CHAPTER 119
It was the bitter truth that Ruth wanted to get rid of Martin. Faith who watched Ruth burn Martin's picture went towards Ruth filled with lots of anger .
" I told you that I was okay with you falling in love with Ryan. Don't you see that I was in support in that? I supported that because I never thought that you would go to an extent of burning my brother's picture. I am very dissapointed in you" said Faith who immediately left the kitchen.
Ruth followed her who went to outside the house. Faith walked carelessly till she almost got hit by a car. Luckily, Ruth ran towards her and save her who fell on her back on the ground.
" Ruth! What did you just do? Who told you to follow me? Please talk me" said Faith as tears welled down her eyes.
Ruth suddenly woke up and pretended that she had a lot of strength and did not need Faith's help .
" I love you more than I could love anyone Faith. If I stay with Martin's picture then I won't be able to give a chance to Martin to love. I will always remember Martin and the loved that we shared ever since I was a little girl" said Ruth.
" That's what exactly what I am trying to tell you Ruth. You can decide to erase everything in my life but you cannot erase the love that you have for Martin. You have to forget Martin by your mind and soul but not through destroying every picture of his that you come across dear sister. If you can't do than, then you will never love Ryan" said Faith.
" You are right. No number of pictures can ever erase the kind of love that I have for Martin except if I decide to do it with my soul and mind. I am sorry if I offended you by burning those pictures. I can't blame you if it indeed hurts you because no matter what I do, Martin will always be your brother. I also know that deep down in your heart you wish I could marry him once again and become his wife. I am not sure if that will ever happen. Let's go home and stop discussing about this love issues. We will dies of them especially by the fact that you haven't found the love of your life " said Ruth smiling.
Both Faith and Ruth left and went back home. As soon as they arrived, they were astonished to find Martin, Tere and Haggai seated on the couch. They entered the living room and wanted to go past them but Ryan suddenly stopped them.
" They have come to settle scores with us. I have told them the truth that you have finally decided to move on. That's why they came since Martin insisted that he wanted to see you for a one last time" said Ryan which astonished Ruth.
" And that's what I have come to do. I have come to free you of all the rest rights to be Purist's mother. You don't have to do that anymore. You don't have to stop Purist's marriage. The only thing you have to do is to return Ruth's umbilical cord to Purist's mother so that we can cut ties in a more professional way" said Martin in a commanding voice.
It was then that it dawned on Ruth that she indeed was gifted the umbilical cord the day she accepted Ruth to be her daughter while she was still young.
" You will have to kill me before you get that umbilical cord because I am never giving it to anyone. I still regard Purist as my daughter" shouted Ruth at everyone in the living room.
" That will only mean that you regard our marriage because I am the father of Ruth. Then you to come along with me" said Martin who went towards Ruth and held her arm as he wanted to leave with her.
" No! This does mean that I want to leave with you Martin. A mother does bit necessarily have to be one who holds the child's umbilical cord. When will you eber stop this your foolish way of thinking Martin? You are too old enough to know that I am stubborn and I have grown up to be stubborn. I am never going to stop being Purist's mother and fulfilling my motherly responsibilities till the day I will die. If you don't like it then suit yourself. The only thing that I like is to stay here. This has now become my motherland" said Ruth in a pellucid voice.
Martin strongly held her arm and refused to let go. This made Ruth to turn towards him and slap.
" I said that I am not going anywhere. Do you really understand me Martin? " Asked Ruth in a pellucid voice.
" Then the only way I will get out of here is if I get my daughter's umbilical cord. You can no longer call her your daughter because she is not and will never be your daughter" said Martin.
Ruth widened her eyes in disbelief. Martin had never spoken to her harshly like that before which made Ruth to be filled with lots of fear. This made Martin to remember how much Ruth was filled with fear the first day she entered the closer gates as a minor. She chose to hide under the shadows of Martin. This made Martin to laugh loudly who had forgotten that there were people around him.
" Are you turning mad Martin? Why don't you let go of my hand? You are hurting me" said Ruth in a pellucid.
" Yes my tiny flower. You are now a woman but you still behave like my tiny flower. How will I ever stop loving my tiny flower. This is the main reason why today I am going to make you choose. You will to choose between your daughter Purist and the new found love of your life Ryan. Keep in mind what your supposed daughter would feel once she finds out the truth" said Martin.
" Both of them are important to me and so I am not going to choose. I am not going to fall in your trap Martin. I can never choose between Ryan and Purist" said Ruth who tried to release herself from Ryan but was unable since Ryan was still holding him tightly.
" Why is it that uneducated lawyer like you finds it hard to make a decision? Were you slow witted while you were still in school? Is that why you find it hard to make a simple decision? Answer me Ruth" asked Tere in a commanding voice.
" This is not a matter of how many certificates I have in my hand Tere. This is a matter of how I am willing to judge using my heart. My heart strongly loves Purist as my daughter and that is how I will never ever put my daughter in a game of choice like this. My daughter will never be an option. Do you all understand me?" Asked Ruth angrily.
" We don't understand you Ruth" said Tere smiling.
" Murderers can never understand anything because they have no feeling. All they know is to kill people like hens and dogs. How can we negotiate with people who can kill even their own blood? How can we do that? It has never been forgotten that Tere and Haggai killed their own daughter Vela. A fgirl who had done nothing wrong in this life than to love them unconditionally. There is nothing as love because even water has become thicker than blood. Through that, people have been given the hope of living" said Faith smiling who entered the living room which astonished Martin who released Ruth's arms.
" Thanks Faith. We were both given another hope of living by becoming sisters and great friends. You have never failed me my sister" said Ruth who went towards Faith and hugged Faith.
Lady Akeshia entered at that instant accompanied by Purist and her younger son Jackson together with Nelly. They all went to sat on an empty chair.
" What is Purist doing here accompanied by Jackson?" Asked Ruth who remembered that she fought with mambo cell policemen inorder to prevent Jackson from going to the cell of hell.
" She is here to decide who will keep her umbilical cord. We have told that she dies not remember anything. Yet we know that she can choose her mother by heart and mind" said Nelly which astonished Ruth.
This made Ruth feel that Nelly lied to her that she was on her side and wanted to build friendship with her.
" Yes! I am here to make a choice of my mother and this is my decision. I choose .....I choosee. ...I choose Ruth to be my mother eben though the only thing I remember is the fact that she poisoned me and left the closer gates for many years but yet I still love her. I love her beyond limits. I have to go. My husband must be waiting for me" said Purist as she felt.
Everybody at the living room were astonished. They did not expect Purist to choose Ruth after the much effort that Akeshia and Nelly tried to convince her to come to the house and make a decision.
