Chapter fifteen.

Elena's Pov.

Day Five.

"You seem to have gathered a large fan base for yourself, I wonder how they would react when you are signed to LSC." Her voice drifted to me.

"I'm happy about that, at least I'll have people to support me  when I get there, it just gives me a sense of assurance that I won't be going there without backing, fan love is really important, I now understand why people would do anything to be appreciated by the fans."I speculated.

I looked at the woman I was talking to, she was currently working on something on her laptop, she looked so serious that I didn't want to disturb her.

I slowly slipped away and opened the door, I went outside for a jog, a habit that had started to decline recently.

This was the first time that I had a close survey of the area, it was an estate and different houses were lined, it was a very clean cut place and I began to wonder who lived in the different houses that I passed, just to keep my mind occupied.

Soon I was at a park, I thought about the irony of life, this whole thing started on a hot afternoon at the park,  and now here I am on a hot afternoon at the park.

I plopped down on a bench and stretched my legs. I was enjoying the afternoon breeze as it wafted across and whipped through my hair, I was at peace.

A figure was approaching me, it was a woman, she was dressed in  loose fitting jean trousers and a cropped tank top with dark sun glasses, the only difference between what she was wearing and what I was dressed in, was that I paired my crop top with joggers rather that jeans.

"So you are the one". She said, staring down at me.

I was confused beyond measure.

"What?, that's weird, do I perhaps know you from somewhere Miss". I said as respectfully as I could muster.

She removed her sun glasses and looked at me directly.

"You are the new neighbor who turned down the invitation to attend the  party, which by the way was organized by me." She sneered.

"I'm sorry but what party are you talking about, because I definitely don't know about any party, not to talk of accepting it declining the invite, and did you follow me here just to tell me this?."

She seemed insulted, much to my dismay, because I never intended to seem rude, but I guess it hit her the wrong way.

"How dare you say that, I never followed you, you are not as important as that, I just happened to recognize you and as such decided to confront you to demand an explanation for declining to take part in the social activities of the estate owners." She was beet red, probably from embarrassment and rage.

"How did you recognize me then?, I do not think I have seen you before not to talk of speaking to you, maybe you are out for another person, not me, so I suggest you discontinue this argument". I was trying so hard to be polite, but she seemed to take anger at my cordiality.

"The security agents send a log of information to the various house owners in the estate when there is a new neighbor, this contains pictures of the supposed neighbor, occupation and many other valid information, to give a sense of safety to the house owners and you happen to be the newest neighbor, so I recognized you because I saw your photo." She explained.

"Then about the 'supposed party', how did you relay the information, because I am still lost". I made air quotations on "supposed party" using my index and middle fingers.

"Well, since your cell phone number was included in the file, I placed a call, which was answered by YOU, saying that you would not be attending the party as it was not necessary" she said, she was obviously not used to being denied anything, and the mere memory of it definitely made her face contort into a scowl.

I realized that Katie must have answered the phone call and declined the invite. I needed to look for a good cover up.

"Well I didn't mean to be rude, I was definitely having a bad day, so when you called, I could have as well thrown the phone away, though I transferred my frustration to you, I'm really sorry about that" I said, not willing to continue the discussion.

"Now that I think about it, you sounded much more different on the phone, almost stern." She observed.

I wanted so badly to bang my head in the bench I was currently sitting on.

"I just explained that I was having a really bad day, so obviously I would sound stern on seeing an unknown number calling me at that point" I didn't know why I kept explaining myself and trying to be polite, I guess I didn't want to have problems with the people around me.

"Well if you say so, I'll take your word for it" She was finally appeased, her face relaxed and I had a good look at her features, she was a pretty tall woman and  looked as if she was in her late twenties, she had deep baby blue eyes and pale blonde hair, she looked striking.

"I'm Elena, I guess you already know my name, you are?" I asked.

She looked as if she wanted to say something, but quickly decided against it and swallowed it down.

"I am Rosette, nice to finally meet you Elena" she smiled, and looked unsurprisingly good.

"Well Rosette you are definitely beautiful" I exclaimed.

"Funny how I was thinking the same about you" she complimented.

We talked for some time about different topics, and I found her to be quite nice, when she put her mind to it, but I did not feel a strong bond  or connection with her and did not want to push for any friendship, so whey Katie called, I was so relieved.

I answered the call and got a good scolding from Katie for sneaking away without  informing her before doing so, I listened to her as she went on and on like a mother scolding her little child for taking more than the appropriate amount of candy.

I bid Rosette goodbye and jogged back in the direction that I had come from.

Soon I was at the  apartment and Katie was waiting for me, arms at akimbo.

"You know you don't need to be so angry" I said slyly.

"Oh I am not angry, I am disappointed at you for your unruly behavior" she said and looked as if she had the urge to give me a good spanking.

"You know I have the mind to give you a good beating, to check your behavior, so that next time you would not do it again" she said confirming my suspicions.

" I am really sorry, you know, I would have come back earlier, I just wanted to stretch my legs a Little bit".

"That is what you have a treadmill for, isn't it".

"There is nothing as good as a little fresh air, I ran into someone who wanted to bite my head off for declining an invitation to a party which I didn't even know about".

"Well...." She started.

I raised my eyebrows.

"You didn't even inform me about the party, and I was there, bombarded for not attending the party which YOU declined, that me how fair is that?" I asked now turning the tables on her
