Chapter Twelve_ Discussions.

Elena's POV.

Day 1.

The weather outside was cold and dreary, with heavy rain and gray clouds, I just finished my workout session  with the gym instructor. I had a gym in the house (I was so shocked when Katie told me this), so I didn't need to go outdoors to go to the gym.

Now I was tired and all the bones in my body ached as if someone had smashed them into bits and pieces.

I was  currently in the library, reading a book called wuthering heights by Emily Bronte, I was so engrossed in the book that I didn't notice the shadow of the man in front of me.

"How are you faring"

I was so startled thaw my breath hitched and my heart started racing.

"You seem to be in the habit of startling me, first at the park and now here you are doing it again" I chided.

"And you do not seem to pay much attention to your environment, first at the park and now here you are doing it again" he hurled back.

"What are you doing here any ways" I interrogated.

"Well, I just thought to drop by and see if you had woken up from your fainting act." He ridiculed.

"Well, just so you know, I didn't faint from any sort of information overload, I was just too fatigued such that my whole body just shut down and refused to function" I said just to bring his ego down a little bit.

"If that is your coping mechanism or the excuse you use to convince yourself, then, sorry to burst your bubble but you definitely could not process any more information because of me. Jokes aside, it was beyond dramatic, I was like, ' I'm Lorenzo Shane Cole, founder of LSC groups', and you just went blank, I really thought you were a REALLY strong woman" He said, smirking his signature devilish smirk.

"Well then you thought wrong, but imagine yourself in my shoes, you would have DIED from the shock. I mean, everything happened so fast, it was as if I was dreaming".

"I do admit that I did rush the whole procedure, but I'm not one to dilly-dally nor play games, the contact was the main thing of interest and I had to see that it was addressed as soon as possible." He confessed.

"Oh now you see the light, it literally just happened in one day, I applaud myself for not considering myself mad or something" I smiled.

"It takes a strong woman to be able to do what you did"

"Now, I have a question for you" I proclaimed.

"Ask away" He answered.

"Supposing I'm asked by my colleagues or anyone else about my origin, like say my parents or where I come from, what do I say"

"You don't need to stress about that, everyone will view you as a young heiress whose family is abroad, parents are dead,no offense on that one, and who just wants to pursue her dream as an entertainer without staying where old and painful memories won't haunt you" He asserted.

" No offense taken, but supposing someone gets overly curious and decides to dig deeper and finds out that I have never ever crossed the border of this country, not to talk of having a family abroad, then what". I questioned.

"That person will not even be able to have doubts, let alone act on them." He intimated.

I believed everything he said, he was the CEO of LSC groups after all. My mind was at peace as I gazed at his features, he was always calm and composed and had everything under control, I wondered if he ever felt challenged at any task, probably not. He looked so tall and handsome, I couldn't even begin to describe his beauty.

"You could just take a picture with your new device, it would last longer and the quality would be just as exceptional as if you were seeing me in real life".He had obviously caught me staring.

"Your personal doctor should have advised you to not tickle your ego so much, it could be bad for your mental and emotional health you know" I sneered.

"I don't need to be  the one that tickles my large ego, your constant stares do that for me" He replied wittingly.

"It's pointless arguing with you" I said, heaving a sigh.

"That's because I always win, next time, come prepared. Do not jump head first into a battle of wits  with me" He said, probably doing a victory dance in his head.

"Hmph" I flipped my hair and returned to my book, not able to comprehend what was written.

"Go away, do not distract me, I am barely able to comprehend the passage because of your annoying presence."

"I am baffled at something you know" he started, and I closed the book with a slam, lifting my eyes to him.

"What now" I was impatient.

"Everyone else bows to me and cannot bear to look me in the eye, they all respect me as if I were a deity, people fall at my feet, but one particular person does not, she still manages to treat me as if I were some regular person even though she admires me a great deal, she fascinates me, that person is you, so now I want to ask, why don't you have the utmost fear for me?".

"First things first, I do not admire you a GREAT DEAL, you exaggerate too much, secondly, I do not want to treat you any different from how I would treat an acquaintance, because if I start bowing to you or fall at your feet, I would have to do that for as long as the contract lasts, that is one mistake I do not wish to make. By the way, you were the one who told me that every other person could fall at your feet, but I would be allowed to look you straight in the eye, because I am your partner and as such,we must walk side by side". I explained.

"Well it's not a really bad excuse, I must say." He said. "Where is your manager anyway, I haven't seen her" he muttered.

"Katie is down with a cold, so she is resting in one of the rooms upstairs."

"Katie?" He was bewildered, from his expression and tone, I could tell.

"Well, I thought that our relationship can be more bearable if we got to know each other, so we sat down to play some games yesterday, and turns out, she is a very likeable person and we striked up a friendship, so figuring that Kate sounded so formal, I decided to give her a nickname, Katie, it sounds so informal and endearing don't you think?"

"That, is nine of my business and I refuse to meddle with whoever you chose to befriend." He stated. "How do you like your  new apartment".

"Well, for starters, it is massive, this place is just to huge for me to be living in it alone, I was thinking of inviting Katie to come live with me, but I didn't know if it would be okay with you so I refrained from asking her".

"Are you a dunce,or what part of ' Your Apartment' did you not understand. It is yours to do as you please, you might as well sell it and I wouldn't stop you, it is yours and yours alone, you can make.any decision regarding your property".

"So then I didn't really need your permission, I can just go over and invite her right this instant" I said uncertainly.

With that, he facepalmed himself and looked so impatient that I fancied he was slapping me in his subconscious right now.

I turned away from him and looked outside to see the rain coming down in torrents and hitting the window panes. I was remorseful, because I had not been completely honest with him about Katie's sudden illness or the cause of it. Katie came down with the cold, because I had pleaded with her to go to my former apartment and workplace (wearing a disguise) and just see everything going on there so she could relay them to me. The rain had started pouring while she was at it and she had no choice but to get drenched in her costume, because she had parked her car somewhere farther away, to avoid suspicion, she got so drenched during this adventure that by the time she came back, she was already showing symptoms of severe cold, I was sorry for having sent her on a fools errand,as the whole trip had almost not yielded any results, almost.
