I Like It Here

At the end, Lanre got to meet with pearl who was all fire and brimstone if Lanre does not stay out of her family business. It took a slap from Lanre to shut Pearl up.

“You dare to send your kid sister into prostitution and you talk to me like you understand what family is truly all about? I warn you, if you ever try to cajole this girl into any shit and ruin her life I will make you wish you had a different life in a different planet”. Lanre had said to Pearl. Then she took out some money and handed over to Pearl.

“Start up a business with it or learn work with it. Just try and make your life honourable. I will take your sister. If you want her back, be honourable. But for now, Chidinma has a life to catch”. Lanre said. Then she pulled Chidinma along with her.

Pearl just looked as her sister was being dragged away from her. The lady has just said something that pierced her heart. Perhaps she didn’t think her kid sister was family before she was trying to send her to a guy who she was fully aware lives on drugs like cocaine and whatever that gets him high. They call it “highness”.

Pearl immediately saved the number Lanre had used to call her. She decided that she was just going to use the money Lanre gave to her for her personal use. She can’t give up her life. To her, there was no redemption for her kind. Her sister was lucky to have found a helper even before she started. If she had one in her own time, her aunt would not have forced her into prostitution. She turned and left while making a phone call.

“I will fill in for the chick you were supposed to pick up. She ran away”. Pearl said. It seems she was calling the guy who was coming to pick Chidinma up.

Meanwhile Chidinma left with Lanre with one hope, that she never gets to be pushed into a man’s hand.

End Of Flashback………..

“Chidinma collect one thousand naira from my bag, then drop the bag in my office. Be fast. The Uber driver is waiting for you”. Lanre said. Chidinma looked at Lanre confused. She was not told she would be going anywhere.

“You said you want to learn how to do pastries, I already paid. The Uber driver will take you there. I can’t go with you since today I have so many work to do”. Lanre said. Chidinma frowned. Lanre thought she would be happy. She asked Chidinma why she was looking so sad.

“I like it here! I’m already learning how to do make up. I’m already good at nail polishing”. Chidinma said. She did not want to go anywhere. She was actually feeling if she left, she would be alone.

Lanre shook her head. “Osiso! Before I smack your head”. Lanre said urging her to hurry. She would not change her mind because the girl was scared. She understood quite well Chidinma was scared.
