CHAPTER 89

Ruth felt that Magdalene was right and she needed to know her origin. She resoluted that they will not leave the house.

She immediately left her room and went to the garden where she found out that Naomi was seated there holding a red flower as she pecked it. The house was designed by Naomi who insisted that there should be a garden. She loved flowers and spending most of her times in the garden which she was not able to do at the closer gates.

Ruth sat beside Naomi and hugged her. She felt guilty that she had never taken time to understand her own family. Ruth now understood the main reason why Naomi insisted that the house should be painted green and cream.

Naomi removed Ruth's arm from her neck. She did not want to be hugged but Ruth since she was deeply angry with her.

" I have decided that we will not leave this house mama. This is the place where you grew up and grandma has explained to me everything. Where was my grandpa burried?" Asked Ruth filled with lots of curiosity.

Naomi looked at Ruth astonished. She wondered how Ruth resoluted to ask such kind of a question. She left the garden and Ruth followed her closely. She went to the backyard and stood barefoot on the ground.

" This where my papa was buried but his grave dissapeared because we couldn't take good care of it. I am not sure here or there or where you are stepping was the place he was buried. It was all my fault since I was angry with both Mama and Papa when they were still at the cell of hell" said Naomi as tears welled down her eyes.

Ruth went closer to Naomi but Naomi resisted and pushed her away. She did not want anything to do with Ruth.

" I said am sorry" said Ruth who seemed apologetic.

" You are not to be blamed. I am the one who is supposed to be blamed for everything. I left my mother at the cell of hell for so many years and allowed my own daughter to get married at the age of sixteen" said Naomi crying.

" No mama. I indeed not blame you for getting  me married at the age of sixteen. Getting married gave me a daughter and the love of my life. Mama! I love Martin with whole of my heart and I will not hesitate to do anything just for him" said Ruth who went closer to Naomi.

Ruth assisted Naomi to wear her shoes. She held Naomi's arm and led her back to the house. They found Magdalene seated at parlor full of sorrow. Magdalene had overheard everything they were saying.

" I do not blame you for anything Naomi. I do not blame you for believing that your mother was a witch at that time. I already forgave you for leaving me and your father at that time when we were farmed and taken to the cell of hell. I do not blame you for getting Ruth married at the age of sixteen. I knew that Ruth truly loved Martin but yet she failed to fight for her marriage. She chose her family instead. That is the greatest difference between the both of you. Enough with yjta subject and let's continue to live like a family" said Magdalene.

Both Ruth and Naomi went close to Magdalene and wiped her feet as a sign of appreciation. Magdalene touched their heads as a sign of blessings she was giving to them that she had accepted their appreciation.

Tere on the other hand was celebration the fact that she had won. She held a feast at the mansion and invited Akeshia and Purist as a sign of mocking them. She hired dancers whom she claimed that their dancing was a form of appreciation to Purist as to how she had pushed Ruth away from the closer gates.

" You have done great thing by pushing Ruth out of the closer gates. That is the the main why I have called these dancers to entertain you as a sign of appreciation. You have truly prover that you are a great daughter of mine" said Tere as she handed wine over to Purist.

Purist took the wine and put it on top of the table. She was never fond of drinking wine.

" Do you know why I pushed Ruth away? It's because I did not want you to hurt her and her family. It's not because I am angry with her for divorcing Papa. I understand everything that she did. She did all those things because she was angry at my Papa and I deeply understand her. I could have done the same if I were her. You called Grandma to mock her here? Then I  have returned the favour by mocking you instead" said Purist who left to her room.

Tere was angry and this made her to chase everyone away and declare the meeting over. Haggai who had been seated silent stood and went towards Tere. He held Tere's arm tightly till Tere yelled but Haggai did not want to listen to her. He led Tere to the matrimonial room and locked the door without knowing that Vela was seated at a corner in the room playing with her toys.

" You thought that you had won? Why did you dismiss everyone at the feast? I thought that you were a clever woman but today you have proved to me how much you are narrow minded" said Haggai.

" Hag......" Said Tere but Haggai interrupted her and slapped her.

Vela who had been watching the whole incident came and knelt before Haggai which astonished Haggai.

" Please don't hurt my mama. You have always done nothing but hurt her" said Vela crying.

Haggai was still filled with lots of anger .he pushed Vela away till she hit her head on the wall. She finally fell down and went on conscious. Tere went towards her and tried to woke her up but Vela did not respond to her.

" You have killed her. I will not let you get away with this. You have killed my only daughter whom I loved very much" said Tere crying as she kept hitting Haggai on his chest.

Haggai stopped her and pushed her away. He immediately carried Vela and put her on top of the bed. He called for the doctor who did not hesitate to come. He came as quickly as he could since he feared Haggai. Who could fear him? He was if the greatest warriors known not only inside the closer gates but outside the closer gates as well.

The doctor chased Vela and nodded his head filled with lots of sadness.

" We have lost her. Vela is dead and I am sure that you would both want to take her for confirmation at the hospital. You all feel free to do so. My condolences to the family and may her would rest in peace" said the doctor.

Haggai carried Vela an took her to the car accompanied by Tere and Purist. Thye hotj arrive ta the hospital and Vela was taken to the emergency room immediately. She was declared dead on arrival.

" Can I see her doctor?" Asked Purist filled with lots if curiosity.

She wanted to declare her last respects to Vela even though they had never been on good terms when she was alive.

" Where do you think you are going? I will not allow you to see my Vela. She was supposed to be my pride and joy" said Tere crying.

" Today I will not listen to you. My mother has killed her own daughter and my beloved sister. Even though we were not on good terms, I still loved her since she was my own sister. I must go and pay her last respects whether you people like it or not" said Purist who entered the emergency room.

She cried as soon as she saw Vela's helpess body. She held her arm but Vela could not respond. Before she could say anything, the doctor entered and claimed that her body needed to be taken to the morgue.

" No! We have a morgue at the closer gates. There we will put our daughter and buried her at the closer gates" said Haggai.

" But...." Said the doctor but Haggai immediately interrupted.

" I want my daughter" said Haggai in a commanding voice.

" We can take her to the closer gates using our ambulance" said the doctor.

" No! I will carry my daughter myself" said Haggai who took Vela and left the hospital accompanied by Tere and Purist.

Everybody at the closer gates stayed closer at the mansion as they waited for Vela. As soon as they arrived, Haggai carried Vela and took her to the mansion. He immediately put her on top of her bed in her room.

"We are supposed to take my sister to the morgue" said Purist a bit worried.

" No Purist. My daughter will stay here and will be buried just in this room. I will no allow my daughter to be taken to the morgue and stay with the people of the closer gates sand the servants. I will being the doctor who will be taking care of he still we bury her" said Haggai who left the room.

Tere and Purist nodded their head in disbelief. They found it hard to believe that Haggai Vela not to be taken to the morgue.
