He says and I look up at him, eyes still wet from the tears streaming down my cheeks, heart freshly broken from the public humiliation and betrayal that was Lucas's breakup. I can faintly make out the first droppings of snow floating magically under the light of the street lamps. It's that time of the year, a time for wool coats, a time for relaxing, none of which I'll be doing. "I'm an orphan with a wicked aunt and a boyfriend who left her because she has nothing to her name, how could I possibly help you?" I say another sob escaping my lips. "Marry me" he replies and my eyes widen in anger. Is he mocking me?. I look into the eyes of this stranger and see he's dead serious. "I need a wife, you need a home, marry me and you'll have all you want". I nod.

A Snowy Marriage (A Christmas agreement)

I have noticed one person in the course of all this, one person whose eyes have decided not to leave me as I watch each and every other person for any sign of weakness that they show.

"Who is he?" I ask Arden not even deeming it fit to look at said person.

She has been shooting him daggers with her eyes ever since his gaze settled on me, but for some odd reason he seems to persit. He seems to stubbornly continue his little quest of looking at me and making me feel insecure, insecure enough I want to scream and throw a shoe at that demented smile that he wears on his face.

"I'm guessing that i would be a stock or tradeable item to him?" I ask using my nose as a pointer in this case.

Arden simply laughs at this and I smile a little bit. I can't be acting all flustered and pointing around in this sort of a situation, I have to look calm, compose, and at least intimidating, just a little bit.

She nods her head as she looks at me.

We simply erupt into a fit of giggles and I can already see the annoyed look on whoever this guy is.

"I'm guessing that he's planning to kill Adrian, and then take me over as some sort of inheritance then?" I ask and she nods her head in a very simple way.

"I won't let that happen though" she says and for some weird reason I shoot her a grateful look, and then a confident smile falls on my face.

"You won't have to, Adrian will win" I say.

I said exactly what I wanted to hear. I am still very very wary of exactly how much confidence they have in him, I'm still waiting on exactly how much confidence I have in him because with what I have seen here, whoever loses gets to die, and if it is between him and Damen, if it is between him and Damen.......

"Arden, does one person have to kill the other every time a win happens?" I ask.

I'm still looking at the dead corpse that is splayed out on the floor.

"They don't, but most of them are given the orders to, to send a message to the teeming crowd that is watching them" she says waving her hand around.

Sure enough I can see the horrified look on the faces of some people, I can also see the thankful and privileged look on the faces of others, others who were thankful that they don't have to carry out this sort of activity themselves, they don't have to fight for thier dignity themselves, instead they leave it to others to fight for them.

If they lose at besrt a few tokens are lost, at worst they lose their standing in this place, but yet they still keep their life with life comes hope, and I am simply disgusted by their actions.

Adrian will prove them wrong. People should have dignity after all.
