This Is Nigeria Baby!

Lanre felt her eyes getting wet. She immediately drove away the tears that threatened to fall. She turned around to meet his gaze.

“You can have me only for tonight. But after tonight, I will consider you and Ify my enemies. I will hurt her and make you feel the pain. Then I will make sure you don’t marry her, and you will lose me as well because I can’t marry my ex friend’s ex fiancé”. Lanre said.

K looked into her eyes, it seemed to be an abyss of endless darkness. He could not tell anything. She suddenly looked scary.

“Lanre, you can do whatever you want, but just know this, no other man will have you either”. K said capturing her lips in his. Lanre clung to him kissing him with the same energy he puts into kissing her. Just when it got heated, K withdrew his lips from her. She wanted to kiss him back again but refrained. She did not want to seem too desperate. But she was, she was desperate and stubborn. She promised her mom with her teeth but with her heart, she did otherwise. She just can’t stay away, especially not after this night, a night she was looking forward to.

K took of her clothes and turned on the shower only to his dismay, it was not functioning. Water did not rush out of it. He gritted his teeth and grunts. Lanre laughed.

“This is Nigeria baby! If it is not a five star hotel, and if it is not up to ten thousand naira per night, then forget it. Just expect any trash”. Lanre said. She pointed at a bucket that was placed under the tap. She opened the tap for water to go into the bucket. Then she took a small bowl placed there in place of a soap can and poured water on K who had only taken off his shirt.

“Hey!” K yelled. “I’m not doing that shit with you girl”. K said and walked out of the bathroom. He took the telephone and called the hotel management to complain about the shower and then demanded to change room.

“Sir all the showers in the bathrooms are working fine. Please hold on, I will send the hotel attendant to check it out for you Sir”. The hotel manager said before sending the hotel attendant to their hotel room. K asked Lanre to dress up before letting in the hotel attendant.

The hotel attendant turned opened pipe. He apologised for the inconvenience and told them that it was because the shower was turned off from the point it is connected to the tank. Lanre breathed in relief. At least the hotel was not that bad. K smirked at her.

“What did you say about Nigeria hotels again, especially the cheap ones? How many have you been to before?” He asked approaching her with steady footsteps while she steps back.

“I’ve only been to a hotel thrice and it is not what you think”. Lanre retorted.
