CHAPTER 110
Akeshia decided to go to Mambo town accompanied by Lady Nana without informing Martin. This was simply because she knew that Martin would not let her go if he heard that she was going there. They both boardered a taxi even though they knew that it was the wee hours of the night. They travelled all through the night and arrived at Mambo town the next morning. They were astonished to find out that the boundaries of Mambo town were locked. They knocked on the gates but none of the guards bothered to open the gates since they knew that it was a stranger who had just come to disturb this. They gained this attitude when Ruth denied Haggai acess to Mambo town.
Ruth woke up and went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast but was astonished to find out that Vivian was already there preparing breakfast accompanied by Lawrence. She went towards them and clapped for them.
" What a good thing! That is how we were taught while I was you in Olam town before I got married to Martin. I was told that husband and wife should always cook in the kitchen. Congratulations! Now I have to go for a walk and find out how the guards at the boundary gates are doing" said Ruth smiling.
" Wait! Please take this to the guards. It's lemon tea with an accompaniment of maandazi. After all, you could have been our servant by now of Ryan did not like you and chose you to be one of our guests" said Vivian laughing annoyingly as she gave Ruth the basket.
" I will help you take them Ruth. I do not care if it will also make me a servant like you" said Nelly who assisted Ruth to carry the basket.
They both left to the boundaries where they found the guards seated as Akeshia and Lady Nana kept knocking at the door. Ruth got angry and decided to approach one of the guards angrily.
" What are you doing and people are knocking at the gates? What if it is someone from this community?" Asked Ruth angrily filled with lots of curiosity.
" Sorry Madam Ruth. We did not want to open because we thought that it might be a stranger who is not wanted here just like the other" said the guard in a pellucid voice.
" Please go and open the door" said Ruth in a pellucid voice.
She felt that none of the guards were to be blamed for the ignorance. The guard immediately went to open the gates and Akeshia and Lady Nana immediately entered. They went towards Ruth and hugged her which astonished Ruth who pushed them away till the guards held them so as not to fall.
" What do both of you want here? Can't you all just leave me alone? I think that I am happy here and I hope that you are both not here to convince me to go back to Olam town. I will never go back there" said Ruth in a pellucid voice.
She immediately gave the guards the food and wanted to leave but Akeshia stopped her by holding her arm.
" You cannot leave till you listen to us. We need you back home. We need you back to the closer gates since everything is falling apart. We are even ready to give the closer gates back to your grandmother Magdalene" said Akeshia smiling.
" No! My grandma is not even interested in the closer gates anymore. She is happy here with me and even pursuades me to get married to Ryan. You have just wasted your entire time to come here and try to convince because I am never going back there till I find Purist and bring her back to my arms" said Ruth as held Nelly's arm and left.
Akeshia decided to follow her accompanied by Lady Nana which made Ruth to be filled with lots of anger. She turned towards them and signalled them to leave but they ignored her.
" Why do you find it hard to understand Ruth? She has said that she is not going back to the closer gates and I think that it is better you both respect her decision. This is my territory and I think that I have the right to say who stays and who leaves. Please! I am begging you both to leave my town" said Nelly as she folded her arms.
" We are not leaving here without Ruth and her family. That is my decision" said Akeshia.
" Fine! You have made your decisions. I have no choice than to send you both to Mambo cell for being stubborn. I hope that that will be able to teach you both a lesson" said Nelly angrily.
Nelly immediately ordered two amongst the guards to take both Akeshia and Lady Nana to Mambo cell. Ruth felt bad but still thought that they deserved it for being stubborn. She followed them to the mambo cell and ensured that they were safe.
" Take care of yourselves. We will only get both of you out of here when you have decided to leave this town. Don't get your hopes high because I will never leave this town and that is my promise" said Ruth angrily who left back to the house accompanied by Nelly.
They both found that everbody had already converged at the dining room to take breakfast. The only person that was missing was Faith which made Ruth to be filled with lots of worries. She immediately decided to go to Faith's room and was astonished to find out that she had already woken up and was talking with someone on her phone. Faith switched off her phone immediately filled with lots of tension.
" Ruth! What are you doing here?" Asked Faith who put her phone in her pocket.
" Who are you talking to?" Asked Ruth filled with lots of curiosity.
" Nobody! I mean......that....I am not talking to anybody important. I think I am almost fully recovering and will help you to search for Purist soon. Any updates on her?" Asked Faith.
" No updates. I haven't found something that would link me to her. Can we please go downstairs and take breakfast?" Said Ruth smiling.
Ruth knew that she had lied to Faith. She lost her trust in Faith since she thought that Faith was pretending to be sick. She did not want Faith to have an idea that she saw Purist and even had a conversation with her.
They both went to the dining table and were astonished to find out that there was only one sit remaining. Ruth ushered the sit for Faith and went to pick up stool. She knew that Vivian had done this since she wanted to insult her .
" Take my sit. My mother always taught me to be gentle to my guests" said Vivian smiling.
Ruth assumed her and took her food then left to her room. She never liked to be pitied since she felt that such people only looked down upon her.
At that instant, she got a message from her law firm organisation. They were claiming that if she did not come back to work in the next week then she would loose her job as a lawyer. It made Ruth to be filled with lots of worries since she did not want to loose her job. That job was the job that made her the wealthy person she was. Besides, it gave her a chance to fight for all the girls who were getting married at a younger age.
She immediately went to the dining table and requested to speak to Ryan privately. She felt that Ryan had the right to know what was happening since he gave her shelter and even accepted her.
Ruth led Ryan to the balcony of the house since she knew that they would be able to see any curious person who felt they needed to listen to the conversation.
" Ryan! You have been so good to me and my family but I am afraid that this will be the end. My career is at risk and I know that if I loose it then I will not be able to help the children of my society who get married at a young age. I know that those children still need me. Getting married at a young age is something that is often done in my society by parents who aspire to be rich. I just thought that you needed to know since you gave me a roof over my head. With this, I have been able to also be with my family. I will forever be indebted to you" said Ruth as she hugged Ryan because she was filled with nothing but guilt.
" No! I won't allow you to leave this town because I am going to give you a job. I want you to be the one to handle all cases here at Mambo town" said Ryan smiling.
" But this is not my town Ryan. This is....." Said Ruth but Ryan immediately interrupted.
" This is where you are going to get married and have children" said Ryan.
Ruth widened her eyes in disbelief. She could not understand how Ryan would love somebody from another community whom he knew nothing about.
