“Ify, can’t you do this for your cousin and your friend as well? Lanre is already having difficulties because of her menstrual cramps. Yet, she is still being productive. You should fill in for her”. Anita’s mother said. Then she went ahead to help her daughter wear her shoes.
If not that her husband wouldn’t let stranger’s to come into the main house, then one of the girls among those in the bridal train would have cine help out. But people were only allowed in strictly on invitation and for a professional course or an important issue. And if the person is family. Family also requires the closeness.
Lanre did Ify’s make up. This means that Lanre had done make up for twelve persons.
Ify stood up and thanked Lanre. Then she went to check herself out. She knows Lanre’s work is always trust worthy. She smiled seeing what has become of her face. She thanked Lanre once again.
Anita’s mother felt relieved that everything was set.
“My hair!” Anita screamed. Everyone turned to look at her wondering what was wrong. “I forgot to call the hair stylist”. She said looking at them pitifully.
Lanre sighed. “We can just style it somehow. I do not know how to style hair that much. I only braid hair”. Lanre said.
Anita felt hopeful. She looks at Lanre with hope in her eyes. Lanre bit her lips. At the end, they ended up falling back to her.
It was as if she was seeing the future when she had asked Anita if she has ever been disappointed before. Well, Anita did pick offence.
Now, she has gotten a full dosage of disappointment. And she had coupled it with hers, she had disappoint herself as well by not even calling the hair stylist to show up on her wedding day.
Lanre fixed Anita’s hair the best she could. Then she fixed the veil on her head.
Just then Anita’s mother’s phone rang. The woman picked it up. It was her husband. “Are you ladies coming out or not. I just received a call from those in the church that the priest is waiting for the bride”. Her husband said.
“Ah! We are coming already. Ngabia!” Anita’s mother said. Then she urged everyone to hurry.
They were getting late. And Anita’s mother was afraid of them arriving late. The priest is a strict man, he will leave if they should keep him waiting. And he was already waiting.
“Everyone, move it! It’s time to leave”. The woman said. She wasn’t going to take a long loo at her daughter the way she had earlier planned to do before her daughter is taken to the altar.
Ify had dressed up in the dress meant for the maid of honour. Carried the necessary things she needed to carry, both hers and Anita’s.
Lanre helped Anita hold her dress up as she walked out of the room. They all went outside. All ten girls for the bridal train were outside waiting already.
