Chapter 68

"but i fear that we might hurt ourselves with that gun strapped into your pants."

"...." how did he know their was a gun strapped to her pants? 

"Your father has developed a lot of enemies."

Her father? was he not just interested in kissing her? why was he suddenly talking about her father? She didn't care about her father or his stupid enemies. Maybe they could all meet up for once and kill themselves.

"He believes the right thing to do is to keep you safe," Jake continued.

"I am safe, i can protect myself."

"I thought when i informed you about your gun, you would check it but it seemed your fear of me finding out you are carrying a gun over shadowed the fact that i might actually have taken your gun," Jake smirked bringing out her gun from his side and placing it on her laps.

How did he take the gun? When did he take the gun? She stared at the gun then back at him in astonishment.

"It seems whoever has taught you how to fight has failed to teach you the importance of your sense of touch," Jake knew there was more than the gun strapped to her, he knew she had a pocket knife as well. He didn't know exactly where but he was sure that she did.

"You brought me out here to lecture me?"

Maya asked trying to divert the discussion from the shock, embarrassment, and annoyance she was feeling right now from what had just happened. She still didn't understand how he had done it successfully.

The only physical contact that demanded closure between the both of them was when he had whispered into her ears earlier and now that she thought about it she had been more into his voice than the fact that he had placed his hand over her waist.

How stupid was she to have been easily fooled by just his soothing voice and his cunny face.

She wondered what he must think of her now that he had been able to successfully fool her. She had to be extra careful around him as he didn't  seem like someone who could be trusted.

Why was she even thinking of the world trust right now? They didn't share any form of relationship that would warrant trust.

She didn't trust anyone and that was that.

"Not at all, i only wanted to spend time with you as it seems that we both hate boring events like this," Jake said even though that wasn't his initial intention, his initial intention was to kiss her the moment they were away from the crowd but he decided not to there were other pressing issues that had come to his notice the moment he got to the event.

Gustavo was hoping to place his daughter with any notable suitor that came her way in hopes that she would be protected that way from his enemies. He was trying to create an alliance through marriage and it reminded him of his own father who thought the same thing, he had believed that getting him married against his will would make things better for them.

The decision his father made without his knowledge forced him to leave the house, the country and change his name immediately. He heard his father was outraged by his disappearance and sent men to look for him but later forgot about him when he realized that even his other children were not going to partake in any of it.\

He instantly remembered his siblings and wondered how they were doing, he wasn't sure he was going to recognize them if he saw them but he knew they would definitely be doing well for themselves.

"Is this about the auction?" Maya asked finally taking the gun off her laps and placing it into her pants pocket, what was done was done and it wasn't going to be appropriate for her to keep wallowing in shame plus it wasn't going to be a good idea if anyone came right now and found the gun sitting on her lap.

"Auction?"

"My father's intention to marry me off to the highest bidder."

Jake stared at her then back at the lake, it seemed she knew far more than what he had given her credit for.

"My father is entitles to believe that things are going according to his plans," she had listened in on his conversation with Gustavo about organizing the event and bringing in notable suitors that might catch her eyes, the only thing she respected was his desire not to force her but to make her see reasons to marry any of them but the thought of him thinking that marriage was the only way annoyed her.

There were other ways around her getting protected to having to marry any of the bastards son, that wasn't how she had imagined herself getting married if she was ever going to get married.

She wondered if Jake was any of their son but his surname wasn't on any of the list, so he was probably an orphan or somethings because she was sure if he wasn't an orphan he would have been placed on that list as well but how did he also know about it. Well maybe her father informed every single person he invited just incase of anything.

"So you do agree to an alliance through marriage?" Jake asked not planning on believing she was that kind of woman who would be unhappy to please her own father or protect herself. It didn't look like her way or was he wrong about how he had perceived her the first day they met.

"Well, i do agree to it right after i cut his balls on our wedding night," he heard her say as he found himself laughing, he knew his instinct wasn't wrong.

"That sounds like a good plan."

"I don't know why people tend to indulge in such practice, this is the fucking.."

Thud.

They saw a two people falling from the balcony on the second floor into the lake.

"It is a pleasure to finally meet you," Gonzales said extending his hand as he shook Stephan, Matteo and Travis motioning them to take their sit afterwards. He was just coming back from the event where he found out that Jake and Maya had left to the back of the house, he was pleased to know that maybe Jake had an interest in her, he immediately informed Gustavo to call Stephan so they could meet in his office and discuss about the current situation.

"Same here." Stephan replied leaning into his chair.

"I know the current situation are not pleasing but i want to reassure you that your wife will be perfectly okay, our nurse is one of the best in town."

His wife.

Stephan chuckled inside, he loved the sound of that and he wondered if he had ever considered his relationship with Dawn to be more than what they were currently.

"I will need my men to be allowed to go back and get the others in the house," Stephan replied.

"Of course, i want you to feel at home here, you do not need to ask for my permission to do anything," Gonzales informed. This was his daughter family and he couldn't just put them on the side like that just because they were on his territory. He was pleased that she had been able to get married to a well known man who could protect her from issues like these and he was even more overwhelmed when the nurse had come to inform him that she was really struggling to keep her alive.

He didn't want her to die when they had not even met at all, he could only wonder who would have tried to harm her and from the look of things it seemed Stephan knew who as he seemed really came.

"She is pregnant."

"What? My.... She is really pregnant?" Wow, the news was overwhelming to him, the nurse had said she wanted to tell him something important but he had waved her off because he felt meeting Stephan was more important, was that what she wanted to inform him? Was she really pregnant? he leaned into his chair to understand the current situation, he couldn't even hide his emotions right now or create a blank expression, he was going to be a grand father.

He was going to be a grand father really soon, and he might have been without even knowing if non of these had not happened. He suddenly felt the need to tear up, he had not even figured out how he was going to talk to his daughter but now a grand child.

"Yes," Stephan replied. It felt like it was the first time he was admitting that he was having a child and that he wanted to let the world know about it.

"Can i see her now?" he asked regardless of the fact that he could always see her without their permission but right now his head was filled with so many thoughts.
