Crisis

Lucinda arrived in the office as all the employees gathered around her.

"What is going on?" she asked, raising a brow as they all hovered around her.

She started using her eyes to scan the employees, looking for Ralph, but she didn’t see him.

"Boss, there is a huge problem." One of the employees said he was walking to Lucinda with a laptop in his hand.

"What’s the problem? Why are you all fretting?" she asked, staring at them.

"The thing is, there is a war coming to Orlando." He stated as he showed her the computer screen. Pictures of houses burning and demons screening as they devour human flesh.

"What the heck?" she stated, staring at the computer screen as the employees all stood staring at her.

"What will the boss do?" one of the employees wondered.

"I don’t know, but I think he is clever, he will look for a way out of this mess." Another one, assured.

"If we don’t think of something soon, we are all going to die!!" one said, biting his finger.

They all started murmuring as Lucinda stared at the computer. She didn’t know what to do as she put her hand in her pocket, hoping to hide her trembling hand.

Ralph wasn’t here. He was more like her backbone, and he knew how things worked here better than she did.

The video that she was watching on the computer screen finished as the employee put the laptop away.

"So tell us, boss, what are we going to do?" one of them inquired, staring at Lucinda, who was lost in thought.

"Huh, boss." He called out to her, but she didn’t pay attention to him.

He snapped his finger on her face, jolting her back to reality.

"Answer us, boss?" one of them asked.

"Huh?" she mumbled, absentmindedly.

"Did you tune us off?" he inquired, glaring at her.

She must have tuned them off because she wasn’t hearing a word they were saying. She closed her eyes tightly. She just wanted Ralph to walk through that door and save her.

"Boss, we are talking to you." He stated, looking at Lucinda. She opened her eyes and stared at them with her head held high. She exhaled noisily. She wanted to be brave.

"I will think about it and tell you guys what we are going to do tomorrow." She said confidently.

"Tomorrow?" they all chorused.

"What do you guys have a problem with that?" she asked.

"According to my calculations, the demons are only a few hours away from entering our city. If they enter our city from the back, they will be here to kill us all in no time." He stated, staring at his phone.

"We are going to die!" an employee lamented, and they started panicking as they ran around the company.

Lucinda cleared her throat.

"Calm down everyone, I will arrange for something in an hour's time." Lucinda assured.

"Okay, boss." They chorused, and all headed back to their seats, Lucinda put her hand in her pocket and brought out her phone to call Ralph.
