Lanre looked at K confused. She wondered why he held flowers in his hands and that too, roses. She wanted to ask him what he was doing, but she couldn’t. Even his smile left her without words. She was indecisive of what to make of the situation at hand. It was as if she was watching a film when K got close to her and went on his knee.
“Kehinde, eni kilode?” She asked him what was going on. K told her to relax and just pay attention to him.
“I know we have barely known each other and this may not make sense. But I’m addicted to you. I hate addictions! I hate having one woman more than once. If I have her twice, then there was never going to be a third time”. K said to Lanre. He had paused to take in her disposition.
“Lanre, you have become a drug to me, and I found myself loving what I hate. You have become my addiction, one I wouldn’t want to let go. So, in the volumes of words and sentences that could have escaped my lips, I have chosen this very once and morphed it into a question even if it may not sound like one coz I may sound bossy and authoritative”. K said with a smile gracing his lips at the end.
“Miss Olayinka Olanrewaju, let’s get married!” Lanre find herself laughing at the end of K’s sentence. She thought he had said it would be a question even though it may not sound as one. But even the deaf would understand that this is clearly not a question.
“Kehinde, this doesn’t sound like a question”. Lanre said to him. Then she looked at him baffled she wanted to ask him how he knew her full name when he cuts in. He told her she could still say yes or no, it was not commanding, so it was a question. “No it is not!” She replied.
K looked at her, his gaze trying to penetrate through her eyes and probably reach her soul. But she turned her eyes away from his. “Ok!” K said. Then he resorted to make it sound like a question indeed.
“Miss Olayinka Olanrewaju, will you marry me?” K finally dropped the question. It sounded stupid in his ears asking like that. A simple “let’s get married” sounded better to him.
“No!” Lanre said to K. She gave him a tight smile as she said that. She really was not going to marry him. “Lanre, please!” He said to her. His eyes looked pleadingly at her. “Stop being cute okay! I know you are just playing around. You are not serious about this”. Lanre said. She thought he was possibly trying to fool her since they were in the month of April. She definitely can’t believe that he was proposing for real.
“Lanre I’m serious, I want us to get married. I want to have you within reach. I want to explore your body at will whenever and however. I want you all for myself!” K said to her making his intentions known.
