When Last Did You See A Masquerade?

“I started this wanting her to chase me, now I feel like I’m doing the wrong thing. Would I really enjoy her fighting her friend just to get me?” K said. He was watching the night life in Lagos standing at the window of a suite at the top floor of a hotel.

“I should end this! Take her away, marry her by force and keep her by my side. I think I’m obsessed with her. Especially her body!” K said yet again. Christian laughed. K asked him what was funny that made him laugh.

“You sound more like a man in love than a man who just want a girl for her body”. Christian said. Kehinde frowned. “I don’t do that”. K said to Christian, something Christian refused to believe. Then he decided to taunt K.

“I think I know why you want her!” Christian said. “She’s hot, classically sexy! And damn, those long legs will do good wrapped around my waist while I dig in and out searching for every single treasure I can lay hold on. Would I even want to come out of her?” Christian said. He tapped his teeth continually with his finger as if in deep thoughts. K hits his head and worked away.

“Let’s go! It’s already time”. K said as they walked out. Christian wondered why K did not throw a punch at him. He smirked. It seems K cared less about the girl, that must be the reason he did not do anything other than playfully hitting his head.

………………………………

When K and Christian got to the hall for the event, everything looked normal, just as every party should be. There were drinks carried around by waiters and waitresses, ushers at strategic corners. Classic music played at the background. It was not his kind of party. But this is the kind every elite would claim they like. Deep down within them, they actually wanted a rock party or an alone time.

“Things we do to abandon our culture! When last did you see a masquerade?” K asked Christian. Christian creaked. He hated masquerade.

“Guy, I had a bad experience with a masquerade when I was a kid, so that ask me about that. I’m glad they are going into extinction”. Christian said. K smirked. It seems Christian must have been flogged by a masquerade before.

“It must be easy gathering so many people under a short notice since he is the governor”. K muttered. Christian told him it was a good advantage. “Your father is the governor, you should be proud. I don’t know why you are always at loggerheads with him”. Christian said.

“I’m not! I just don’t like being the Governor’s son. It’s annoying. I’m just waiting for Mr. Adewale to come back”. K said to Christian.

Just then a man came to his side and whispered something to his ears. K nodded and excused himself from Christian. Then he left with the man. It seems his father wanted to have a private chat with him.
