Rain

"We are here," he said, stopping the car. Lucinda looked outside the window and swallowed saliva.

"What’s wrong? Are you scared of the rain? If you don’t leave now, I promise you the rain will get worse," he said, and she sighed and stepped out of the car. She put her bag on her head as the water hit the ground and splashed on her body. She ran into the building quickly without looking back, Ralph watched her go and drove away.

                                                             Lucinda’s POV

Sitting inside my room with Medusa beside me, I listen to the sound the raindrops create when they fall upon the rooftops and trees. They fall and roll. I listen to the sound and feel at peace in my soul. They fall from the clouds. The coolness is brought to earth and hides the sun. to the scorched fields they give water and crop. I hear the music they make is like pitter, patter, pitter. I wish it would never stop.

Sitting on the bed, I watch the pearly drops when, as shining strings, they slide down from the rooftops. Who knew earth could be so peaceful and enjoyable.

                                                       Author’s POV

The remaining nights were full of rain and heavy thunderstorms, Lucinda lay comfortably on the bed and used the duvet to cover herself and cuddle her pillow to sleep with her legs curled up on the bed.

Though the rain was falling vertically downwards, Mr Jones held his umbrella inclined to the vertical. This is because he is moving towards one side due to the force exerted by him. The direction of the rain changes. He held his umbrella in that direction. He strolled in the rain in his raincoat and a black umbrella above his head as the rain landed heavily on the umbrella, causing the water to splash on his feet as it hit the ground.

He stopped in front of a huge house which was painted blue. He opened the black gate and walked towards the main door of the building. He brought out his keys to open the door and he started hearing crunching footsteps heading his way. His hand started shaking on the lock and he saw a shadow above the door. He quickly looked back but there was no one behind him. He felt unease run down his spine and chills of breeze.

He managed to open the door and took off his umbrella, resting it on the door. He looked around one more time and walked into his house.

He took off his shoes and then his raincoat. He took it off and then walked into the bathroom. He hung his raincoat on a nail on the wall and started taking off his clothes. He switched on the shower and started humming. bathing and suddenly his bathroom door opened by itself. His legs started shaking.

He stared at the bathroom door moving back slowly he started hearing footsteps and he step back slowly trembling on his steps.

"Who-who is there?" He stammered with trembling lips, and his gaze landed on a beast with bright red beady eyes.
