Lanre and Ify are roommates and students of the prestigious University of Nigeria Nsukka, Enugu state. While Lanre is a beautiful light skin girl from the city of Ibadan, Ify whose full name is Ifeoma is dark skinned from the coal city, Enugu and both are undergraduates studying Mass communication and are in their final year. 
Unlike Ify, Lanre is the wild type who has her eyes for extremely flashy things, so when a guy approached her and asked her to marry her, she thought he wanted to hinder her from leaving life to the fullest until she realised he was the governor's son and wanted him for herself. But he was already engaged to Ify. What price is Lanre willing to pay to marry the "Governor's Son"?

The Governor's Son Is Mine

“Aunty, should I run to the pharmacy or you will go to the hospital?” Chidinma asked a shivering Lanre. Even though the AC was no longer on, Lanre was still freezing. She had left it over night. And by the time she became conscious to the extreme humid atmosphere in the room, she was already freezing and could not get off the bed. It took Chidinma who noticed she was yet to leave the house to go and check on Lanre only to see her freezing. Chidinma had to turn off the air conditioner.

“No! No! Put it on heater instead, I will be fine after that”. Lanre managed to speak through her clattering teeth. Chidinma did exactly as she was told. Few minutes after the heater was put on, Lanre was still shivering. And the worst was she kept on sneezing. Chidinma felt frustrated seeing Lanre that way.

“Aunty na! Please let’s go to the hospital!” Chidinma cried. This was the first time she was seeing Lanre sick, and it was not good at all. Lanre shook her head stubbornly. Then she told Chidinma to get her phone for her. Then go prepare to go to work.

“Aunty I’m not going to work oh! I’m not leaving you like this. Besides, I don’t like the tutor again. What if she flogs me again?” Chidinma said. She seemed to be scared of the cake tutor now.

Lanre sighed. Waking up sick has made her forget what actually happened. She told Chidinma to stay back, but to stay in her room and not worry about her.

After an hour of lying in bed, Lanre forced herself out of bed. She was already late. She usually arrives the beauty parlour latest 9 am. But it was already 9 am and she was yet to get ready. She took her bath and dressed up for work. Immediately she stepped out of her room, she found Chidinma standing there. It had scared her, but she immediately composed herself.

“Why are you standing like that?” Lanre asked. Chidinma wore a smile. She told Lanre she made some sandwich for her. Lanre sighed. She had not thought of food, probably because she had no appetite at all. She told Chidinma to put it in a flask. Then she left with the food. She got outside to found out that the Uber she called for was yet to arrive. She decided to call a taxi.

“Aunty wait for me”. Chidinma called out running after Lanre once she had locked the door. She wanted to go with Lanre to the beauty parlour. But Lanre did not want her to come. Still, Chidinma did not back out. She felt she needed to be close to Lanre since Lanre was not feeling too well. At the end, they both left together.

Lanre decided to take a regular public bus since there was neither taxi around, nor did the Uber arrive. She had to cancel it as well. And by the time they got to the beauty shop, her clients were already there, those who had come for early morning bookings because they had an important place to go to, or just wanted to make up for fun.
