K was left in shock at his father’s threat. “You will kill her?” K asked. The Governor told him he makes good his words. K smirked at this moment. “Maybe you should try being a good father again, before you had joined politics, Mom said you were really good”. K said and then walked out of the Governor’s office not caring the blunder he had just done by leaving the Governor’s office in such a manner.
“I gave you a chance to turn down this engagement, but you must be a fool not to have seen it. I wonder what is going on inside that stubborn head of yours”. The Governor said. He shook his head.
“He does not know the difference between lust and love, what a fool”. The Governor said yet again. Then he sat down on his seat. His hand on his jaw. He made a call and asked for his secretary to come in.
The secretary arrived the Governor’s office. He asked the secretary to get Lanre’s complete details and send it to the national youth coppers service office. “Let her be posted in the south or in the north. But the south will be better”. The Governor said. Then he also asked the secretary to pay some amount of money that he thinks she could use to achieve something for herself. “She could invest if she is a wise girl”. The Governor had said again.
The secretary accepted this task and left. This was a way to divert Lanre’s interest from K. The Governor felt if she had something in mind she wanted to do, then she would not care about his son, Kehinde.
Meanwhile, over at Ibadan, Lanre waited for K. She did not want him to come, but in her heart, she wanted to see him. Maybe he still care for her. Maybe she misjudged him. Or perhaps she was trying to act blind to the facts laid before her very eyes. Nevertheless, she hoped he would come.
She stayed in the house without going out to get anything even if she wanted to. She wondered if he knew exactly where her house was since he asked her not to move an inch. She was tempted to send him her house address. But she had to refrain. She kept telling herself to have some pride.
She has waited out for over five hours. She heard a knock on the gate. She had locked it, so if he comes, he will have to knock for her to open. She didn’t know why, but she felt it will be quite lovely that she opens the gate for him. Well, she stood up running from the couch and out of the living room. She went to open the gate.
It was not who she was expecting. A frown crept into her face without her knowing. It was her mother.
“Why did you lock the gate with key? And what were you doing inside that I had to knock hundred times before you open the gate?”. The mother said. She had exaggerated the number of times she knocked.
