Chapter 2

            Chapter 2

He staggered as he tried to hold the table for support. His hand brushed against the alcohol on his desk causing it to fall and shatter. He looked in the mirror, he could not recognise himself anymore. She was right, He needed help.

His eyes held no emotions, he did not feel anything, he couldn't feel anything. He felt a sense of guilt and anger hover around him.

'How could she?' he thought. He stretched his hands to the picture on the table and caressed it. It went from a caress to a tight squeez. He squeezed it as tight as possible, taking his anger on the picture. He went further to tear the picture.

He no longer felt guilty as anger flooded him

'she should have cared less' he let out a shaky breath

"Oh my Darling" he finally said as, he reached down to his pocket and took out a lighter "you will burn" he put the picture over the lighter and watched it burn with a smirk on his face

     ****

Hattie arrived at the hospital at exactly 6:02am, it was quite early but she could not stay in the house any longer. She prayed silently that Mr Willow won't book an appointment today. She really did not want his nagging and all, but it was her job. As a psychologist, she had met worst people.

She arrived at her office, unlocked the door and walked in. Aida must have locked it up for her. How thoughtful. Hattie walked over to her desk and sat down

A cold shiver ran down her spine as she remembered the note. The thought of someone being at her house made her shake

'Who could it be?' she thought. Her house was always locked. The person must have come in through the broken window. She did not even understand the meaning of the text but she did not like the idea.

'What if someone is trying to kill me?'

she thought about telling Westin but she thought against, he would be worried and come back from his buiseness trip, she did not want that. The police won't look into it anyways just because of a note so she did not bother calling the police.

'Maybe i should not worry'  she tried to console herself but the fact that some one broke into her house made her panic more. She began to imagine bad scenarios but she quickly waved it off

A knock from the door distracted her

"come in" she said

A young man in his late 20's walked in,  he had a tall figure, slightly musculine in nature with a rather long hair for a guy but she did not remember giving him a appointment.

"How can i help you?" she asked

" oh i came to see you"

" i dont remember giving you an appointment"

"No you did not"

"So how are you here?"

Probably Aida gave him an appointment  or maybe nurse  Ashley did but they should have at least told her first

" i just walked in" he sounded so non chalant which made Hattie feel disgusted

"You mean no body gave you access and you just walked in? is that not a little rude?" she shifted uncomfortable on her sit

"Is it?, Am so sorry" His voice did not hold any remorse so he sure was not sorry.

"But why did you come all the way to my office?" she  asked because Dr Lewis office was the first office before hers and it was written boldly on his door "psychologist"  since this man was perhaps new , he should have gone to the other doctors judging from how isolated her office was. She had never complained about where her office was located though.

" i just wanted to be here" he had this look in his eyes that she couldn't decipher. He stared intently at her, which made her feel uncomfortable

"well as you know am Dr Hattie" judging from the name on her desk

"Javier"

"So Javier what brings you here, are you here for counselling or something else?"

she was not supposed to do this, give counselling to someone who did not book an appointment but she did cared less. She wasn't thinking straight at the moment. She was still trying to process The note she found and most importantly, Mr patrick.

Maybe he desperately needed help and she wasn't going to deny him that. This was her job, appointment or no appointment

"I need counselling" he said looking at her so intently that she had to break contact. That was a bad one coming from a psychologist but she could not help it.

"About what?"

" my girlfriend said  I need therapy"

" do you need therapy?" she asked

"I dont know" he said blankly

"Why did you think she said you need therapy?"

"I dont know"

" are you depressed?"

"I dont know"

" you know I can't help you, if you keep giving that answer"

"Everything is just so confusing"

"How do you mean?"

"Everything"

"You need to be specific... she paused, she needed to start from somewhere  "where is your girlfriend?"

"Oh, Zenni left"

" Why did she leave you and why did she tell you that you needed therapy?"

she took a moment to look at him " do you have any mental disorder?"

"Not that I know of and Zenni was just really nosy" he broke eye contact with her, and his eyes landed on her arm

She brought down her sleeve, she had forgotten to put makeup on it to hide the bruise. She did not have time for that, she was too scared to think right, she just wanted to get out of the house.

"what's that?"

"A scratch"

" that does not look like a scratch"

Truth was that Westin got angry at her over some stupid argument, he beat her up and burnt her there with a hot knife. He could be terrible when he is angry but that did not change the fact that he loved her.

"Well it is" she was starting to feel uncomfortable" you were saying something about your girlfriend" she said trying to break the tension but he chose to ignore.

The look in his eyes was not helping. In her entire years of experienced, no patient had ever made her feel so uncomfortable. He stared at her. His eyes held anger for a long time as if he was reading her thought.

" What is it?" she couldn't help but ask

"Nothing" he shrugged and let out a smile as if trying to reassure her that everything was fine. He took his time to look at her office as if trying to study it. He then let out a huge sigh

" Am leaving" he said

" but you just got here?" she said although she wanted him to leave, she did not like his aura, the way he looked her, almost as if he was judging her for something she was not aware of

"Yes and am leaving" his voice was filled with range but he did not look angry. He stood up and headed for the door, he turned around and looked at her more intently with his head tilted to the side, he nodded as if he figured something out.

" I'll see you, miss Hattie" he opened, the door and left

Hattie could finally breath. What was that and who is he. She felt a sense of relief as he walked out of the door.

'O my God' Hattie thought putting her palm to her chest

Where did Aida go, that he could walk into the office

Hattie went out to look for Aida which she found her writing something on her desk by the hallway.

" Aida where did you go? a man came in without an appointment"

"Really, i stepped out to get something for someone"

"You should have handed over to Ashley"

"Yeah I could not find her"

" has he left?"

" who"

" the man you said came in without an appointment"

"Oh yes"

" What did he want?"

"Counselling, but there was something off about him"

" Why, any mental disorder?"

"Not really but he sure was strange, he made me feel like I dont know my job"

" he told you that?"

" no he did not but..." she paused still trying to figure out a word to use for this situation

" just stop over thinking" Aida told her

"Yeah maybe" she said as she left for her office. She decided to call Westin. She did not call him back after she hung up on him yesterday. She just hoped he was not angry.

"Hey Westin" she said

" babe you did not call me back yesterday"

" I heard I noise from the bathroom, seemed like someone broke into my house yesterday"

" What! A burglar?"

"I think so" she knew it was not a burglar. None of her stuff went missing and what kind of burglar would leave that type of note, the person could be all things but definitely not a burglar.

"How did they get in?"

"Well I heard a noise from the bathroom and went to check, the window was broken"

" have you fixed it?"

"no I was going to do that today after work"

" are you sure you would be fine all alone in that house? if you don't want to stay there, you can go over to my sister's house. I wonder why you have no friends" he sighed

"No am fine" she reassured him

" are you sure ?"

"Yes Westin, when are you gonna be back?"

"Tomorrow"

"Wow so soon?"

"Yeah we are done with everything, i wanted to stay longer but judging from what you told me, am not staying"

"You really don't have to bother, am fine" she rolled her eyes playfully

"Yeah right" he said with sacarsm

"Ok fine"

"So what have you been doing today?"

"Westin, i just got to work not too long ago, it's just 9:09am, i sure haven't done much" her mind went back to the guy who came for counselling but she shrugged it off. She should not worry about it she thought.

"Alright"

" What about you?"

"Nothing, just thinking about you" he said which made her giggle

"Alright babe I will call you later" she assured him

"Yeah bye"

Westin stood up from the  bed and walked to a table where a bottle of water was, he took it and gulped it.

"Alexandra" He said with a smirk in his face

He took his phone out again and dialed her number

" Hey baby" he said softly

"Westin, what's up?" Alexander replied

"Am home alone can you come over?" He said with a smile

"Yeah I can come"

He ended  the call. He loved this kind of life. He loved Hattie, he knew that but he just wanted to live his life. Of course Hattie should never cheat on him, he was the only one allowed to cheat. She should just keep on loving him unconditionally like she had always done.

His phone beeped and it was a text from a restricted number

"You are  not as smart as you think,

When you look out your window tonight, you might catch a glimpse of me".
