Chapter 39

He just stood there staring at us. The headlight of the car was still on, so I could see him clearly. I could have sworn I saw a man standing there, but no, it was a wolf.  I looked into his maroon eyes and I felt like he was calling out to me. I didn't even know when I opened the door, I was stepping out of the car when I heard Nicky's voice.  

"Where are you going Sophia?" She asked. I didn't reply, I was walking towards the wolf, I know Nicky was following me cause her hands were still clutching me.  I stopped walking immediately I saw a cream coloured wolf behind my maroon eyes. I didn't know when I shouted.

"Behind you” He turned immediately and hit the wolf really hard, they began to fight, it was a horrible sight. He tore the cream coloured wolf but the beast injured his arm. He was bleeding badly, and he looked tired.  I walked to him. I bent down, I can't even explain where that courage came from, me kneeling beside a wolf. And since when did I start caring for wolves, few days ago I was crying of killing any wolf I see even though I know I couldn't, but here I am today tending to a wolf's wound. But what I saw tonight made me realize that this is not just a wolf, it’s a werewolf, in fact a lycan and so were the two other wolves he devoured.  After tying the wonderful arm with my handkerchief, I turned to Nicky who was staring down at the wolf, if it was possible her eyes would have fallen off.  

"Nicky, please go to my purse and get my bottle water, he needs some water." I asked her, but she didn't respond, she kept pointing at the wolf.  

"Nicky, I know it's crazy but he is hurt, just get the water" I pleaded.  

"You might wanna look at him Sophia" she said.  

"Nicky please, go get the wa..."  

"No, really, look at him" she pointed. I sighed and turned to the wolf and I almost jumped out of my skin as I watched Bennett trying to tie the handkerchief very well. I don't understand, where did Bennett come from, where did the wolf go to. Bennett stood up and turned to me, his maroon eyes where sparkling. Maroon eyes? Could Bennett be.... Is Bennett the... It's not possible, I know werewolves are half humans and half wolves but Bennett being one of them... How?  

"I can explain Sophia" he said.  I didn't know why but I slapped him, I'm not just angry with him for being a wolf but also for making me fall in love with him. A wolf.  "Sophia please listen to me...."  Another slap landed on his cheek, but I feel like I'm the one receiving the slaps because everything became blurry, my head started spinning, I felt like it is about to explode. I was hearing Bennett voice but it was fading.
