Chapter 64- Diana.

Raina's POV.

Hearing what Lyn said about Diana made me take a good look at her, I only spared her a passing glance before, I actually spared lots of people passing glances, except for Victor who kept throwing jabs at Bas and I.

Staring at Diana perfectly I noticed her diamond shaped face, she was actually pretty, she had medium sized lips, hooded eyes, cheekbones, pointed nose, and full eyebrows.

I startled a little when I heard a melodious tune play, I felt everyone attention drifting to the sound, whoever played that made the right choice but it didn't change how I really felt about what was going on.

I noticed the people who sat close to her, they must be her family she looked like them, it was obvious she wasn't Bas and Lyn's cousin like Gabriel or Victor, she must be a family friend or a vampire family to Bas like he said earlier.

"Will you eat this, I prepared this since you liked it a lot when we went out that day." Bas said and I turned my attention to him, I smiled at him and took the chicken be gave me, he was really thoughtful, I needed something that'll distract my thoughts for a while, and this chicken was going to do it.

I started eating the chicken gleefully with a smile, Bas was really a good cook, I could see them eat their meal once I started eating, they faced me , I felt stares, but I didn't really care right now, I will think about it later, the chicken was really working in distracting me from my thoughts right now, after finishing the chicken I turned to Bas to thank him, and I realized he had been staring at me all along, I didn't know when or how, but his attention had been on me and that made everyone's attention on us.

We were like stars of a particular play and everyone watched us, taking in our every gestures.

"I see you're still obsessed with Chicken, and Bas is still obsessed with watching you eat." Lyn said with a smile, I offered a small smile to her, she's trying to make small talk to lift off the tension, but it looked like she was actually making it worse when she talked about that, cause I felt a very sharp stare to me and turning once more to the direction, I met Diana's stare.

She stared at me for a long while titling her head from side to side, looking at me for a long time.

"Don't bother, your powers won't work on her." I heard Bas say and I stilled staring at her, she was trying to hurt me right now.

I felt my phone ding and I brought it out slowly, it was a message from Lyn.

Lyn: You know Bas read minds right, so he's actually reading the mind or hearing her the thoughts of everyone in this room except you. We don't know why our powers don't work on you, you're the only human who must have some kind of immunity to our powers, and Diana's power causes pain, she must have thought of doing that to attack you, I feel like the only thing that could work on you, is us hurting you, using our fangs and strength.

I dropped my phone on my lap shakily after reading Lyn's message, it terrified me for once that I was really seated among vampires and I could get hurt any time soon.

I looked at Diana again and she smirked at me, I was definitely furious.

I didn't like what she did and how easily she unnerved me, she must have felt the fear roll off me, because they could sense feelings easily than humans. I felt Bas hands grip mine in a comforting manner, I turned to him and he offered a small smile.

"Hmm," I heard Diana scoff, " what a joke, a total joke." She said.

"Yeah, I also think you're a joke, so I'm glad you're mentioning jokes right now, you must have been tired of being a joke for a while since I came in here." I said and everyone stilled, their attention was now to me, but I really didn't care this time.

"Are you trying to be mouthy or something?" Diana asked I felt the smile slip of her face and I smiled.

"No I'm not, I'm just stating facts, forgive me if it offends you," I paused and took another chicken, Bas has placed another plate close to me.

"What the heck do you mean by that statement?" She yelled.

"That's enough Diana," her mother said, "you shouldn't talk like that, you really have no manners." The mother turned to me.

"I thought almost everyone here didn't have one with the way they talked to me since I came here, including your daughter," I paused and took another bite of the chicken, "or should I take it since I'm a mere weak human?" I asked.

"You should be even happy you're in our presence, no one just sit among us." Diana bit out venomously.

"And why would I be happy?" I asked her and she scoffed rolling her eyes.

"You must really rate yourself, you're just a measly Human, a mere human, who could not even stand the sight of staying with Vampires like us, you were literally vibrating with fear, and you feel you can say anything?" Diana asked furiously.

"I was shivering and scared because knowing about vampires, I've found out something some of y'all have in common, and that's being cowardly, you clearly tried to attack because you thought you could?" I said with a smile and she stood up from her seat pointing hands at me with sharp talons, I scoffed and she wanted to jump over to my place, her parents kept tugging her hands.

"What they heck do you know about being cowardly?" She asked.

"What you just did, what those vampires who kidnapped me did, you have a lot in common with them, it's pathetic to say the least." I said and she screamed, everyone turned to me but I didn't really care anymore what they thought, this Diana of a person was really irritating me, I couldn't stand it anymore that's why I had to say something.

I turned to my right and met Bas smile, I smiled back, he didn't even waver since he came here, he was really true to his words of supporting me, he sat as though he was oblivious to what I said or to Diana's antics.

"I think that's enough, let's be civilised," Bas Grandfather said and everyone turned to him, he smiled as he wiped his mouth, "I admire your courage in standing up for yourself, it's really admirable for a human, but it's nothing new to the eyes, I've seen vampire females do this and more, they even match up in equality to the men." He said.

"I want someone who can stand with my grandson, someone who is powerful enough to stand by his side, someone who can make the Vampire council know that one day he'll be the true ruler there and no one else, and that person is not you Miss Raina." He said and I blanched, I didn't know he would say that, I didn't expect acceptance from him right away, but I didn't know he could say that.

"Now that's too harsh Grandfather, but thanks for saying it." Diana said with glee.

"I had to dear," he smiled at her, his smiled disappeared when he turned to me again, "miss Diana is the one for my grandson not you." He said.

"Father." Bas father warned and his grandfather shrugged, I saw everyone nod in agreement, his word seemed final in the house no one even said a word to him.

I opened my mouth to say something, but I felt a hand clutch my hands tightly.

"Wow,  I didn't know you had my life planned so thoroughly Grandfather, you're even saying things you've never told me, things I've never heard till today." Bas said to him.

"I'm doing this for your own good, it's for your future, it's the best thing, you won't regret it, so you have to drop this human girl wherever you picked her from, I don't care if she's your mate or not, it doesn't really matter." His grandfather skas with a shrug, continuing his meal, I could feel the smile leave Bas face.

"You don't get to choose what I want to do with my life, how I want to run shouldn't be your business." Bas said.

"What insolence, you should not say that to him." Diana's father said and Bas rolled his eyes.

"You mind your damn business, I'm not speaking to you." Bas said to Diana's father who gasped in shock.

"Sebastien." Diana said.

"What?" Bas shot back.

"Let me make one thing clear Grandpa, I'm not going to marry her, the only person I'll marry is Raina and that's it." Bas declared.

"You can't do that, I won't allow it." His grandfather glared at him.

"Oh trust me grandpa, I wasn't asking for permission." Bas shot back.
