Chapter Eighty Five; Rage

She was by the hallway, but surprisingly, she saw Mark in one of the offices on that floor. The one and only office engineers had business on that floor.

She stopped, moving to the entrance to say hello.

"Hey, what's going on?" She asks.

"Oh, hey," Mark called out before he picked up a mini toolbox, and threw it into the bigger box.

'why was he packing,' she wondered.

"What's happening?" She asked again.

Mark looked up at her with a little smile.

"I was transferred," he said, casually throwing some pack of pens into the box.

"What do you mean you were transferred?" She asked with a much more intense tone.

"You were transferred to where?" She added as her displeasure was written all over her face and tone.

"To Toronto," he said.

"Look, I was calling to let you know, but since the last time we saw each other, we haven't been able to have a decent conversation."

Amanda was almost brought to tears, was he transferred because of her?

Was this just because of a harmless lunch break?

Changing someone's life because he couldn't just air out his problems?

He would need to start a whole new life in Toronto because of her?

Was he even familiar with Toronto or would he be like a stranger in that big city?

Why would Raymond go this far?

At this point, her tears somehow formed into anger.

She was pissed.

Raymond has absolutely no right to treat Mark like this, and she won't let him.

"Are you happy with it?" She asked.

She wanted to at least know if he was excited about it, if maybe he was better off there than here.

She watch his expression change, and she noticed that he was giving her question a thought.

He didn't need to think about it if he liked it, if he wanted this, it wouldn't be something he would take his time to think about if he liked the idea.

"Umm, I don't know..."

He sighed, dropping a piece of equipment into the box before trying to speak again

"I'm not sure, but..." He paused.

At this point, it was obvious that he didn't like this, and that made her anger even grow.

Oh, Raymond can't do this!

She stormed out of the place, and straight to the parking lot.

She drove faster than usual even though she was careful not to exceed the limit.

She was furious, she couldn't wait to get back, couldn't wait to see Raymond, she wouldn't let him do this or treat Mark like this!

She didn't even pack appropriately, she just stormed out of the car and went in search of Raymond.

She went straight to his room, but he wasn't there.

At this point, she wondered if his car was in the garage. She should have looked out for it, but she was too enraged to be looking out for a car.

She went to the dinner, and he was not there either.

"Where is he!" She muttered.

She ran into Margi whom she asked of Raymond.

She informed her that he was by the poolside, having a relaxing warm water swim.

'oh, he wanted to relax while he set another man's life on fire?'

She immediately left her and to the poolside, she went.

On reaching there, she saw the drenched Ray just standing about one step away from the pool. He was just in a short, with a towel hanging on his neck, his wet hair on his face as he was moving them away from his face.

She matched towards him in raging anger. A fit of anger she was sure to vent out. A wave of anger he would have every share of.

She got closer to him, as she noticed him notice her, but he just reached for the towel and began to wipe his face and neck with it.

"MARK IS NOT AND WILL NOT GO ANYWHERE!" She spoke, but he didn't react as he had heard her. He just continued with what he was doing.

Perhaps my statement had no base, maybe I should add some. She thought.

"You have no right, absolutely no right to transfer Mark to another branch, just because your fragile Ego was bruised,"

Right! Finally, she had his attention, because he paused moving his hand away from his face and just stared at her with a striking expression.

Well, having his attention only lasted for a few seconds, because he had continued wiping himself with the towel. Now it was his hair, but his gaze still managed to rest on her while he did that.

Oh, she wished to scream, maybe screaming out her lungs would make this boiling anger go subside.

Amanda's anger was too far in to take this sickening silence from Ray.

"What is it? I can't have lunch breaks with people? I can't date or go out with whomever I wanted?

When you, on the other side, was on every girl's wish list and you went around granting all their wishes." She now spoke with her usual voice toned down but was very petty with it.

"Maybe you think you are Santa, but it's not Christmas yet."

Raymond scoffed as a little smile curled up on one side of his lips.

She was petrified in anger, at this point, all her anger needed to satisfy itself was to at least be able to get him upset too, but no, the only result she had gotten was even a more consuming kind of rage, because why did he find her frustration amusing?

Her frustration was a pinch away from driving her to tears, this man knew how to oppress her without even saying a word.

"Mr. CEO, I'm not trying to be funny right now," she spoke in a frustrated tone, lifting her hand and subconsciously hitting his chest. He still maintained his stand and wasn't moved by her action.

She realized she hit him after she had already carried out the act, but she didn't regret it or even wish to take it back. Matter of fact, she didn't mind doing it again.

"He is not going anywhere, at least not because of me," her tone had somehow become softer.

She snapped out of her softer side one more time.

"ANSWER ME!" She yelled as tears rolled down her eyes.

"There was no question asked," Ray spoke calmly, but his calm tone even upset her the more.

She tried to hit him one more time, but he moved to the side, causing her to lose balance, she then fell into the pool.

The pool water was very warm, but it still sent a shiver through her body.

She swallowed as fear engulfed her.

She felt her heart move, like it was coming up to her throat. Her heartbeat began to palpitate as she began to struggle.

She was beginning to go down, she was beginning to gasp as she struggled.

Half her face was already in before she noticed a big splash in the water, which even made her struggle more as all her body was now underwater.

Raymond had caught her. She was in his arm now, she subconsciously held onto his body as they submerged from the water. She was gasping, she was yet to regain her breath. She noticed Ray look down at her a couple of times as he kept moving swiftly with her clinched to his body.

He reached one of the pool benches, gradually dropping her on it.

She had finally caught her breath, so she just tried to move her hair away from her face.

He reaches for a towel on one of the pool benches, handing it to her.

She took it, and shyly wiped her face with it.

If she was an animal, it would definitely be a chameleon, because the way her emotions changed colors every minute were not explainable.

He was squatting just beside her. A little distance separated them but their gaze didn't see distance as a barrier.

It started as a little awkward stare till it now became intense.

She was shy, and he noticed it.

She was beautiful, but unfortunately, this beauty now seemed to yearn for someone else.

All that mattered to her these last few minutes was the engineer.

Her speech about him; was that all she thought of him?

Did she think him an egomaniac?

He was never the person to exchange words with anyone. He preferred to be the only one speaking at a time, or vice versa. So, he had let her vent out all her displeasure. On which half of it, unfortunately, hurt his feelings and the other half he found amusing.

His gaze was still on her moist face, her hair was still over her face even though she tried getting them away from her face.

Her lips now parted, very moist and tempting even though he hated to admit it.

"Don't you think you were talking too much besides a pool, for someone who can't swim?"
