Chapter Seventy Nine: Will she?

Maybe one could love two people, but not equally. Ray said.

One would always be genuine love and the other Luxury and maybe leisure." He added.

"Isn't it ironical how you know about love but yet don't offer it...," Tyler said nonchalantly.

Ray thought about his last remark, he would have been sure if it was a year ago, he would have been certain he had nothing to offer when it came to love, but the current Ray wasn't sure anymore. If his current feeling for Amanda had nothing to do with love, why was he particular about everything that had to do with her? Even down to any slightest discomfort.

He sighed again, dismissing the idea of loving someone, then relaxing back on his office chair again.

Ray left Blazzers around 2 PM, Scott drove him where he met his lawyers to proceed with the final stage of his divorce since they had already finalized their settlement. Now finally towards the last stage of their divorce, he had gone to sign some documents before his lawyers would now file for judge approval.

After there, he went to meet a friend who happen to have a business deal to offer to Blazzer. They later went for a drink after their meeting and also enjoyed good music.

Amanda was back home, she was subconsciously looking out for Raymond, but he didn't seem to be getting back soon. She was now laying on her bed with her gaze on the ceiling. Her phone buzzed, she stretched out one of her hands, locating the phone to find a notification message which was from Mark.

"Hey, how have you been?" It said.

She was a little hesitant about giving a response, but why? Why was she acting unavailable while she was?

Besides, she wasn't busy, she only made herself look like a clown waiting on Raymond who didn't even know she was waiting.

And why was she waiting exactly? She didn't know! They were over with, she called the shot herself, so why was she the way she currently was?

"Hey, I'm good, thanks for asking, you?" She finally got herself to respond.

Her phone beeped again and it was a response from Mark.

"Doing great, been a little occupied recently. What about you? How has work been?"

"Fine, same old." She responded.

Mark took a while to respond, and before he eventually did, she had fallen asleep.

She just picked up her phone the next morning to see his response which came after she had slept.

"Okay, good to know. How about we hang out sometimes?"

She didn't know what to respond, especially now that her response was already over seven hours late.

Going out with him didn't sound that bad, but the question was, what were they going out as? Friends? Or was it like a proper date? She didn't know what she thought about going on a date with him. She didn't know if she was actually down for it, she just felt indifferent about it. Maybe he already concluded that she didn't want to go out with him. She scratched her hair thinking whether or a response from her was still needed.

She dropped her phone, concluding she would attend to that later.

She was now ready for work, she went downstairs to have breakfast before heading out. She saw the car Raymond had gone out with the previous day, he must have returned pretty late. She decided to take her attention off Ray concluding it wasn't good for her.

Ray was good at living his best life, and even presently would be no exception. She called what they had off and she didn't regret it especially remembering he had recently been visited and kissed by Laura. She knew how women were with him, they never let him go. She couldn't fight anyone and especially not Laura Brown. She couldn't also let herself wallow in sadness and jealousy so she was satisfied with her decision.

She elegantly stepped inside her car, today she knew she looked extraordinary flawless, so she wasn't going to let anything ruin her day.

She stepped into Blazzer that morning with a lot of heads turning, she knew she looked extra beautiful that morning which was intentional, but not to the extent of expecting people to turn and stare at her at this rate.

She intentionally wore extra makeup and had her dark Dior sunshades on.

She was wearing a knitted two pieces outfit. It was a check pattern fabric that had about four crossed lines of colors in it. Red, black, white, and grey. The two pieces were a skirt which was slightly high above her knee with a little one line floral design rounding the skirt, creating a one line of wave around it. She also had on a white strapless inner garment which held her boobs firmly and nicely. Then layering the inner garment was the second piece of the outfit, an open long sleeve jacket that went down to her bum. She accompanied the dress with a red stiletto shoe which was a little high, but she had absolutely no problem walking in it.

She wore her hair falling to her face and shoulders as she walked in, shoulders high. She showed her perfect dentition and said a few hellos.

She stepped into the elevator, still with her glasses, feeling a bit exquisite. She said a one-time hello which was for everyone on the elevator.

"You suddenly look like a cover page model and now you pretend not to see me?"

She heard Lang's from behind her, she turned and actually confirmed it was Lang.

"Hey, I didn't see you I promise,"

"Mm, that's what you get for wearing sunglasses in a cold weather."

"Stops me from seeing peasants," she turned to her direction, bending a little and whispered into Langs ear.

"If you are blind, just say it," Lang threw her shade right back.

Amanda let out a little laugh, giving up. She knew she couldn't stand Lang when it came to throwing shades.

They are pretty though, I might steal them "

"Per usual," Amanda responded.

The elevator had stopped to drop someone at the second to the last floor which it did, but Mark immediately replaced the man.

"Hey ladies," he said.

"Hey Mark," Lang responded loudly per usual.

"Hey," she responded in a not so motivated tone. She just felt a little discomfort with the fact that he had asked her something and she knew he expected a response from her.

"You look astonishingly beautiful this morning," he said to Amanda.

"Thank you," she responded with a smile. She knew that everyone in the elevator was listening, just like most people when people had anything going on in an elevator.

The elevator now got to the last floor as everyone got off. They walked together for a brief second before Lang took the turn that led to her office

"Can I take you to lunch during our break today?" He asked.

They were walking down the hallway to her office when he threw that question. Her previous unintentional silence couldn't get him to give up.

She didn't actually plan to have lunch outside the cafeteria that day. So, seeing herself outside Blazzer that day for lunch was not an idea she wanted to manifest.

"I can't, today," she said taking a peek at his face but continuing walking towards her destination.

"Why not," he asked.

'why not?' she repeated the question in her mind. 'why not?' she asked herself again. Apart from the fact that she didn't plan to eat outside that day, was there any other reason? Was that even reason enough?

If it was a certain person, would she have the same energy for him too?

So, why was she punishing herself?

What was she depriving herself of the opportunity to move on from Raymond?

Why did she act like she no more wanted anything sexual to do with Raymond, but deep down wanted everything to do with him?

"You know what, I don't think lunch together would actually hurt anyone, so, why not?

But it better be nice," she said with a smile, turned to  now face him as they finally got to the entrance of her office

"I won't disappoint, I promise," he said wearing a smile before backing away from her entrance.

"I will meet you Infront of the building by 12:30 PM sharp," she said before turning, opening her office entrance, and getting in.

The day was going by just like every other day. She attended to the numerous mails that needed her attention.

Ray had shown up at 11:30 AM that day.

He paused as his gaze caught her.

"What's with the face beat?" He asked with an uncertain faint smile on his lips.

Of course, Ray would know what a face beat was, after his numerous association with models, both national and international ones, he sure would know what a face beat was.

"How do you know that?" She asked accompanied by a captivating smile.

"What? Face beat?" He inquired curiosly.

"I don't know, the internet..." He said making an i don't know expression.

"If it's not from the internet, then it's just one of those things you just know without knowing how,"

"Okay," Amanda responded still with a smile.

"I love it by the way," Raymond said before proceeding to move towards his office.
