Umallen.....
Queen Raza had been seated on her throne when the leader of the Acren walked through the entrance.
The Acren itself being a group of the strongest four witches in the land. Gifted in ways others were not, with the abilities to see through planes that surpassed their entire realm. They informed her of any information that was crucial. For instance, thanks to them she had known about the arrival of the fairy in Zalian, the same one written in the prophecy she had read out of curiosity. And because it was always good to know as much about your enemy as possible.
She had also received news that the kingdom was going through an attack of sorts, but she hadn't bothered herself much. She had a lot more to concentrate on.
And currently, the only thing on her mind was getting vengeance for her son.
" Klara, " Raza said as she watched the female walk towards her. Dressed in an exquisite gown of pure white with crystals scattered on its bodice. If there was one thing the residents of her kingdom could not be blamed for, it was a lack of taste.
It had been several days since the death of her son. And so she had summoned Klara and the other three members of her group and asked them to find out whoever it was that was that had taken her sweet Lucas from her. And she had expected it to be an easy task, to take a few minutes at most. But then The Acren had told her that there were strong forces preventing them from actually getting the identity of the killer, but that they would continue trying until they got to learn the truth. Because they too, wanted justice for her child.
He had been the future king of the kingdom, and now Raza would have no choice but to give it over to Nishka. Her step daughter. The girl who she had not birthed, who she wasn't even fond of. Her power was too weak, otherwise she would have thought of something to do inorder to rescue her son. She was not fit to be the queen!
" I hope you have the answers I seek, otherwise I have no wish to converse with you. " She clearly informed Klara. The witch might be stronger than she was but she was the queen. She ruled. They had no choice but to bow to her and fulfill her every wish.
Klara locked her fingers together Infront of her. Her long blonde hair held in a sleek ponytail and braided. She looked Raza straight in the eye and nodded.
Raza's heart gained speed. She sat up straighter on the throne and swallowed hard. Then she closed her eyes and uttered the single word, " Who?"
The answer took a bit longer than expected. And when she did Raza frowned in confusion and tried to understand what was being said to her.
" It was a goddess by the name Phoenix, she originated from Zalian but was presumed dead in the great war that occured centuries past, "
" I fail to understand, are you trying to tell me that a goddess did this?"
Klara affirmed.
Raza thought that The Acren had, for the first time in history, made a mistake. But she seemed so sure if what she was saying. Goddesses and their entire kind were non-existent as far as everyone knew. They had all been wiped out centuries before her birth. And if what Klara said proved to be true then the threat was bigger than she had first thought.
" So this was all the work of Zalian?" She asked herself. Klara tried to correct her. Saying that she didn't think that was the case, that she was almost certain the goddess was an enemy to Zalian itself, but her mind was already made up.
Zalian had killed her son, the kingdom and every being that resided in it. She fisted her hands and slowly rose from her throne, her eyes narrowed in anger and rage. The pain only a mother could know.
" If it's war they want then war they shall get, " she said.

Over at Zalian, everyone was in a taste of helplessness. The air was gloomy and tinged with broken hopes. And Nuriel still held on to Flame because he wanted her back. That wasn't his mate. She refused to respond to a word he said. It was already nightfall and yet Sheila remained missing.
Her family had lost hope, Nuriel had heard her mother's scream from their chambers.
" You can't do this now m'eudail. Zalian needs you....I need you," he told her, his palm cradling her cheek gently. She blinked, but there was no other action from her end. The others insisted on searching, especially Andres who had set out on his own. But as the time flew a few of the angels had also lost hope. But they all kept looking because it was their duty. And because returning to the Triecan would only serve to prove that there was nothing they could do. That they had failed the kingdom they had sworn to serve.
He heard a knock on the door and asked whoever it was to come in. Drexel entered the Victor walked in. The angel looked exhausted, his eyes fell to his best friend's mate and he couldn't help but feel for them both.
" You're back?" Nuriel asked, letting go of Flame and shifting to stand. Victor nodded and finally pulled his gaze from Flame.
" Aziel and I. We had to fly Rehan back, " Nuriel frowned and grew worried all over again. Wondering what could have happened to Rehan. He thought that perhaps the angel's wings of compulsion had attracted a local being who hadn't been able to fight the desire to touch them. But when he asked Victor assured him that wasn't the case.
" He was fine, then he suddenly just fell on his knees. Said he felt weak, too weak to fly even. " Victor still sounded worried even as he said that. Still tried to erase that memory from his mind, at first they had all thought that Phoenix had something to do with Rehan's state.
The things happening were becoming almost too much to bear. Glancing back at Flame, Nuriel walked over to her and kissed her forehead, then he told her that he loved her and that he would be right back. He didn't want to leave her alone but he had to go and check on Rehan.
" How are you fairing?" Victor asked him as they walked through the corridor on the way to Rehan's room. Nuriel sighed and chuckled sadly.
" What do you think brother?" He asked Victor who pressed a hand to his shoulder. Nuriel was aware of the fact that the fellow angel had gone to his chambers to offer his comfort and support. Otherwise he would have linked him with the news.
" There is no end to this, is there?" Nuriel asked.
" You can't think like that. Not you. Not the king. "
" Then how am I supposed to think? Did you see her Viktor? It's been hours and ..." the words broke off and he ran a hand through his dark hair. Looking both angry and frustrated.
" She just needs time to process everything, after which she'll have no choice but to face reality. "
That pained Nuriel to hear. Flame had been through enough as it was, she didn't need any more suffering. Zalian was supposed to be her escape, her refuge from the torment, but it had turned out to be much like earth. Was she never going to catch a break?
" We're pawns in all this. For all we know goddess has already awaken her mate and they're planning on what to do to make our lives harder!'
Viktor didn't try to console him this time. They had already arrived at Rehan's door, so he simply patted Nuriel's shoulder and said, " One day at a time, that is all we can do at this point. "

Rehan assured the two angels that he was okay. That he was just exhausted. Aziel was standing by the window. He had stayed behind just incase Rehan's condition got worse.
He sat up in his bed and reached his hand to the back of his neck, massaging the tension from his muscles. Nuriel placed a hand on his waist and threw Viktor a glance. He didn't want to say anything but the angel looked quite disturbed lately. And the worst part was that they couldn't call a healer to check up on him, that would only make things worse because of his wings.
" Are you certain you feel better now?" Viktor asked him and he nodded. Aziel took slow steps towards him and asked him to rest, that perhaps he had been straining his energy too much. Rehan closed his eyes and opened them, the color, and that of his wings changing from brown to a red so deep the others were slightly intrigued. They had seen the angels wings change into a lot of shades but that was definitely new.
