careful. You need to be or else you will land in a total unacceptable trouble. You might even be stoned to death" said Tere who opened the door and pushed her outside. 

Tere left later and locked the door. She seemed to walk with much confidence than before. Faith went straight to her room and slept as tears welled down her eyes. 

The next morning, Faith went straight to the study and waited for Martin to arrive. Martin indeed arrived a few minutes later. He was surprised to see Faith seated there who seemed to be a little bit tensed. 

" What brings my eldest child in my study as early as this? Did you have a bad dream? Has someone offended you here at the closet gates? Just mention the person and I will ensure that the person indeed suffers serious consequences. You don't know what I am really capable of " said Martin who seemed to be clear by his threats. 

" Yes! It's Tere . I though that you had chased her away from the closer gates and ex communicated her. What was she doing here yesterday? In my room and at room X. She threatened me so much. You must look for her and stop her Tere or else just send me back to the states. There I willfo d a lot of peace" said Faith filled with lots of frustruation. 

" She indeed right Martin. I also think that you should send Faith to the states .Let her come back once the investigations are over. It will be better for the closer gates and for everyone . It would be better for her. She is my sister-in-law and I do not want her to suffer emotionally" said Ruth who seemed to be so much confident by her words. 

 Martin was astonished by their words. He turned towards the window and was astonished to see Tere passing by. 

He called out on Lady Akeshia. He ordered her to call Haggai onto the study at once. 

He ordered Faith to assist Ruth back to their matrimonial room. 

His fury level was increasing. He could not believe that it was Haggai who was indeed helping out Tere. Haggai came as soon as he could and entered the study. 

" I thought I told you to get rid of Tere. Tell me what Tere was doing here at the closer gates on the might that Ruth was stabbed. Can you tell me that? Can I know the reason why Tere was seen in the mansion yesterday?" Asked Martin angrily.

" I don't know Sir. I truly got rid of her. I truly made he to leave the closer gates. I wonder why you think that I am the one who has been helping her" said Haggai who seemed confident like never before.

" How should I trust you? You once had an affair with my wife. You seem too proud since you don't have a family but......no no no....you have a big family. You have a son which people treasure the most over here. I wish that I was just like you. You might have helped her get in . That is still none of my business, get out of my sight" Martin said and continued checking through his files. 

He checked through them and realized that one of his files was missing. He did not want to ask his wife since he knew that he would add more stress to her yet he cared about her and did not want her blood pressure to increase and be high. He left the study and went to the garden to calm himself down. He knew that if he bumped into Ruth then he would pour all his anger and unlike things towards her.  

MARTIN'S POV.

You little girl. You've driven me crazy beyond reasonable doubts. I do not know what I could have done without you. I have grown to love you too much and it pains me that you are hiding the secret of the person who had harm you from me. How could you do such a thing to me? Don't you trust your own husband. Do you think that I am too harsh and would not treat other people's children in the right way. Don't put it in yourself to judge like other people do. All I want is for you to tell me all the truth about it. 

Martin sat on the garden and kept crying a lot. He was truly hurt by what had taken place. He slept on the garden for a long period of time. 

Faith peeped through the window and saw Martin sleeping by the garden. She felt very frustruated. She could not stop blaming herself for what had happened. 

She went to Martin's matrimonial room to look for Ruth. She found Ruth seated on a wheelchair reading through some novels that she had asked Martin to buy for her. 

" Thank you for everything Ruth. Thank you for your being able to keeo my secret. But I do love my brother too much and I do not want to hurt him. That is why I am going to tell him that I am the one who tried to stab him and........." Said Faith who was interrupted by Martin who had locked the door. 

Faith kept begging by nodding her head. She did not really mean to kill her. 

" I know that she did not really mean to do it. Trust me Martin. This big secret can remain between the three of us. Faith is like my sister and I would not want anything wrong to happen to her" said Ruth crying. 

" No! She is a murderer. I am sure that she is a murderer. How can you do this Faith?" Said Martin crying. 

" I am so sorry Martin. I promise you that this will never happen again. I will die my best to ensure that this will never happen. I am sorry Ruth . I am sorry Martin. Find it in your heart to forgive me please" said Faith kneeling down. 

Martin helped Faith to stand up and hugged her emotionally. 

It was a feeling of emotion and everybody in the room cried. 

" I am sorry. I am so so sorry. I am sorry Ruth . You are indeed a good and wonderful person. I am sure that you are making a good wife to my brother" said Faith as she went close to Ruth. 

Ruth held her arm and assured Faith that everything was going to be alright. 

Family secrets were meant to be kept but some like Tere's were meant to be discarded to the public. That was how life was.
