CHAPTER 140

Everybody looked at Faith astonished. This was simply because they had not yet understood what Faith meant by whatever she had said. This made them to continue throwing stones at Vivian which made Faith to run away from the case square back to the mansion. 

She decided ran back to the mansion in order to inform Ryan of what was actually happening. As soon as she arrived there, she found out that Ryan was not there after searching for him all over the house. She immediately ran towards Lawrence's room and found Lawrence seated on top of the bed. 

She tried to draw Lawrence's attention by tapping him on his forehead but it bore no fruits. This made Faith to slap Lawrence.

Lawrence immediately stood astonished and held Ruth's arm tightly.

" There is no time Lawrence. VIvian might die if we delay here. Please listen to what I am telling you. We really have to go to the case square right now" said Faith in a hoarse voice.

Lawrence immediately carried Faith and ran with her outside the house. He therefore went to the case square still holding Faith in his arms which astonished Vivian who was now bleeding as soon as they arrived at the case square.

The people at the case square stopped hitting Vivian as soon as Lawrence arrived who decided to put Faith down.

" Your wife has no right to prosecute someone to death. That is why we as people of Mambo town have decided that she should be prosecuted the first one" shouted one of the men from the crowd. 

Lawrence widened his eyes in disbelief. Such a thing had never happened before in Mambo town. This meant that Vivian had really offended the people of Mambo town.

" She is going to be taken to Mambo cell immediately. After that, we are going to appoint the new case manager as Nelly" said Lawrence who ordered for Vivian to be arrested at once.

Vivian shook her head in disbelief. Vivian never thought it would come a day that Lawrence would impose such kind of judgement towards her. This did not mean that Lawrence's love for Vivian had actually ended. 

Lawrence knew that that was the only way which he could be able to save Vivian from the wrath of the people of Mambo town. 

Lawrence ordered for Vivian to be arrested at that instant. Vivian was arrested and immediately taken to Mambo cell. Lawrence watched her leave as tears welled down his eyes. Faith felt pity for him and decided to comfort him. 

" Thank you Faith. Today I have felt that good people exist no matter the kind of wrong that you do to them. I lack words to express....." Said Lawrence but Faith suddenly interrupted her.

" You don't have to say anything. We people of Olam town and closer gates are not bad people. We have clearly been taught good virtues ever since we were little children. I am glad that I learnt some of them as well from Ruth" said Faith in a pellucid. 

They both decided to follow Vivian to Mambo cell immediately. They found out that she had already been escorted inside Mambo cell and the door was already locked. 

Ruth who heard about what had happened immediately went to Mambo cell accompanied by Nelly. Ryan had not yet come back to the mansion since he had taken Naomi to the nearest hospital for a check up as instructed by the doctor before.

" That's what you get for being so naughty. Didn't I warm you before Vivian? Now I am sure that you have learnt it the hard way" said Ruth to Vivian.

" You think that I have learnt this the hard way? You have no idea of what you are talking about. I have only taken this as a challenge which I will be out of it very soon. I am going to get out of here and I will revenge to each of all those people who inflicted such pain on me" Vivian Shouted back at Ruth. 

Ruth just looked at Vivian and smiled. She knew that arguing with Vivian would only waste her time since Vivian never liked to be defeated.

" She has made herself clear and we don't really have to argue repeating the same words over and over again. Let's go back to the house" said Ruth who signalled to Lawrence and Faith to leave then she followed later on after handing over her handkerchief to to Vivian to wipe her sweat and tears.

As soon as they arrived at home, they found out that Naomi and Ryan had already arrived home too.  They were seated at the living room filled with thoughts still wondering what could have happened to Vivian. 

Ruth immediately went towards Naomi and hugged her. 

" What have the doctors said mama?" Asked Ruth filled with lots of curiosity.

" The doctors have said that my health is improving and I have to go everyday for a daily check on arthritis and stroke. They said that it was about ninety percent sure that I could have gotten both arthritis and Stroke if I kept mourning and thinking of my mother Magdalene for a long period of time" said Naomi smiling .

" I appreciate the fact that your health is improving mama. I have no idea of what I could had done if you had stroke or arthritis" said Ruth. 

Ruth only did this in order to divert everybody's attention towards Magdalene. She did not want them to discuss what had really happened to Vivian and maybe the fact that she could had not been taken to Mambo cell. Yet her efforts bore no fruits, Ryan immediately raised his hand which made people to understand that he wanted to say something.

" Family! What do you all think that we should in order for people's view towards Vivian to change? We cannot let Vivian stay there for a long period of time because she is married to this family" said Ryan filled with lots of concern. 

" There is nothing we can do about it Ryan. That woman should have known how to handle cases in your community and the kind of judgements she should impose on each and every person. I do not really think that the view of people towards her would really ever change. If it could had, then they wouldn't have had her almost stonned to death " said Ruth in a pellucid voice.

This made everyone at the living room to nod their head in agreement since they felt that Ruth's statement was indeed true. 

" You might be telling us the truth but I still feel that I should go and visit Vivian. I really have to go" said Ryan who left the living room. 

Ruth followed Ryan closely till they reached Mambo cell. She therefore stood behind Ryan who was knocking the door of Mambo cell in order for Vivian to approach them at the door due to the ringing noise.

Vivian indeed approached them but got angry the moment that she saw it was Ryan and Ruth.

" What are you both doing here especially you Ruth again? Are you both here to lecture me of how I could have been a good case manager? I don't even think that that is what we should really think about right now. Ruth wanted Nelly to be the new case manager. You challenged me a long time that you would ensure that I lost my post as the case manager to Nelly. This is therefore your chance to appoint Nelly as the new case manager since today you have won the challenge" said Vivian who seemed dissapointed by the whole situation. 

" Vivian! I said that I wanted Nelly to be the new case manager but not for you to be ripped of your position the way the people of Mambo community did and they wanted to do more than that. I wish that you get out of here soon and come back home. Ryan and I have to go for now. Let's go Ryan since we really have no business here" said Ruth who signalled to Ryan to leave. 

Ryan left but it was not what he really wanted to. He wanted to release Vivian even though he knew that the whole community would had been against. 

" Why Ruth? Is that how much you hate Vivian? She is a member of our family" said Ryan as both Ryan and Ruth continued walking back to the mansion.

" I know Ryan. She just needs to learn it the hard way. She was also about to kill someone today. I really fail to wonder the main reason why you are sympathizing with her. She would rather stay there than being stoned to death" said Ruth in a pellucid voice. 

" No! I am not impressed by your opinion at all. I am even beginning to wonder if you are the kind of wife that I want to get married to. I am beginning to doubt my decision" said Ryan who suddenly chose to be silent . 

Ryan did not really want to argue with Ruth. He knew that arguing with Ruth would cause great harm in the love that the both of them had.
