Lang was in the middle of Amanda's office, almost about leaving before she heard a sob from her restroom.
"Oh, shit," Lang muttered.
She raced to the entrance that led to the restroom and went for the knob to open the door, but she noticed it was locked.
"Hey," she called out, but no answer.
"Hey! Open the door," she called out again, but no answer.
Amanda sat there soaked in tears, she was hearing Lang from the other side but she just sat on the toilet seat and sobbed nonstop. She sniffed her nose, then used the back of her hand to wipe her nose.
'BANG BANG...'
Lang was now banging on the door but she only wished for her to go away.
Her eyes were heavy and she bet they were red and maybe swollen too.
'BANG BANG BANG...'
Lang went again, this time not only was the knock louder but it was beginning to get into her head.
"Go away!" she yelled as she continued sobbing.
"Leave me a l o n e, L a n g.……" Her sobbing increased as her speech became distorted.
"Hey sweetie," she heard Lang's soft tone call out to her.
"It's okay to cry," she continued.
Amanda was just sniffing her nose at this point, but she heard Lang clearly.
"I cry too, and it helps,"
Amanda might be in her feelings at that time, but she still thought about what her friend said.
'Lang cry?'
'she had never seen Lang in any crying mood, at least not for an unfortunate event, she had only seen her cry happy tears."
Lang was a strong woman, maybe a woman so strong and was able to fight off tears, or maybe she had never fallen in love with a man like Raymond.
"I JUST WANNA USE THE MIRROR, I PROMISE I won't OBSTRUCT YOUR CRYING," Lang yelled sarcastically from Amanda couldn't help but giggle.
"If you don't believe me, open..."
The door opening had disrupted Lang's statement, the door was unlocked now and Lang went ahead and still completed her joke.
" A n d s e e..."
Amanda opened the door slowly, unveiling herself.
She knew Lang was always in a joking mood, but she saw Lang's expression immediately change to pitty, and that even triggered her tears.
She began to sob but immediately reached to Lang, hugging her tight as Lang held onto her too.
"It's okay," Lang consoled her as she continued to cry.
"No, I t ' s n o t . . ." Amanda managed to say as she continued crying.
"I promise you this would pass," Lang ignored her as she began to rub her back.
"You Will be fine,"
Raymond had just pulled over at 24 suxxex drive where the prime minister of Canada lived with his family as mandated by the Canadian government.
It was time to say goodbye and the both of them seemed to lack where to start.
"You didn't review my book, as promised.
Maybe one more try?" Laura finally broke the silence, but that question made him prefer the silence.
"Umm..." Ray let out before scratching his hair trying to choose his words carefully.
"It was great out there today with you,"
'Uhh, hold on sir, that is a full brown lie.' Raymond snapped out of that voice in his head. It was a lie but it can't hurt her, because, after that little lie, he would tell her the truth.
"But..."
He paused, taking a look at her face, and reassured himself why he needed to let her know the truth.
"I don't think this should continue, it's a little obvious that you want more out of this, but I can't give you more, I don't feel that way about you."
He now took his gaze away from her, now on the road ahead.
"It's strictly platonic with me when I think about you."
Ray paused, believing she was heard him and was taking her time to just get his statement.
Her face seemed a little sad, but just a little.
She now looked up at him, and now he saw her sad eyes even though her face didn't show much of it.
"At least you think about me," she spoke in a gentle tone still wearing the same look.
'what the fuck!' was the only thing his mind could think of 'was this desperation?'
Why was she acting like she had no other choice, like she was unlikeable and Willing to deal with whatever he had to offer, even if it was the bare minimum?
"I appreciate you telling me the truth, in fact, I appreciate and admire you more now, coming out and telling me the truth.
But...
Unfortunately, your truthfulness only made me feel more drawn to you."
"Ray might need to tell this woman that he was a serial killer to be able to get her off his hook.'
"I believe time can change anything...
So, I will give you time." She said as she opened the car door before the security came to assist her down.
"I believe you will come around,' she added, before instructing the porter to offload her belongings from the car.
Ray was stunned, he was used to women wavering around him, but never the one that believed he would suddenly like them with time.
'is it time apart or what? Because he was sure that he preferred knowing her from a distance.
They were done with offloading, Laura's staff before they gave him a wave, signaling him that he was free to go.
Raymond had a long ride to the office, if he wasn't getting any peace, he might as well work that day.
He thought about his recent unwanted reliance on the media. He couldn't deny or explain to anyone why he was caught on two different occasions locking lips with Laura. Especially when this second one was conscious and planned.
He sighed as his attention moved to a couple of months back when he wasn't on the media's hot topic. Those weeks and months where all he did was enjoy his privacy and traveled around with Ama...
He now preferred not to remember.
He wanted Amanda at the back of his mind and he would see to it.
Raymond was walking into Blazzers.
He always had a ready to wear suit in his car, so, after he concluded leaving the island, he got fully dressed in work clothes.
He wore his usual, a black suit with a tie, along with a dark designer shades.
He walked by as he noticed everyone going mute and acting busy.
He never really cared about what they were doing when he passed. He believed everyone in the organization had a superior, so it was their job, and most time when the subordinate made a mistake Which their direct superior didn't identify prior to the time queried, then they get to pay for it. So, everyone made sure to make sure that their subordinate was apt and prompt with their assigned roles.
He heard murmurs that he was sure came from women, but he paid them no mind, and rather, he just proceeded to take the elevator.
It was just a lady and then him there. He noticed how tensed the woman was because, for some reason, she felt the need to want to engage him in a conversation. Saying just anything to try to keep him impressed, but the truth was that he cared less. May he could be called a bad boss for totally ignoring the lady, but of all days to be jovial, that very day was not one of them
Lang had just left Amanda a few minutes ago. She was feeling way better now.
She touched a little makeup on her face, so it would cover up the fact that she had earlier cried.
She sat across her PC, unable to work. She was playing a game on the computer though it was not really his favorite thing to do, but at this moment, she hated the internet, she was consciously avoiding all those videos and pictures of Raymond and Laura because it was at every corner she looked.
Her face had raised, directed to the entrance of her office. Raymond walks into her office. He wore a stern look and she saw the sharpness of his jaw. She tried to comport herself and also fix her face to avoid any suspicion that she had cried.
'Not that he cared anyway ' she sat up, as her gaze followed him. He didn't utter any words, he just walked.
It was past three, and that was past when he closes on a normal day.
So, why didn't he just leave whatever it was for tomorrow? Not as if anything was urgent.
She thought she had been freed from today's taunting.
He reached the entrance of his office before speaking.
" Arrange the reports and bring them to me," he said before he proceeded with getting into his office.
