CHAPTER 158

Whether old or new Martin, there was nothing about him that could never change, his urge to look down upon others.

Lady Ruby therefore chose to forget the fact that Martin sent her to bring to him another cup of tea. As soon as she finished washing the utensils, she went to her block in the servant quarters and decided to sleep.

Purist sneaked out of her matrimonial home. Rumours had already spread in mambo town that Ruth was suffering from leukemia and required blood transfusion from any volunteer whose type of blood was a match to that of Ruth.  Purist knew that if she told her husband that she was going to visit Ruth at the hospital, her husband would refuse. 

As soon as Purist arrived at the hospital, she went to the receptionist desk and stole the book which contained the hospital records since the receptionist was not there and yet there was nobody around too. 

She decided to go and hid in the washrooms as she went through the book in order to check the name of the ward which Ruth was admitted to. As soon as she found the ward, she threw the book on the floor and got out of the washrooms. She therefore ran into Ruth's room and locked the door as soon as she entered.

" Mama! Mama!" Shouted Purist at Ruth as she went towards her. 

Ruth immediately woke up who was asleep. She smiled as soon as she saw that it was Purist.

" You have come to visit mama despite the rules of this land. I am so proud of you Purist and I am glad that you have come" said Ruth as she stood up and hugged Purist. 

Ruth was feeling a bit well and was no longer feeling weak.

" Mama! I was worried as soon as I heard the news you were sick. It made me to come all the way here just to see how you are doing. I am glad that you are doing fine. Is it true that you have leukemia?" Asked Ruth feeling a bit sad.

" No! I don't really think that I have leukemia. I don't believe in the doctor who has treated me and that is why I feel like I should go to another hospital and have my tests done once again. Will you help me sneak out of this hospital without mama or Ryan having an idea about it? Please do this favour for your mother" Ruth pleaded with Purist as she folded her arms.

" Yes I want to help you but...." Said Purist but Ruth suddenly interrupted.

" But you are going to help me my daughter. You are going to help me sneak out of this hospital. There is no one else who is capable of doing this except for you Purist. I have always known you to be cleaver and creative just like mama. Is that not right" Ruth asked Purist.

" It's true mama and I learnt all of it from you. That is the main reason why I am going to help you" said Purist as she hugged Ruth once more before they both decided how they were going to leave the ward.

Purist therefore came with a plan of how she was going to help Ruth escape. She went into the nurses dressing room and stole some of the nurses clothes then brought them to Ruth in the ward. Ruth looked at Purist astonished since she never thought that Purist could steal the nurses' uniform. 

" When did my daughter learn to be a thief? Couldn't you have come with another better plan than this?" Ruth asked Purist.

" Come on mama. There is no much time for me to start explaining things to you. Put on this uniform as I put on mine then we leave. Please do not forget to put on your face mask" said Purist who handed over one of the uniforms to Ruth. 

Ruth immediately changed as Purist changed as well. As soon as they finished, they both left confidently without fearing anything assuming that they were nurses. They decided to walk towards another different hospital when they reached outside the hospital. 

" Thank you Purist. I don't know what exactly I could have done without you. You have always been my hope and everything Purist. That is why when you become my daughter, l vowed to be your beautiful mother" said Ruth as she held Purist's arm and therefore continued walking.

" You are the only who understood me Ruth. Unlike mama and Papa, you knew what I wanted and what I did not want as well. That is why you are always my loving mama. Oh! Here is the hospital mama. May we please enter?" said Purist as they entered the other hospital.

They immediately went to the doctor's office and were astonished to find the doctor sleeping as soon as they entered. Purist sat as Ruth tried to wake up the doctor. The doctor woke up after sometime of being woken up and was astonished to find out that two ladies were seated in front of him. This made him to almost scream but Ruth signalled to him to be silent.

" Doctor! We really need your help. I need you to run some tests on me without informing any member of my family. Are you willing to work with me?" Asked Ruth.

" Yes! I am doctor Warrio and I really want to work with you but I cannot do that. What if something goes wrong? I hear that you come from Ryan's house. You are his soon to be wife. I don't know what will happen wrong if I mess up" said the doctor a little bit worried.

" That is why no one knows I am here. I knew that that could be your answer. Please do this for me. My life entirely depends on the results of this test" Ruth pleaded with doctor Warrio.

" I am going to help you only under one condition. After the tests are done, both of you will not have any associations with me. I am begging you both since I don't want to refuse to help you" said the doctor who folded his arms.

" Thanks doctor. I will honour my words by promising that after the tests are done then I won't have anything to do with you. I will not mention your name anywhere ever in my life" said Ruth.

The doctors secretly took Ruth to the laboratory accompanied by Purist. He conducted the tests on Ruth and therefore urged both Ruth and Purist to hide themselves in one of the private wards as they awaited for the results. It took very many hours for the results to come. This made Ruth to be worried since people would realize that she was missing.

" How about I leave you here to wait for the results? Mama and Ryan will soon realize that I am not at my ward which will cause a lot of chaos. You will stay and wait for the results here while I go back at my ward. You will bring me the test results once the doctor is done" said Ruth smiling.

The doctor entered the secret private ward at that instant. He handed over the test results to Ruth and left. Ruth gave to Purist to check on them and give her feedback once she was down. This was simply because Ruth was afraid of getting dissapointed if she realized that the results came out positive.

Ruth therefore closer her eyes as she awaited to hear the news from Purist who was on the process of opening the envelope. As soon as she finished opening the envelope, she checked through the results snd smiled.

" Dear mama! Would you open your eyes now? There's apsalutely nothing wrong. You are not suffering from anything mama. Your haemoglobin is 12.6 and you don't have leukemia at all. Oh mama! Who in his or her right state of mind could have done this? This must be somebody who knows you well and wants to put you off from doing some things" said Purist feeling a bit sad.

" I will have to find .that person soon Purist. I now feel like I do not really need to go to the hospital but I will just have to do it for the sake of everyone. Let's go. We have another task of sneaking into my ward and changing out clothes" said Ruth.

Ruth and Purist therefore left the hospital. They quickly arrived at the other hospital where Ruth was admitted and sneaked into Ruth's ward.

As soon as they arrived at the ward and opened the door, they were astonished to see Ryan, Naomi, Nelly, Faith and Akeshia seated there filled with lots of fury. 

" I can explain" said Ruth in a pellucid voice.

" There is nothing to explain. You and your daughter deserve not to be together because when you are together, you become too messy" shouted Naomi at Ruth angrily.

" Why are you all angry with me? Please speak and say your comments after you have read what is in this envelope" said Ruth as she handed over the envelope to Naomi.

As soon as Naomi read what was written inside, she shook her head in disbelief. She felt that once again she had failed to trust on her daughter and there is nothing she could do about it.
