Yet again, Oceal had assured him that Flame was okay. And the healer was starting to worry about his health. According to her, he seemed paranoid concerning her safety.
Of course the words were delivered in a careful and respectful way, but that was basically what she had said. And he had decided to let the matter slide.
He had asked Idah to bring up food for Flame.... a lot of food. But the young handmaid had asked whether you they would not be dining with the others.
" What do you mean? " Flame had asked. And the young girl had explained that the rest of the council were currently all having their meal at the formal dining room. And although the last thing Nuriel wanted was for Flame to be stuck with his brothers after what had just occurred, she seemed very infatuated with the idea of dining with them.
" Come on, let's go. This way you can apologize for not attending the meeting earlier. I'm sure they're wondering what took you so long. " she said as she locked her fingers with his and pulled him out. And he let her do so, making her believe that she was capable of simply dragging him along even if it was in no way true.
" Thanks Idah! " she shouted once they were out of the doorway and they heard the girl's soft reply.
" Are you certain you want to do this? I assure you that you have no clue what some of those males are like! "
Nuriel tried to recall the last time he and his brothers had sat down together and done something as simple as share a meal. And he was unable to recall exactly when it had been.
" Stop trying to change my mind. Besides, I've met them all and they seem nice... mostly. Apart from the one you sent away, I know you told me he was back but I swear I haven't seen him yet. "
Neither had he. He had caught a glimpse of Bastian during the fire but other than that, he had not seen the angel since. And he wondered whether he was actually seated with the rest since it would surely be a shocking sight. Apart from being seen, the only other thing the angel seemed to not want was company. He was kind as far as Nuriel knew, he would not send you away if you approached him. And if you initiated a conversation he would try to take part, but you could easily tell that it was not something he wanted to do.
Which was why Aziel referred to him as the Raven Loner. Not to his face though.
After walking for a while. Flame stood and looked around, then she turned to Nuriel while biting her lower lip. He raised a brow. And she could see a mocking smile creeping into his handsome features.
" You have no clue where the dining area is, do you? "
" Well, I mean.... it's a large house okay?!! " She sternly said, defending herself.
" Come on now, this is precisely why you need me. "
" So you can show me the way to the dining area? "She asked sounding confused as she let him take the lead. He scoffed, rolling his eyes in a very unmanly fashion that compelled her to laugh.
" Of course not! So I can prevent you from wandering off into the unknown and possibly getting attacked by wild creatures. "
" And you say I like to exaggerate! "
Shaking his head, he got to the staircase. And without warning, he scooped her up in his arms and crouched down before he made a vertical take off. Shooting up for the cathedral ceiling while listening to her scream and laughter mixture. Or what started out as a laugh before she realised that the crystal chandelier was getting closer and the laughter changed into a scream.
" Stop it! I swear if you don't go back down I'll kill you! " she threatened. Forcing a laugh from him. A heavenly and magical sound that she would have enjoyed had he not been trying to scare her to death. But now it only served to anger and annoy her.
" Come on, take me down! " she pleaded.
And once they were a foot away from the very high ceiling, he stopped. His laughter still echoing around them, then he stared at her with pure delight and humor.
" God! You're so lucky I love you angel. If not I would have curved your wings off myself. "
" And I would have gladly let you. You most likely would not have succeeded but nothing feels better than having your hands on me. "
She grunted, crossing her arms defiantly. Although it was mostly because she knew he would not drop her.
" Keep this up and you won't be allowed to touch me for a week... or two. And I'm serious just so you know. "
His face grew pale and his eyes widened in disbelief for a second. Then he blinked and the only expression he wore was a wholehearted smile.
" Your threats fail to scare me m'eudail. We both know that you can't survive that long without my intimate caresses. "
" You're so arrogant! "
" And you're so sweet.. and lovely.... and smart... and brave... and mine. " he countered. Studying her intently to view the blush that took over her features.
" Oh, and I forgot.... you're also so loud, " he quickly added before cradling her closer and turning to face down, then he shot himself down like an arrow with great speed, ignoring Flame's sudden scream. He actually laughed upon hearing the sound and realising that he was right. It truly was loud.
Once they got to the ground, she tried jumping off his arms but he refused to let her. Instead he headed for the dining area as he effortlessly carried her. And when they were still a few feet away, he could hear the very loud chatter and unfiltered laughter of his brothers. But it all died down once they got to the entrance and one by one, they all turned towards them.
" Ha! Look who decided to join us! " Kael shouted excitedly before Quillon threw a piece of bread at him and shot him a warning look.
" Well at least now we know why he was unable to make it to the meeting, " Aziel casually stated as he sniffed the air. No doubt catching the marking scent that had grown stronger due to what they had been up to that morning.
" Yes, and why Flame needed a healer..." Kael added, "...Nuri, I always knew you were wild in bed but I never would have guessed just how lethal you could be. "
This time,Quillon, Victor and Rylan threw pieces of bread at the golden angel while Phelan who was seated beside him, hit him with his elbow.
Placing her on her feet, Nuriel gave her a scolding look. Then past gritted teeth, he asked " See what you've gotten us into? "

Phoenix.....
" The fairy of fire she is. A strong willed creature with more power than she knows. She's still a youngling, a mere toddler in the way of our world. But despite how much power she possesses, I still possess more."
Icy words from the female who considered herself the goddess still. She was speaking not to herself, but to the unspeaking form that lay encased in a stone like casket behind her. She bothered not to look, it didn't matter which direction she turned as she spoke to him. He could not hear her.
" I heard that she's identified by the name Flame, " a saddening laugh.
" Fairies and their stupid tags. "
She could put out that said Flame with a simple snap of her fingers. And after she had done so she could very easily go after that white winged mate of hers. The same one who bore a striking resemblance to her late foe. The previous king of Zalian who had been wiped from existence by her kind.
She turned around and faced the unspeaking form, laying lifeless in that brick box. But he wouldn't be in such a state for much longer. He was the only one capable of helping her rise to the top again. And unlike the young fairy, her name actually suit her. Because like a phoenix she would indeed rise from the ashes and reclaim her throne. And all the cursed creatures in not only the kingdom, but also the entire realm would have no choice but to bow down and acknowledge her as the rightful ruler.
It was only natural for gods and goddesses to be in control. She reached out to the unspeaking form, intent on touching, but then she thought against it and withdrew her hand. He was indeed the only one capable of helping her. Together they would be unstoppable, and they had agreed on the plan all those centuries back as both had picked their own locations to fall into the lax state and wait out the war. But he would not wake as naturally as she had. He needed something only the little fairy could provide, and that was the only reason she remained unharmed.
