CHAPTER 104

Ryan widened his eyes in disbelief because he knew that it was hard to convince Ruth. He did not know how he would make Ruth understand that the ritual was hard to reverse.

Ruth felt that she should control Tere about the whole issue. She left the house as Ryan followed her closely behind since Ryan felt that Ruth was going to do something bad. Ruth arrived at Mambo cell and was astonished to find the gates of mambo cell where Tere and Nurse Peninah had been kept was fully open. She entered the cell and searches for them but they were nowhere to be found. 

" See! Do you now see what you have done Ryan? I have to go back to Olam and bring my mama and grandma a long with me. They are the only people that I have and I cannot afford to loose them" said Ruth who left the cell but Ryan stopped her by holding her arm backwards.

He pushed Ruth towards him and hugged her. This made Ruth to be more angrier and she immediately pushed him away from her and slapped him. 

" What do you think of yourself Ryan? That you did the right thing by taking Tere to the cell. I told you so many times to let her go but you did not listen to me thinking that you were doing is the best. I know her and she killed my father and siblings. Do you know that till now I have never got the justice that I deserve? That is the main reason why you have to let me go and take care of my family" said Ruth as tears welled down her eyes. 

" Ruth! I have always thought that you would give me time to prove that I want the best for you. Haven't you realized it? I love you so much Ruth. I have loved you ever since I set my eyes in you. I did not want to tell you this at this time but circumstances have forced. I don't even fear death when it comes to the love I have for you" said Ryan.

" You love me! Well, I might as well tell you that my love is only for Martin. It is only him that I can spare time for" said Ruth who left. 

She went back to the house and started packing her clothes. She felt that she needed to go to Olam town immediately and check on Naomi and Magdalene. As soon as she finished, she sent and tried to open the door of her room but she was shocked as the room was locked from the outside. 

" Ryan! Ryan! You have to open this door" shouted Ruth as she kept kicking the door but the door did not open.

Ruth kept shouting until she felt that there was no need to shout anymore since it seemed that no one heard her. Ruth waited till evening where she finally heard someone trying to open the door. She immediately as t to the door and wanted to slap the person thinking that it was Ryan but she was astonished to find out that it was Magdalene and Naomi. 

" Where is Ryan?" Asked Ruth angrily. 

" Ryan! He left and said that he needed to close the boundaries of Mambo town. He also says that everybody's lives including ours is in danger. He went to buy some items that he would use to close the boundaries. He says that a big attack will be coming" said Naomi filled with lots of tension. 

Ruth ushered them inside her room immediately. She unpacked all her clothes and arranged them to the clothes angrily till she tore one of her clothes. Naomi immediately stopped her and tore the clothes more than before. 

" So what! What if Ryan brought me and my mother here? Is it not right that he cares about our family? Are you still hoping that someday you and Martin will be together? I sometimes fail to wonder the kind of person that you are" shouted Naomi at Ruth angrily. 

" Yes Mama! I love Martin. Ryan is definitely doing this because he pities us. There is a difference between pity and love. He only feels that he is in love with me" shouted Ruth at Naomi. 

Naomi left the room angrily. Ruth went towards Magdalene but Magdalene left the room too. Ruth locked her room and sat by the door crying. She felt that it was useless to stay there since Purist had forgotten her and the person that she loved was Martin. She decides to go and look for Ryan. Ruth searched for Ryan the whole house and was astonished to find Ryan preparing a meal in the kitchen. This made Ruth to change her mind and joined him in preparing the meal. 

" I used to do this with Nelly before she went to the traditional function that she went to. I really miss my sister a lot" said Ryan as Ruth started peeling the vegetables. 

" You know what, I am surprised to find you here because my mama and grandma told me that you were closing the boundaries of this town. How comes you are here?" Asked Ruth. 

" Did you know that curiosity killed the cat? Anyway, I have left Lawrence and Vivian incharge" said Ryan smiling. 

" Your sister, Nelly, his long has it been since she left"

" It's only a month but I know that she is going to be back soon. The function was supposed to take a month but I know that she has taken a long time since she is among the winners choosen" said Ryan smiling. 

Ruth was so much lured into the stories till she cut herself and began to bleed. This made Ryan to quickly go to his room and search for the first aid tool kit. He quickly ran back to the kitchen and applied an ointment on her as Ruth kept screamimg. As soon as Ryan finished applying the ointment on her, he covered the wound and carried Ruth to the living room.

" Make sure that you rest inorder for the wound to heal faster. I do not want you in the kitchen till the wound gets healed" said Ryan. 

" Come on Ryan. This js just a simple and you are making it look like a deep wound. His can you ban me from entering the kitchen till I get well yet you know how much I love cooking" said Ruth. 

" Then today you have to obey me. You have to stay here till I finish cooking and serve you"

" Can I atleast watch you cook and maybe give you instructions as to how my Grandma likes her meals made?" Asked Ruth smiling. 

Ryan nodded his head in agreement and carried Ruth to the kitchen the made her to sit into one of the kitchen chairs.

Ruth informed Ryan that Magdalene like food without salt since Magdalene was aging and salt effected her health. Ryan dud exactly as he was instructed and gave Ruth a spoonful of the food to taste. 

" Wow! This is so sweet and this is what dustinguishes you from Martin. Martin does not even know how to cook that much. I am so proud of you Ryan" ssid Ruth smiling. 

" Does that mean that you are going to give me a chance,?" Ryan asked even though he knew that it was difficult to be given a chance. 

" Ryan! I do not want to love you then hurt you at the end. Love us a sweet little thing but then if you have already formed a bond with someone then it becomes hard to break. All what you are left with is  to fight for that love and make sure that it comes back to you no matter where it is hidden" said Ruth. 

" Won't you at least think about it or give me a benefit of doubt?" 

" That's what I wanted to tell you that I am going to do. You are equally not a bad person Ryan and you haven't raised a hand at me even since I came here which means that you respect me so much. Ryan! I don't want the last to repeat itself and it is clear that Lawrence and Vivian do not like me. What about Nelly? Even her idea of liking me is not yet known. I am trying to prevent the past from happening" said Ruth in a pellucid voice. 

Ryan left the kitchen and decided to go and set the table. Ruth followed him and decided to help him despite the many times that Ryan refused.

" Ryan! This food is going to be eaten by my family too and therefore it is wise for me to help where I can" said Ruth. 

At that instant, she got a text from Tere. Tere was claiming that wss using Ruth's car which got stolen and wss not planing to return it at anytime. She also claimed that she will do everything to ensure that Ruth and Faith are in prison. 

' This is not a threat to me but I will make sure I get to the bottom of this' Ruth thought as she switched off her phone and continued asissting Ryan.

Ruth did not want Ryan to notice that the message was from Tere. She felt that Rysn would attempt to do something silly.
