Javier braced himself as darkness slowly overshadowed him. He couldn't let fear creep into his heart, he needed to be as fierce as possible. Acting weak was the worst thing to ever do when with mephistopheles. He enjoys being worshipped and Javier wasn't going to give him that satisfaction. He really didn't want to do this. He had succeeded in avoiding mephistopheles for a long time but here he was, crawling back to his supposed master.
Life wasn't fair, he had always know that. He didn't have a choice. He was never given the opportunity to have a happy and normal life. All his life was filled with darkness and void even as a kid. He distanced himself from people because he was scared that they might find out that he belonged to the devil. He just wished that he could snap his fingers and all his problems would vanish into thin air. His constant dream of hell would fade and his constant mid day attack would seize, most importantly, the seasonal chaos that happened to his body.
He wished he could give Hattie a normal life where she didn't have to worry about people of his kind. The truth was that he didn't deserve love. His kind were always meant to remain in darkness for the rest of their life. Nothing good could ever come from a lashedta falling in love, no matter how they tried to paint it. He learnt that, the hard way after the death of Zenni. He knew that Hattie was slowly falling for him, he could see it in her eyes, anytime she looked at him. He knew it, but he never accepted it. He didn't want to. It was safer that way but he didn't care anymore. He was going to make a deal with mephistopheles and he was going to do it for one reason, and that was because he loves her.
Javier finally appeared in the realm world. The place he hated the most. It always found a way of sending negative effect into his heart. Covered with thick smoke, white and black in colour, it wasn't a place to be at all.
The devil had no heart and this place had too many bad memories. He remembered the first time he was hear. He was confused as hell. Being a kid of about 12 years old, he was bound to get scared. He saw some other kids of his age, even younger. While some had attained the adult age. The devil had told them back then that they were his disciples. Javier remembered how baffled he felt because all his life, he was made to believe that the devil was evil and now he was being told that he was the disciple of the devil. He remembered how tensed the room was. Everybody looked calm on the outside but he was still able to sense fear. Fear of the devil, fear of being a defaulter, fear of being part of the dark side. He also remembered how mephistopheles punished a lashedta for falling in love twice. He sent him to hell, to be trapped for over two hundred years. The fellow was quite lucky in Javier's opinion. Some lashedta were punished in hell for eternity for minor things, like missing a council meeting. Mephistopheles was brutal and Javier hated the fact that he belonged to him.
"Dagon, my favourite" Javier heard his realm name from behind him. It was mephistopheles. His voice pierced through Javier like a thorn. He hated everything about this place, ranging from the aura to the fact that devil lived there.
Javier braced himself, calming his tensed self. He turned around and was faced with mephistopheles. His looks didn't change one bit. He still had the look of beauty but the deceit that hid under his looks were unspeakable. His eyes shone brightly, emitting a densed golden colour almost given off a flame like look. His ash hair cascaded down his shoulder to his back. God's most beautiful creation but the deadliest still, Javier thought inwardly.
Mephistopheles made his way to Javier, with his footstep echoing all over the empty blue flamed space. He walked stealthily with a little smirk on his face. He stopped in front of Javier.
"Would you like to know, why you are my favourite? and why I probably chose you to be one of my disciples" he asked but Javier greeted him with silence. Javier knew that if he opened up to say anything, it might be drastic so it was better he remain shut so that he could get what he wanted.
Mephistopheles let out a slight chuckle when Javier didn't give him a respond
"I chose you because I liked the energy and the aura that came from you. It really baffled me, how a boy could be that powerful even without being powerful" mephistopheles said plainly in a slightly fading tone. While he was still talking, the fog that covered the place began to clear up and Javier could finally see a throne. Mephistopheles made his way to it and sat down on it with his staff on his right hand. He looked intently at Javier, beckoning on him. Javier stepped forward looking back at him, trying not to look intimidated
"I, Dagon, the Prince of depths, the demon of vast and forbidden knowledge has come for a request" Javier said loudly with his voice echoing
"Hmmmm" mephistopheles sighed
"Who would have thought. You would ever come to me for a request?. I thought you despite me too much"
"Am glad you noticed" Javier shot back not being able to tame his tongue
"Ever so challenging. Typical" mephistopheles remarked
"About the request. What do you want?" he asked calmly but Javier wasn't fooled by his tone. His heart was a dark place, that was if he had a heart. He would surely ask for something drastic in return. That was how heartless the devil was.
"I want to counter the power that Andrew used in holding a girl"
"Your lover?" Mephistopheles laughed. Of course he knew about Hattie. Javier thought. Mephistopheles had eyes everywhere looking for a defaulter. Javier even wondered why he wasn't summoned for going against the rules.
"Hattie" javier called out, ignoring his accusation.
"You know you broke a rule. Two rules. Two reprimanding rules. Let's say forbidden" mephistopheles flamy eyes pierced into Javier's
"I chose to ignore it. You are my favourite after all" He smiled, darkly
"You will still destroy me like the rest" Javier spoke with honesty
"Let's not go to fast. You have always been a slow venom. We would stick to that"he paused taping cautiously on his staff
"About your request, is that all you want?" mephistopheles asked and a wave of seriousness flashed over his face.
"I also demand for power to destroy the Cartels" Javier spoke out loudly, not showing any sign of intimidation
"Always so brutal and fierce." Mephistopheles nodded his head
"You know that for a gift to be taken, a gift must be given in exchange" he added
"I have thought of the consequence and I am ready to take on the deal no matter how hard it might hit" Javier said regardless
"What I would want in return wouldn't be only a deal but also a punishment for breaking two laws"
"Speaking of favouritism" Javier said in a slight mocking tone
"I am ready for anything, I just want to get her out of Andrew's hand"
"That was a really desperate answer coming from a demon like you. You really cherish this girl. I wonder what she put on you" mephistopheles said
"What do you want in return?" Javier asked ignoring his rhetorical question.
"Hmmm" he sighed. "You have to calm your nerves, I haven't thought about it yet"
"Have you ever done something without asking for something in return"
"Well you see, that's the balance of nature in this realm. I can't compromise it. I am not God that gives without taken. It's just like a cycle" mephistopheles said calmly and Javier hated the tone of his voice. Like the sly serpent that he is.
"What is the deal?"
"Your wish will be granted but you will have to wait for a week before you will be able to counter the power Andrew had used in capturing your lover. About your deal, i will let you know about what I want later on. I haven't made up my mind yet"
"Its all good. I appreciate" Javier forced the word out of his mouth
"You may go now, Dagon" mephistopheles stated to Javier who gave off a slight nod.
**
Javier appeared back in his room. He could finally breath. The tension in his heart was so high. He had just done the unthinkable, made a deal with the devil. He hit his head slightly against the wall behind him as he swallowed hard. He breathed in and out, sharply making a calming motion. He couldn't help but feel anxious and restless. The devil gave him a blank deal. That means, he might have to give something unspeakable to the mephistopheles and there is no way he would turn back the deal. He would just have to fulfil it. He sighed, sitting down on his bed. He ran his hands through his hair that was slightly drenched and oily as a result of sweat. He laid on his bed and his phone chose to ring at that moment. He groaned in exasperation. Why couldn't he just have peace of mind. He just paid a visit to the devil and the first thing he gets, is a call?.
He ran his hand across the bed and grabbed his phone. He wasn't surprised, it was Daphne. She had probably called to nag or whine about the police or his incompetence . The last thing he wanted was her whining. He might end up losing his mind. He watched the screen until the call ended. He placed the phone by his side and after some time it began to vibrate. Javier knew that Daphne will continue to call until she gets a reply. Javier sighed as he placed the phone on his ear, getting up from where he laid
"Javier" the annoying voice called out and Javier knew he was in for a long talk
"Daphne" he said tirelessly
"You were really right. This police are incompetent fools" she said and Javier could tell that she had anger in her.
"Oh really, What did they do this time" Javier replied sarcastically
"I know you told me to leave the police out of this case and that is exactly what I'm going to do. They even had the audacity to show non chalant attitude towards the case and it made me sick to the stomach"
"I told you, didn't I. The police wouldn't be able to do anything"
"So since we are sticking to your way of not involving the police. What do you thing we should do"
"Wait for a some time and Hattie would be back home"
"Ok, you are sure?"
"We would just hope" Javier answered plainly so as to avoid being called a mafia don. She might get suspicious if he appeared to sure of her return date. It would look like he planned it all.
"So you don't have anything that you plan on doing?"
"We'll see" Javier shrugged
"I don't still trust you as much as I forced myself to"
"Do you want to get you friend back?"
"Yes of course"
"Then I guess you have to do the dreadful, trusting me" Javier said, ending the call.
A little bit of joy crept into his heart. He was going to see Hattie again after all and that was all that mattered. He didn't care what mephistopheles would want in return, the most important thing was that he would be releasing Hattie from that monster called Andrew. The moment Hattie returns, he would never let her go again. Letting her go was what got him into this this mess in the first place
