Everyone could tell that he had been intending to say something.
" You may speak freely, " Nuriel told the scholar. He once again seemed to be considering something, then he shook his head.
" I think it would be best if I ask the queen in private, " he said and everyone glanced at him then at each other.
" More secrets. Wonderful! " Aziel muttered under his breath. Kael was busy walking around the room. Kalen pointed to Rehan's vacant seat and asked Caspian to please occupy it. His principles and morals shining through despite the circumstances. Flame narrowed her gaze, then she looked at all the other angels in the council room She knew that they would never be able to properly communicate if she still kept things from them, and even though she didn't feel anything like a queen at the moment, she still felt it as her sense of duty took over.
" That's okay, I give you the permission to say whatever it is you wish to, "
Caspian asked her whether she was certain and she assured him hat she was. Everyone grew curious, the entire room went quiet as they waited for the keeper of words to talk. He cleared his throat, already seated. Then he leaned towards the table and locked his fingers together on its surface. It was actually a great honor for him to be in the presence of the entire council of Balance. That was a privilege that the other beings seldom got. So for him to actually sit at the same table as all of them was almost overwhelming. He had had to force himself to relax when he walked in there. Looking at Flame, he tried to think of the way to both ask and tell her whatever it was he needed to tell her. It really would have been better had she let him discuss it with her in private, it was a piece of knowledge he had forgotten to tell the angel Kalen the first time they had talked. But that had been because it had slipped his mind, and later, when he remembered the detail he had been sure it was nothing to worry about.
" The aged writings mention that to wake a god you require pure blood freely given, " he began and the golden angel Kael said they already knew that.
" Yes, but some research was done during the time and apparently the term ' pure ' doesn't generally mean what you might think it does, " he continued. The others grew both interested and confused.
" What does it mean then?" Phelan asked after the silence stretched for too long. His eyes with the silver stars gleaming with curiosity. Making the angel seem too much like a wonder, like a being whose main duty was to attract and fascinate.
" My queen, forgive me for asking this but I have no other choice, " Caspian said and Flame told him to just go ahead and ask.
" Are you untouched?" He finally asked, Flame's brows arched up and she wondered whether he meant what she thought he did.
" Untouched?" She asked and he seemed completely uncomfortable.
" A virgin milady, " he clarified.
Flame's cheeks burnt with colour and she suddenly almost regretted letting him ask her the question in public. Then she turned to Nuriel on the opposite end of the table and found him looking at her keenly. His hand now fisted and his eyes narrowed. She saw the promise of a glow in them. She licked her dry lips and looked away. He was waiting for her response and she feared giving it because she knew he would probably not like it.
" No, " was all she said. Then Caspian nodded and straightened his spine.
" Then you have nothing to worry about, your blood wasn't pure hence it wouldn't help to wake the god, "
All the other angels were completely relieved. It showed. They all started mumbling about how they had one less thing to worry about and how they only had to focus on Phoenix. She saw their hope as it took root inside them once more. She was also happy. Why wouldn't she be? It meant that she wouldn't be the one responsible for the rise of yet another sadistic serial killer. She smiled a subtle smile, still feeling a little uncomfortable about her private information being out in the open but glad that ni one seemed to be so focused on it. Apart from Nuriel that is. He still looked as if he was thinking about her answer.
She didn't know why he looked so upset over it, he had never asked her whether she was a virgin. And besides, why would that be important? After a few more minutes, he called the meeting to an end and asked Kalen and some of the others to go and dine with the scholar as a sign of hospitality and respect. Then he shot Flame a look and for the first time in a while, he used his abilities in her and willed her to walk over to him. She grit her teeth and angrily glared at him. He was acting completely illogical. After she got to where he was he placed his hand in her lower back and steered her towards the exit and out of there. He didn't utter a single word until they got to their chambers and he shut the door behind him.
" I swear if you're planning on asking me what I think you are then I'll walk out that door and leave, " were the first words she uttered. Her chin held up as she looked at him. Nuriel ran a hand over his face and then placed it in his hip. His wings now spread behind him, making him look majestic... beautiful. But his hidden anger almost chased away that beauty.
" Oh my God! Angel, are you seriously angry with me because I'm not a virgin? That is the most misogynistic-"
" Of course that's not the case!" He cut her off, he wasn't as petty as that. The only issue was that he didn't want to ever picture her with anyone else, he confessed that to her and she smiled sweetly, walking over to him and wrapping her arms around him.
" It was just one guy!"
" Spare me the details please, I don't know him but I swear the thoughts going through my head are purely sinister. "
She laughed, leaning closer and taking in his scent into her lungs. Then she cradled his magnificent face in her hands and kissed him long and hard.
" I was seventeen, and drunk.... and lonely, " she confessed. Thinking about the eighteen year old boy she had let comfort her that night before things got a little out of hand and they ended up doing it in a dark alley. The experience was nothing like what she had expected it to be, it was just uncomfortable and weird she was almost positive it had been his first time as well. So they had their fifteen or so minutes of faked fun before both going on their separate ways.
" I hated it, just so you know, " she added and he sighed.
" I'm actually very glad to hear that, "
She laughed once more. Then she looked up at him and found him staring at her deeply. His chest rising and falling with his hitched breaths. He suddenly grew conscious of the fact that it had been so long since he touched her. And he remembered how she had been trying to get him to mark her and he just turned her down. Had he known that there would be no harm in it, he would have marked her ages ago. He ran the back of his hand over her cheek, down her neck and over her chest. The desire he had fought to try and bury rising to the surface with profound intensity. She recognized that look.
And inorder to show him how ready she truly was, she took two steyp back and slowly began to undress. He watched her swift movements, casting his glowing eyes on every part of her skin that she exposed to him. And when she suddenly stood completely bare before him, he wasn't able to control himself much longer.
" I'll make you scream, " he promised in that low and husky voice that sent prickles down her entire form. She bit her bottom lip, reaching out to touch him when he was finally close enough. Running her hand down the planes of his chest before she held his arousal in her hand and watched him squeeze his eyes shut.
" I'm going to mark you m'eudail, " he murmured the promise. She looked at him with unfiltered list and desire. " It's about damn time, " the comment would have made him smile but he was too focused on her. He picked her up and took her to the bed. Then he stood beside it and let his eyes roam over her as he took of the garments he had on. When he was done she would be his in every sense of the word. They would be permanently linked together for centuries to come. And he wanted nothing more than that. There was still the issue with Phoenix but as long as she hadn't hurt anyone else then they could always try to save it later on. With those thoughts aside he got on the bed and covered her body with his.
