He says and I look up at him, eyes still wet from the tears streaming down my cheeks, heart freshly broken from the public humiliation and betrayal that was Lucas's breakup. I can faintly make out the first droppings of snow floating magically under the light of the street lamps. It's that time of the year, a time for wool coats, a time for relaxing, none of which I'll be doing. "I'm an orphan with a wicked aunt and a boyfriend who left her because she has nothing to her name, how could I possibly help you?" I say another sob escaping my lips. "Marry me" he replies and my eyes widen in anger. Is he mocking me?. I look into the eyes of this stranger and see he's dead serious. "I need a wife, you need a home, marry me and you'll have all you want". I nod.

"You seem to be making quite the number of enemies" Adrian says a little laugh escaping his mouth and I simply whip my hair back a little.

Well I had expected it to look like one of those cliché moments when someone would say something, and then there would be this dramatic perfect hair flip which showed a lot of confidence.

Adrian simply laughed at my silly attempt to recreate it and I hit him a little bit by the hand.

It seems he is considerably less nervous now and he squeezes my hand once more. I squeeze his own back.

"Don't worry, you'll be fine. You are practically the strongest person I know" I say trying to hype him up a little bit.

"Exactly how many people do you know?" he says and i erupt into a blush.

"Even if I don't know many, I still know some, and I'm confident enough to tell you that you are among one of the strongest people I know. You are going to ace this because you have a good heart.

You'll win because you want to ensure that your family is safe, and finally because you won't do just anything to get what you want".

I know that I don't know anything of who Adrian was before all this, I don't know anything of exactly the sort of person he was, but from his current character now, from his nature, I can get that he loves his family really much. I can guess that he wants to start doing things the right way, he wants to start doing things the decent way because Charlotte had unknowingly revealed something to him.

Charlotte's actions revealed that there is no gain in being dishonest, there is no gain in cutting corners and now he wants to do things the right way, he will win because of this, because there is no way someone with such a pure heart is bound to lose.

I say my last sentence out loud and he shoots me an appreciative stare.

"I don't really I don't know what I would have done without you" he says and I do the dramatic hair flip again, using one of my hands and flipping my hair over my shoulder.

"Exactly, what would you have done without me?".

The two people behind me erupt into a laugh and I erupt into a blush, as only now do I realise that Arden and Alice are still walking behind us, still observing the both of us with an amused yet pleased expression on their faces.

I really don't know how I will cope when I finally have to leave here, I will miss them like hell. I decide not to think about that and I focus on this situation that is right in front of me.

The games are about to begin, the fighting pit is the only game that Adrian will go for, unfortunately it's the same game that almost all the big shots here will go for, and it strikes me that i don't even know who a big shot is and who is not.
