Clay is looking at me with something of surprise in his eyes and I'm guessing this is the first time he has actually seen me eat. I'm guessing I have proved countless times now that I'm an absolute gluton, but yet I don't think Clay has ever witnessed it firsthand. Well he might have witnessed it when we went to the restaurant yesterday but I'm guessing this is a whole new level of mastery to him.
I had finished what would be a medium sized bowl of ice cream in barely ten minutes and I had enjoyed every scoop of it. Oakley was simply taking hers in slow bits no doubt to spite me later on when I had finished mine and I was anxiously looking for more.
That was the time that she'd use it to tempt me and make me go into deals with herz deals that will leave me cleaning her room for the next week to come.
"Don't expect me to beg anything from you today" I say as I take out my credit card and flash it in front of her.
"I'm not expecting you to take anything from me, Clay is paying for all our ice cream after all isn't he?". I practically choke on something in my throat as she spits these words.
"Exactly how shameless are you?" I whisper to her and she leans back in to whisper to me "exactly what gain will shame get you" she whispers in return with something of a wise air in her words.
I simply shake my head and start contemplating ordering another bowl of ice cream, if I order another bowl of ice cream I'm inevitably going to get fat someday, somehow, and I don't think eating two bowls of ice cream in the same day is practically healthy.
I realise the person sitting across us is simply staring at the both of us with something of an amused expression in his eyes, and I clear my throat so he can stop staring at us.
"So how has your day been?x I ask. I know it is a flimsy way to start a conversation but that is the only way I know, that is the only way I can think of starting a conversation with Clay at this moment. I'm guessing i haven't pointed this out before but I am lousy at starting conversations.
I'm even more lousy than Scott, Scott can practically get a conversation going just with a snide remark, or an unwelcome comments. No matter how nice I try to be the conversation always ends up dying after the first few minutes.
Clay simply shrugs his shoulders as he looks into his bowl of ice cream. "It's been okay, there was no class today so I thought I would come out and get myself something to do".
"And by something to do you mean happily eating ice cream?"
"You saw me smiling didn't you?" he asks and I let out an amused laugh.
"You have a really cute smile". He smiles a little bit contentedly at this and Oakley coughs beside the both of us.
"Looks like we have some unwelcome company".
