She had to feed, if she wished to still be able to walk then she had to feed one last time.
She staggered on unsteady legs to her mate that was still in his lax state. The state of Heisa that prevented him from hearing, from talking, from breathing. Dead yet he still lived.
She placed her hand on her most recent would, the one caused by the arrow that had completely made its way through her heart, the second she got to the stone like casket she fell to the ground, unable to go on. She was exhausted, and her skin still hurt from whatever that fairy had done to her. Her earlier sword wound had healed but she had still required rest after that. Groaning, she forced herself to lie on her back, then she squeezed her eyes shut and tried her best to steady her uneven breathing.
Something was wrong, she was almost certain that the arrow had been spiked with a sort of poison. She started to feel herself go numb, and nothing she did was able to stop the effect.
But perhaps she did require rest, some time to recover before she charged at the angels and their so called queen once more.
Her only fear was closing her eyes and not opening them soon because she hadn't completed her feeding requirements. And all the beings of Zalian were safely hidden away in their own homes, the Triecan was packed full of warriors that would have been sure to satisfy her but she knew that wouldn't be a wise thing to do. And her abilities were becoming drained with each minute that passed.
And she had been holding off on one particular idea but apparently it was finally time to just carry through with it.
Zalian wasn't the only kingdom that existed in the realm, there were other two to choose from. And between the two she settled on Umallen. The land inhabited by the witches and wizards. It was risky but it seemed like the most logical thing to do,Greyden would have been as good an option. But she wasn't stupid, and she was too weak at the moment to even try draining the beings that lived there.
So with her mind made up she looked down at her chest, at the blood that refused to stop flowing from her wound. Her senses had always been alert, she ought to have heard anyone walk into the cave. But she was certain that it was either Flame's mate or one of those other angels. That was however the least of her concern.
Soon they would all perish, she was sure the pleasure she was going to get from watching them all disappear from existence would be unmatched.
She reached back and used the stone to help her stand, then she turned to her mate and run the tips of her fingers through his hair before she murmured the words, " Soon my love,...soon"
With her mind set on Umallen, she closed her eyes and summoned her darkness. Hoping that she wouldn't pass out before she got to accomplish her mission.
After she fed, she would lie low for a while and strategize on what to do next. She needed a solid plan to get the fairy to give her blood freely. That would be the beginning of the end, the instance she got the crimson that flowed through the fairy's veins then everything would definitely begin to work out how it ought to. That was literally the only hinderance, the only thing that prevented her from getting what she needed.
With her hand pressed to her bleeding chest she let the darkness consume her and carry her away.

Two days had passed since the council meeting, and since then Flame had been doing everything in her power to improve. Her first goal had been to get used to the pain that she had to endure whenever she accessed her abilities, but she was slowly being forced to accept that there was no way to get used to such agony, each time she summoned those flames forth she always used the first few seconds to regret having done so.
But she would withstand it. She was still trying to get Nuriel to mark her every once in a while, and she actually believed that if she kept it up for a while longer then she would succeed in doing so.
Two days of not having to worry about Phoenix. Everyone was still alert but not as distressed as they had been before. She had attended another meeting the previous day where she found the angels trying to work out a plan in what they would do when the time to strike arrived. Victor and Drexel were in the inn that had since turned into an infirmary. They had thought it wise to keep an eye on the sick Incase the goddess started getting ideas to prey on them while they were already vulnerable.
" She clearly seems to be fond of the dark,I'm almost positive that when the time comes we'll have to deal with her in another one of her caves, " Rylan had said. Angels had great vision, even in the dark, so that hadn't been something to worry much about.
" What if she disappears the instance she sees us?" Phelan had asked and they had agreed that they wouldn't waste time idling around. Waiting for her to react.
" There has to be something that can render her unconscious, " Kalen had said, seeming deep in thought. Clearly getting stabbed and having arrows shot through her wasn't enough.
" I'll go and ask Caspian, he's very knowledgeable in such matters, " Kalen had added and Nuriel had asked whether the keeper of words would agree to pay a visit to the Triecan and tell them all he knew.
" I was actually planning on talking to you about that, clearly we don't know as much about the gods as we ought to.." Kalen began and everyone had kept quiet to listen to him talk.
" Caspian is currently training someone to take his place once he's gone. What if we invite the being to stay here, that way he'll be able to answer our questions even in the future concerning any subject, " Nuriel had said he'd think about it. Mostly because the being had still not completed his training and also, he needed to be vetted before he could live there.
The other angels still had no he about Phoenix's need for Flames blood and Nuriel thought it wise to keep it that way. If they found out that was precisely what Phoenix was after, they would ask him why he hadn't yet marked Flame. And personally, he was also starting to reconsider his choice. The need to forever mark her as his was eating at him, making it difficult for him to focus on anything else.
And it had already been two days yet nothing had happened to Flame. And if he went ahead and did so then Phoenix would want nothing more to do with her,but there was something that prevented him from doing so.
It was a cycle.
The pairing that is.
After he marked Flame then that would mean they would never be rid of Phoenix because after their pairing was completed, another was set to immediately begin. Another fairy would rise. One of his brother's mate. Another unmarked fairy and a new target for the power hungry goddess. And so he wouldn't let it get to that, if he wanted them all to have some semblance of peace then he had to ensure the whole thing with Phoenix ended with him and Flame. Marking her would be selfish of him,he would only be handing the burden over to one of his brothers.
Plus most of those males had made it evident time and time again that a mate was the last thing they wanted. What if Aziel's mate was set to rise after his, what then?
The angel was definitely not going to mark her and make her his. That would imply him having to spend the rest of his life with her.
So no....he wouldn't mark Flame until they permanently got rid of Phoenix.
He hoped that Flame was prepared to face her. That she was doing everything she could to perfect her power, him and his brothers were great with the sword but that would simply not be enough for that particular mission. And they had to strike while Phoenix was still weak, before she got the chance to replenish her power. She was probably roaming around the kingdom in search of her next target. One she wasn't going to find because they had made sure of that.
Waiting was stressful but it was all they could do.
The warriors weren't supposed to leave the Triecan as well. Currently everything had been left in the hands of him, his brother and his mate. The only immortal beings in the entire kingdom.
The only ones who could save it.
