Chapter 206

“They were born with it?”

Danielle gestured at Summer to let her answer.

“They evolved after constantly eating big sandwiches and burgers,” Summer said. “They were trained as children.”

Danielle nodded her head in agreement. “My country folks warned me that Americans all had big mouths. I understood it only after I came here.”

Danielle’s father was the Shifter King of the Asian Shifters United Kingdom. There were many high-profile international shifters in the Shifters Academy, including Blow Job.

“If they can do it, I can do it too,” I said.

I opened my jaw wide, eyes rolling back with the effort, and I held the burger between my teeth as if it were prey. I took a big bite and chewed in victory with a stupid grin splitting my face.

The burger did taste better with a huge bite. I swallowed quickly since it was rude to talk with food in my mouth.

“Wicked.” I smirked. “We all have big mouths now. We’re officially big-mouthed North American werewolves.”

Danielle rolled her eyes. “We are not werewolves, Pip. We’re shifters.”

“But we shift into a wolf, right?” I said, then realized that I might be the only one who hadn’t shifted and didn’t know how. “You know, about shifting, uh, I might have a few questions.”

The girls leaned closer to pay attention to me while inserting handfuls of French fries into their big mouths. I smiled at them, and my heart filled with happiness.

Just a burger, some fries, and budding friendships could make me so giddy. My past life must be full of shit. And now, I didn’t even want to find out my origin or if I had a family, things like that.

Maybe it was best if I didn’t remember a damn thing. That one glimpse into the past of being a lab subject was already enough to turn my stomach. I didn’t need to have my memory back to feel whole. I had a new clan now. Maybe I should move on with this good new life and forget about the hunters as well.

I opened my mouth wider, took a second large bite, and grinned at the girls. They all had their mouths full and smiled back.

Summer swallowed her food and drank her diet coke. I rushed to grab a large non-diet coke.

“You fit right in with us, Pip,” Summer said.

“We’re the Fantastic Four Werewolves,” I said, then glanced at her barely touched French fries; mine were nearly polished off. “You want

 some help finishing that?”

Just as I was about to grab Summer’s plate at her amiable nod, Viviane

led a group of eight toward our table.

The girls’ faces paled. Even Danielle sat straighter, her shoulders tense,

her hand gripping her fork. I eased back in my chair, but I was ready for a good brawl.

“Look how all the Undesirables are getting together,” Viviane said with a contemptuous smile, gesturing at us.

Her minions laughed on cue, their eyes skewing toward me. Two bigger girls in the group shot angry glares at me, still remembering how they had fallen over themselves when they tried to jump me. They looked like they wanted to get even.
