Chapter 54

The school day seems to hold no welcome reprieve for any of us, as i feel the day just carries the bland feeling of being disastrous.

Oakley has that steel look on her face as she hides the urge to let the pain out with an expression like stone. She follows us to school and Scott dosen't ask any questions, just allows her to mourn as she puts her head on his shoulder and cries her heart out. She says she's enrolling with us now. She had only wanted to go back as she felt Nick needed her.

She told me all about him on the way to school, how he'd been the new kid at school and she had fallen in love with blood red hair. She told me of how he seemed to be the nicest person ever, and they'd fought over almost everything the first days she'd known him.

This had all happened two years ago and she knew immidiately that she liked him. They had lived the past year and a half moving from enemies, to friends, then back to enemies and like that all over again.

He had grown the past year, not just in size and maturity but also I popularity. He was the most popular boy in school, and she had told me of how her heart couldn't help but break each time she'd seen him with another girl.

She told me of how his eyes were a dark brown, like you could get lost In them if you stared into them too much. She told me of how much she ached for him each time she saw him pass, of how much she wanted them to share thier easy jokes the way they used to once more.

She recalled the way they'd finally told each other about thier feelings in the most clumsy way possible. They'd slipped letters in each other's lockers, but somewhere along the line there was a misunderstanding and so both sides had to come together and outright speak of what they felt for each other.

The memories seem similar to mine, as i can remember the same way Aron had told me he loved me too.

The way he'd said he went crazy every time he saw me pass by. The way he seemed to look at me with that special glint in his eyes. I want to tell her she can stop, since I can feel the pain radiating off every word she says. This hurts her more than I  can imagine and I want her to stop.

She shouldn't be in pain, she had given him everything, every little bit of herself she'd poured it out, even the parts that I had refused to give to Aron. She's supposed to still be with him, but she's not and that's what breaks her. She'd given it her all, so she should still have the guy but here she is regretting every single moment of it.

A person's gaze lands on mine as I see warm ash eyes look at me with a smile on his face. I positively melt.
