Lanre stifled when she heard the person’s voice on the phone. Her thumb immediately moved towards the red button to end the call. And as if K had read Lanre’s mind through the phone, he asked her not to end the call if she was the one that had picked up.
“Lanre please, if this is you do not end the call yet”. K had said. Seeing that the call was still ongoing, K immediately asked her where she was. At the same time, he tracked her location. He has been quite frustrated looking no where in particular, yet every where he could think of for her.
“Why? Is their a business you want to discuss with me about? I’m yet to be a certified journalist, so I know I do not have an interview with you. I do not make men up, so we can’t possibly have a business on that either. Why are you asking me where I am?” Lanre asked.
Rather than giving her an answer, he asked her if she was home. Lanre immediately looked back. Then she went out of the house to go check if he was close. But she did not see him.
“If it’s your house, then remain there”. K said. He had tracked her and saw that she was in Ibadan. He was fully aware that she’s from Ibadan. So he had guessed she was home. K immediately put a call through to Christian asking for his help.
“Chris, I need you to do me one last favour for today”. K said to Christian immediately the phone was picked.
“As the Governor of Lagos state, I want to see you at the government house in the next 30 minutes”. It was the Governor. K frowned. How did his father get to Christian. He even took possession of Christian’s phone.
K gritted his teeth. He could feel the blood gushing through this veins. He hits his hand on the steering wheel so hard that it kept honking until he stopped.
“Oga, you de craze? Abi you think say na only you de this Lagos? If you de craze, know say my own craze senior your grandfather o”. A bus driver yelled at K. He had parked his bus in front of K’s car and had thought K was horning because he wanted access to park his car in front or something. And wanted him to move out.
K apologised to the driver. “I’m so sorry!” K said. The bus driver looked at him as if he had taken something special from him.
“Na your papa you de sorry for! You de craze! Abeg carry your carton when you call car comot! You wan come oppress me? Before I become danfo driver, I don drive big cars pass, no be this carton when you de drive. I be big man o”. The bus driver said boasting of things he probably never had. K knew the man was no different from those men who feel intimidated by others and would want to act like they had something, something they never laid their hands on. He just reversed back a little and drove off.
