Chapter Twenty Seven

I can't continue to do this with you like this.

And now, I have to also deal with Cassie.

I just simply can't. She said as she wiped her tears.

So It about Carrie? Ray asked.

All this is about Carrie?

You can't take a dose of your own medicine? He began to sound livid but yet calm.

You can't, can you?

I still meet up with Albert, you don't see me running away. Ray said sarcastically.

You know it's not the same. Ray please, I'm begging you. She said with a crying tone as she continued to wipe the tears off her eyes.

I won't approve this, unfortunately. He said.

Truth is I need you here. Karen doesn't know much going on here.

You can take the day off, but that just it.

Now I would love to be excused.

Ray wasn't surprised when he didn't find her sitting by her desk later that day.

She must have finally decided to take the day off.

He hoped she developed a tougher skin because she would definitely be coming in contact with Cassie soon.

He wished he could explain to her how much he needed her here but unfortunately she wasn't more special than other staff, so she wont be getting that type of privileges.

He owed her no explanation and she better become familiar with that.

For some reasons, his gaze was by his entrance and that door now reminded him a certain scene.

A scene he wished he didn't remember and have an urge to repeat the experience all over again. He didn't go gentle and he had no regrets.

That bouncy ass in his view! How he wanted to spank them that very moment.

He wanted her again and now he wished she he didn't permit her to take the day off.

The next day felt different. Ray was engrossed with work and for the first time Amanda was late, he wanted to know her reasons but she must have let the manager know. Ray had left for the way house just behind the main building to check the stocks out with the manager.

Amanda had gone home the previous day, coming back a little courageous. She had decided that whatever Cassie would say to her if they eventually meet again would not faze her and she hoped her emotions could take  a break. She was late that morning and surprising got no query.

Karen wasn't on seat and neither was Ray.

So far, work was going great, maybe she needed Karen so she could talk all her worries away.

Amanda needed to confirm a document so she went to Rays office to retrieve it. The documents in her system didn't seem like the figures were correct so she needed the original soft copy to trace back. There were series of drawers in Rays table and she knew she would find it there. She had gotten the documents and now about leaving.  But Ray had come in.

What are you doing here? He asked, not in a harsh tone, maybe just common curiosity.

I was getting the original Stanton documents, it's seemed the hard copy is corresponding so am trying to trace the error.

Okay. Good. He said moving towards her.

Ray couldn't lose her, at least not now. He wasn't expecting to see her so he already told the manager she might not show up, so she won't be queried when she did.

She looked beautiful that morning. She for a fact looked beautiful everyday. Her full brown hair rounding her face, her full plush pink lips was eye catchy. Her clear skin. She was beautiful. She wore a silky peach dress. V neck which revealed her cleavage. It was long sleeve, a little short and she looked beautiful in it.

That causal office sex would definitely not be bad that morning. He thought.

Amanda moved away letting him move to his chair but he didn't seat. He loosened his ties as he dropped his tablet of the table. Amanda now stood just beside him but by the end of the table.

Somehow during the process of dropping tablet and her picking the retrieved file, their hand met. Her long slender hands with very appealing fingers. Her hands were soft and for some reasons he placed his hands on her.

Her hand was warm and soft. And she smelled nice, smelled like what he would love to have every morning before starting each day.

Their eye had met, their gaze locked. She was beautiful, he doubted if beautiful was enough to describe how gorgeous she looked. She got a little shy and she bit her lips before lowering her gaze and immediately moving it back to her.

He wanted to go for the lips, those soft lips. He was tempted but he couldn't stop wondering how many people she had kissed with it.

His hands on hers made her feel safe, but his gaze on her almost melted her. His gaze on her felt like the old times. It had all changed, Before she was introduced to a different side of Ray. The side that scared her.

She missed his kisses and she didn't mind going for it.

His hands had moved from her finger, now trailing up her shoulders as he moved her hair away from her face.

She could swear that he was leaning in, but a knock had hit the door before Karen immediately entered.

Oh sorry. I should definitely go. She said.

Ray moved his face down in frustration before moving it upwards to Amanda and then to karen.

It's fine, what is it?  He asked as Amanda left his side with the files she came for.

He noticed how Amanda and Karen had given each other a look as Karen giggled before finally giving him an attention.

I might need to be going back to Ontario she said.

This could have actually waited. He thought.

Why? He asked.

I got a new job from a big company, makes me so nervous. I can't miss it.

You will be fine. He said.

Yea, thanks. Karen responded as she now moved to his table.

And not to sound ungrateful but you were becoming a pain in the ass. Ray said as she burst out laughing.

But she paused almost very suddenly.

But you will be missed. He added.

I know you will cry in your rest room once I step out of here. She said jokingly with a chuckle.

Then you should get going because I have a few tears to shed.

They laughed before Ray went for a hug.

They detached from each other.

I know you will do well. Ray said as he slightly tapped her shoulders.

I know, thank you. She said as she almost teared up.

Amanda had gotten the news from Karen and she didn't find it appealing, but she was happy for her, happy for her growth and she knew she could do it.

Karen had stayed chatting with her for about an hour before they decide to go for lunch.

Karen informed Ray he would be borrowing her for an hour.

They drove to a nice restaurant some where in town.

Amanda ordered sea foods and Karen did strictly veggies.

So I wanna hear all about it. Karen said as her eyes lit up.

All about what? Amanda asked with a smile curling up her lips as she had something in mind.

Don't play dumb... Tell me. You and Ray.

Since finding out Karen was Ray's cousin, she knew that maybe she low-key knew about them. Ray might have also mentioned it to her, but maybe nothing detailed.

There is nothing to tell. It's all in the past. She said as she tried to mask the sadness that the thought brought.

If you ask me, this is only the beginning Because the chemistry between you two is all over the place.

Was she saying that Ray's countenance exudes a certain fondness for her?

I don't know, I messed up. She spoke with a sad tone as she couldn't conceal her sadness anymore.

She saw Karen now show concern in her expression.

Hey, it's okay. She said as she caressed her shoulders.

Ray himself isn't perfect too. She added.

You know what, let just eat and celebrate my new win.

They chatted and had lunch. She must confess she had a good time. It was like all her problems paused and she lived just for the moment. Karen was definitely good energy and a friend anyone would bask for.

Karen had dropped her off as she was back to her office. Quite the irony of how she felt the first time she was introduced to Karen. She felt a little sad seeing her desk empty.

She was to work alone from the next day, but she never thought having someone do part of her job was gonna feel this good.

It was almost four in the afternoon before she heard the entrance to Rays office open. Her heart skipped, in anxiety and excitement.

Cassie stepped out as Ray followed!

Now her heart sank.

Love, Lust and Cruelty out now on light reader.
