Chapter83: look tired

"Alex, son, you don't have to do all that. You didn't answer the question I asked, what did you mean by starting a company?"his dad asked.

"It was just a slip of the tongue. I'm ain't doing nothing."Alex said but his father looked at him suspiciously but he didn't talk anything else."is mom doing okay?"Alex added just to change the subject.

"I thought I answered that?"his dad asked chuckling.

"I know you did but I just miss her. You know how we are. I mean our relationship is not the best. She doesn't call me and I am scared of calling her."Alex said sadly.

"I think she misses you but she doesn't want to admit it. You should come visit her."his dad said.

"Yeah I'll think of a day."Alex said but in all that conversation he didn't talk about Kimberly at all.

"I need to see the company's files. This company's files. I want to see how it's doing."his dad said and Alex laughed.

"You want to look at them? Don't you trust me? I've been managing it until it's to this stage. It's one of the best companies dad. Even better than yours. It's a multibillion dollars company."Alex bragged to his dad about Lexi Cop.

"You don't need to rub it on me. Mine is also a multibillion dollars company. So there is no difference."his dad said chuckling.

"I know but still, Lexi Cop is at the top. I'm gonna give you the files because I trust you and also I have something I need to do. I can't talk to you all day dad. Don't you do anything fishy because I would know."Alex warned his dad as he stood and went to his Safe and pressed his fingers for finger prints." You can access them but remember don't do anything fishy."

His dad rolled his eyes and walked up to where Alex stood." What happened to trusting me. How would I do something fishy when I want your company to prosper. I want you to shine son."his dad told him pressing his shoulder and Alex chuckled.

"I know dad, I know. Now if you may excuse me, I got work to do. You can sit on the couch and read the files or whatever you want to look at. I'm a genius you know that. There's no mistake in them."Alex bragged again going back to his seat and his dad laughed.

"Such a narcissist son."his dad mumbled going to sit at the couch with a couple of files.

"I heard that dad."Alex glared at his dad who just chuckled.

"What makes you think I care if you heard anything?"his dad replied and Alex shook his head. Damn,  his dad has not Lost his edge huuh? He said to himself but he smiled anyway. They got to work everybody doing  something different.

I sat in my office looking at my watch every now and then because I wanted the clock hand to hit 12:00 I get off work. I haven't concentrated enough today because my mind is thinking of Alex and how he is. I need to see him to make sure he's fine and I'm planning on visiting him during lunch time maybe buy him some lunch as an excuse why I am going to visit him. Today I didn't have much work anyway and I have most of the day to myself. The morning was the only time I was busy the rest of the day I'll be free if I'm not wrong. Well that what my secretary said though.

The clock hit the time I had been waiting for and I stood up arranged my bag and left the office. I met Angela at her desk and I smiled at her.

"Angela, I'm going out for lunch. I would have invited you but I'm going to Alex's office."I told her.

"Don't worry ma'am it's okay."Angela said and I nodded at her and left. When I reached the parking lot I cursed when I remembered I didn't have a car and I have a bloody driver who is obviously waiting for me to drive me. I thought of escaping and when I was about to do that I heard his voice calling my name.

"Ma'am, are you going somewhere?"he asked and I turned around to look at him.

"Don't you have anything else to do Jaden. I'm fine I don't need a driver."I told him but he just smiled professionally.

"Driving you is my job ma'am. So get in the car if you are going somewhere."I looked at him for a few seconds but I walked up to the car anyway. He opened the door and I got in. I can't do anything about it because Alex is an asshole.

"Where to ma'am?"he asked starting the car.

"I need to go to Alex's place of work but before that I need you to take me to my favourite restaurant. You know it right. Your master or whatever you call him, told you everything right?"I asked but I was just checking if Alex is crazy enough to tell his driver my favourite restaurant.

"Yes ma'am. I know where it is."he replied and I rolled my eyes. Alex is a psycho for sure.

"Fine, drive there first then take me to his office."I told him and nodded then he drove away. We reached the restaurant and I was about to get out when I remembered this man has been waiting for me for hours so he has not had lunch." What food do you want to eat Jaden? I don't take no for an answer."I told him and I saw his shocked face and then him struggling to talk. Why is it hard to answer such a simple question.

"Ma'am, you are not supposed to be doing that. I'm okay."Jaden replied because he knows if his boss come to know that his woman bought him lunch then he would be dead meat.

"Okay. I'm just gonna buy what I think is good. I said I don't take no for an answer."I told him then I got out. After about thirty minutes I came back with a paper bag full of food and I handed Jaden some which he refused but I insisted anyway. He took the box and then he drove to Alex's company. Of course you would notice it. It was one of the biggest building around.

When we reached it, I got out and I headed straight to his private elevator. The guards there started giving me a hard time.

", Ma'am, this elevator is private no one can enter except the boss himself."one of the guard said looking at me like I'm some gangster or something.

"I'm his girlfriend."I tried telling them but they didn't bulge from their positions. I sighed and I was about to go to the regular elevator when I heard Jaden's voice.

"Eric, let her in if you want to keep your job."Jaden said and that's when the guard moved aside. I smiled at Jaden thanking him and I got in. The last time I was in Alex's office when he gave me the most memorable kiss they were not around maybe else, they would have noticed me.

I went to the top floor and I got out of the elevator. I walked up to Alex's office and I was met by his assistant who was pacing back and forth at the door. He looked stressed and I wondered why.

"Heey Peter."I greeted him and he turned to look at me surprised.

"Ma'am, I didn't know you were coming?"he said and I smiled.

"It's a surprise. Is he in?"I asked him and he looked nervous. Why is he nervous?

"Ma'am, I think the boss is angry at me. I don't know how to inform him you are here."he said and I smiled.

"Don't worry I'll get in. Furthermore, it's a surprise. I'll try talking to him to loosen up."I told him and he thanked me but I just smiled and turned the door knob and got in.

I found Alex busy on his laptop and he didn't even look up. I dropped the bags of food on the coffee table not far from his desk and went to his chair and stood next to him that's when he looked up and I saw his surprised face. Damn he looked tired. No wonder I have been worried all day.

"Baby?"he called my name and I smiled at him moving closer to him and I sat on his laps which he welcomed me with open arms.

"You look tired."I told him lifting my hands to trace the black circles under his eyes.
