Chapter 238

We’re one, though our beasts have their own minds, personalities, and tempers,” Danielle said, trying her best to explain our inner wolf while we ate in the dining room of her suite. “When we’re in our human form, our human wills, thoughts, and traits dominate. But in our animal form, we follow our beast’s instincts, and her primal needs can often override our social inhibitions. Most of the time, however, it’s harmony between our two

halves, but sometimes there can be conflicts.”

Well, with me, it was all harmony. The beast was me, and I was her. I

didn’t feel any split personalities or interests.

“I think that’s why the Alpha Heir’s wolf acted differently toward you.”

Danielle placed a slice of vegan pizza on her plate and cut a piece with a fork and a knife. “However—”

Someone knocked hard at the door.

I glared at it. “Whoever it is, we are not sharing this pizza, especially with someone who uses their knuckles to bang on our door.”

“We have plenty, Pip,” Summer said. She rose, gave my shoulder a light squeeze, and walked toward the entry way.

The door opened revealing an agitated Going-gray.

“Prince Jay.” Summer bowed slightly. “Can we help you?”

Going-gray peeked inside, and Summer politely stepped aside to let him

have a good look. We had nothing to hide.

Going-gray’s critical gaze landed on me. “I have a message for Pip

girl.”

“Surprise, surprise.” I grinned at him to further irk him. “I must be

important. But you should have just said ‘knock, knock.’ And we would ask, ‘who’s there?’ then you’d answer, ‘Prince Going-gray’. Much better than pounding on our door.”

The girls gasped, then muffled their laughter. Danielle shook her head at me to tell me not to aggravate the cousin to the Alpha Heir while she tried not to laugh as well.

Going-gray stepped inside and closed the door behind him.

“That mouth of yours will get you killed one day,” he said as he parked himself in the center of the room and crossed his bulky arms. “This information that I’m about to tell you is sensitive.”

“How sensitive?” I asked curiously while delivering a chunk of pizza to my mouth. Danielle used a fork and a knife, but I liked to use my fingers.

“Clean yourself up and make yourself presentable, Pip girl,” he ordered. “The Alpha Heir will pick you up at seven.”

“What for?” I cried out. “I didn’t do anything wrong. I’ve been treading very carefully, like a good, little mouse, since I got out of jail.”

Over Going-gray’s hard, unconvinced look, I blurted, “Someone waking up this morning and discovering an eyebrow vanishing had nothing to do with me.”

Yep, I made one of the bullies lose her left brow in retaliation for her spitting on the ground when I passed. I didn’t like people spitting. “She shouldn’t even whine about it since she still has the other one.”

“Don’t give any details,” Paris hissed to shush me. “They’ll take it as a confession.”

Going-gray narrowed his eyes. “Did you have something to do with that?”
