CHAPTER 112

Ryan was filled with lots of hapiness. He loved cleanliness and he was glad that he got somebody who would change Nelly's and Vivian's thinking about doing the house chores. 

" Have you done all this by yourself Ruth?" Asked Ryan smiling.

" No! I have done all this by the help of Vivian and Nelly. That's how we women are. Cleanliness is out first priority" said Ruth as she went towards Ryan and held his arm. 

" Won't you tell me where you took my mama and grandma?" Asked Ruth filled with lots of curiosity.

" Why should you know when the memories are already in their hearts? I am absolutely sure that they they cannot forget the unexpected experience. It's enough to see their smiles on their faces. Isn't it?" Asked Ryan smiling.

Ruth was silent since she felt challenged by Ryan. She decided to go towards Magdalene and Naomi then welcomed them back home.

" Did you think about what I said? " Asked Ryan which made Ruth a bit hesitant.

She felt like this since she had not told Magdalene and Naomi yet about the fact that she wanted to go back to Olam town. Ruth did not answer Ryan since answering him meant that she was informing Magdalene and Naomi about the thought of leaving town.

" Did you think about what we talked  in the morning?" Asked Ryan again.

" Not yet Ryan since I have been busy trying to do all the house chores" said Ruth smiling.

" Inform me once you think about it. I will bherefore introduce you to my people as per your decision" said Ryan who left.

Although Ruth agreed to stay, she felt bad by the fact that she was going to take away Vivian's position in the community. This made her feel bad since she wanted Vivian to be independent. It would mean that she would be left with no choice than to state her own terms regarding the matter. That position in the community happened to be Vivian's only pride.

She took Magdalene and Naomi to the guest room and therefore let to Vivian's room. She found Vivian changing into  the counselor's costume. Ruth helped her to button the costume and made her hair.

" How would you feel if somebody took your position away from you? " Asked Ruth smiling.

" How would I feel? Why would I let someone take my position away from me? That is something that will never have to happen because I have worked for this position all my life. I will make sure that that particular person faces my wrath. I can even go to an extent of killing that person just to be able to maintain my position. But why? Why are you asking me all this? Is there somebody who is planning to take my position away from me?" Asked Vivian angrily.

" No way. Why would someone want to take your position away from you?" said Ruth filled with lots of guilts. 

" I would like to take that position away from her and give it to you. Vivian does not deserve that position" said Nelly who entered the room. 

Unluckily, she had been listening to their conversation all this while. Ruth widened her eyes in disbelief. She found it hard to understand Nelly whom she knew as a calm lady who never liked to argue with anyone but for her orders to be followed was now staring a strong point against Vivian.

" I know that you are joking Nelly. You just want to upset Vivian since she is going to handle community cases right now" said Ruth smiling as she turned towards Nelly.

" I never joke about the things that I say Ruth. Vivian has been mistreating people who have no coins by making them loose cases even when they are right. Such kind of a person who is so inhuman does not deserve to rule this community" shouted Nelly angrily. 

" What are you talking about Nelly?" Asked Ruth who was in deep state of confusion.

" What have I just said that you find hard to understand? Vivian has been harassing people by the judgements she makes in this community. We sent your mother-in-law and her servant to mambo cell therefore you will face the wrath of it if you are going to let her make a rule in that case since we both locked them up illegally" said Nelly who left the room. 

Ruth left the room too and kept following Nelly. She was full of curiosity since she wanted more explanation from Nelly. Nelly led Ruth to the place where they were solving cases. Ruth was astonished to find out that Akeshia and Lady Nana had already been arraigned at the case box. The crowd and the entire legalities handling cases were waiting for Vivian to give a verdict over the issue. 

" Look! This is what I was talking to you about. Do you want to wait for her verdict? Or do you want Ryan to appoint you as the new case manager?" Said Nelly which astonished Ruth. 

" I want to be the case manager Nelly. I do not want Vivian to pronounce her verdict against my own people. She might use this chance to ruin me" said Ruth a bit sad.

" Very well! I will go and distract Vivian whereas you will go to Martin and tell him that you want to be the case manager. He loves you too much in such a way that he cannot refuse to give you such an offer" said Vivian who left. 

Ruth wondered how she would distract Ryan since Ryan was present there and he happened to be one of the counsellors. She took a little stone from where she was standing and threw it on Ryan's head which made him to stand filled with lots of anger. He turned behind him and was astonished to find out that it was Ruth who began to laugh. This made Ryan to go towards her and held her arm tightly. He led her to the furthest end and pinched her. 

" Ouch! I wasn't expecting that" said Ruth laughing. 

" Now I will have to pinch you more harder. Why did you have to do that? What brings you here?" Asked Ryan filled with lots af anger. 

" Ryan! I was left with nothing else to do. Didn't you tell me that I can choose to remain here and handle the cases in the community? I have finally made up my mind. I want to become the case manager right now" said Ruth in a pellucid voice filled with lots of hesitant.

" Do you want it right now? Are you sure that you are going to give up on your career?" Asked Ryan who thought that Ruth was lying to him.

" Yes Ryan. I have never felt certain as I feel today. I am going to handle the cases in the community as I search for my daughter Purist" said Ruth. 

Ryan immediately hugged Ruth tightly which astonished Ruth. Ruth hugged him back this time but only as an assurance that she meant everything she had said.

" The position is yours. Don't worry about Vivian as I will give her another position in the community" said Ryan smiling.

They both went back and as soon as they arrived, Ryan announced Ruth as the new case manager. Ruth sat on the top chair and ordered to listen to the case of Akeshia and Lady Nana. She was astonished when she found out that they were accused of stealing items from Mambo market yet they were from another community. Ruth thought that Vivian was the one who wrote the case which made her to be filled with lots of anger. She now understood the main reason why Nelly insisted that she should be the one to handle the verdicts. 

" Akeshia and Lady Nana should be taken out of our boundaries and banned from this town forever. Stealing is an act of dishonesty which should be punished with a servere punishment. This is my verdict" said Ruth smiling.

Vivian who had just arrived and heard the verdict who got angry and left for home. Ruth on the other hand decided to escort  Akeshia and Lady Nana out of the closer gates. As soon as they arrived at the closer gates, Akeshia insisted to have a last conversation with Ruth. Ruth agreed to her terms as she went towards Akeshia.

" The one who accused us of stealing is know as Lawrence. He said that he wanted to revenge on you since he knew that his wife Vivian would pronounce the verdict. I am begging you to come back home. I know that you have done this for us and you still love Martin. I will be waiting at the closer gates to welcome you with open arms" Akeshia whispered on Ruth's ear and left. 

Ruth turned towards Ryan and hugged him as she cried out a loud. Ryan ordered everyone to leave as soon as the gates boundaries were closed. 

" They still hate me Ryan. I cannot bear all of this. I am just human. Ain't I ?" Asked Ruth as tears welled down her eyes. 

" You are human and you are a special being. I love you" said Ryan as he carried Ruth back to the house. 

Everybody around the areas that they passed were astonished. They had never seen Ryan good to a stranger like that before.
