For The World To See

Lanre not wanting to be closed to K walked away from him. She was heading towards her room where she will lock herself in until Chidinma returns back from wherever she said she had gone to. She wonders if the girl did not know that they were humans when she locked them in.

“Lanre I’m sorry! I just happened to see a picture of you and thought I should have you. So I made Anita force you out of your nest in Nsukka. I really did not have any other plan back then aside from having you for just a while, quite not sorry for that”. K said. Lanre inserted her fingers in her ears to stop them from hearing what K was saying but she could still hear him.

“You looked sexy and hot. I wanted to see you in person. So I made her drop her best friend and use. It came as a shock to me when I did not see you dressed as the maid of honour. But then it was a relief when I sighted you at the wedding. I couldn’t wait to take you home, so I seduced you. It was a good thing you fell for me that day. So I had you to myself that weekend and wished it lasted for a week”. K said.

He wrapped his arms around Lanre’s shoulder and kissed the back of her neck.

“I was crazy when I agreed to carry on with the engagement, but That doesn’t mean I was totally wrong, you were Ify’s best friend and having her close is having you close as well”. K said. Lanre told him he reasons like a child. Then she pushes him away from her, but he took hold of her again.

“That’s because you rejected me! I was hoping you will come back on your knees and beg to be mine, but you are just so stubborn! You won’t! Rather, you are busy making money. You did not even let your jealousy out for the world to see. You were too calm taking it all in”. K said. This got Lanre laughing. As she laughed a spree of tears came running down her cheeks.

“Then you must have some sought of ego, you know? I mean, why would I do that when I’m not mad? I am not stupid to fool myself in public, who knows if you would reject me. And even if you won’t , I find it absurd doing such a thing”. Lanre said.

K hissed. She saying this was getting to him she meant to say his idea was absurd. It may have been. But it was his idea. He wanted her to run into his arms.

“I liked you! And I still do like you”. K said to her pulling her close and encasing her mouth with his. She mentally pushed hi away before she gathered physical strength to push him away. But her strength seem to have gone with the wind just as immediately it had come.
