“You keep saying “your food”, as if you are not going to eat as well. Did you not order for yourself as well?” Lanre asked. K smiled. He told her he was eating for both of them while she was eating for herself alone.
Lanre raised her eyebrows at him questioningly while trying to figure out what he meant. As the realisation of that statement dawned on her, she blushed crimson red. K laughed seeing her blush. He thought she was extremely cute, just like a doll. But this is going to be the first doll he actually likes since he has never been a fan of that, not even as a kid. He hated those things.
“You are innocently sexy! That’s cute!” He said to her. Lanre rolled her eyes. But she could not push away the blush. It was as if she has been marked with it.
Lanre decided to focus on eating her food. She started eating first, but was the last to finish eating. She was always slow when it comes to eating. K had finished eating before her. She struggled to finish hers. “It is because it is rice. Assuming it was pounded yam or eba (food baked from grounded cassava), I would have finished before you”. Lanre said trying to cover up the fact that she was a slow eater. K just laughed.
He has seen her eat before now. She had eaten egusi and pounded yam the night he took her to his house, she was slow. So he did not need to argue with her. He would just let her feel she was not. If he should say anything, they will start arguing, and he might just shut her up even before she finish her food. He wanted her that bad.
Lanre finally finished eating. K called for room service, so that the plates can be taken away. Then he sat down and he started to discuss with Lanre. He focused on her life. He asked her what she was going to do after youth service. At first she was shy discussing herself with K. But soon, she became relaxed, just as she was with him when she had spent the weekend at his place.
Lanre told him that she was going to go for masters and after that, she would go for PhD. But she would have her own beauty parlour by the. The young lady that was part of Anita’s bridal train who asked her if she had a beauty parlour in Abuja had inspired her to want to have her own. She was going to also accept apprentice who she would give lessons on makeup. She was going to start that up before she goes for her master degree.
“That’s nice. But what if I say you shouldn’t do any of those now?”. K said to her. Just then the doorbell rang. K stood up and carried the plates outside and handed it over to the attendant. Then he returned to Lanre.
