Lanre crossed her leg over the other and just kept on watching Sharon clean the woman’s foot while Aisha took care of the hair. Pearl kept grinning from ear to ear wanting to ask Lanre of this was not the state’s women leader.
“If you will make this place a complete beauty parlour, then it will benefit you a lot! Employ people who are good in other things such as spa, body massage and all the rest. Then this beauty parlour will be complete”. Alhaja Fatima said to Lanre. Lanre smiled.
“Thank you ma! It is kind of you to give me such a good advice”. Lanre flashed her a smile. The woman just rolled her eyes.
“I guess it will also make me qualified to work for the Governor’s wife and be her advisor as a beauty artist”. Lanre said.
“If that is what you want! The Governor’s wife do always want to look young, even younger than her daughter. Olasile and I do not agree much, but I can help you get to her”. Alhaja Fatima said to Lanre. Then she asked Lanre what she studied in school, and Lanre wondered if that was necessary, but she answered anyway.
“Mass communication in the University of Nigeria Nsukka. I’m a first class graduate. But I won’t be going for service this year. I want to concentrate on my business first”. Lanre said to her. She seemed to have let out more than she was asked to.
The woman smiled. “You should register now that the form is still out. Registration is likely to end soon. I have a niece who just registered this week. She said it will end soon”. The woman said. Lanre asked her if she registered, who would take care of her business.
“You!” Alhaja Fatima said.
“You will do your youth service here in Lagos. I think Senator Ojo can help you resolve that. So you will be the one taking care of your business. So it is better you serve this here. And also, you should register into the “People’s Choice Party (PCP)”. It is senator Ojo’s party. He can give you full security and guarantee if you do register under his party”. Alhaja Fatima said to Lanre.
Lanre told the woman that things can’t work well for them that way. “I would rather register into the same party with our present governor, All Progressive Union of Servitudes. Lanre said. That was currently the ruling party in the country. But rather than being servitudes as the party’s name implies, they turned out to be exploiting the country.
“Why?” Alhaja asked. Lanre told her her reason was obvious. She wants to be on the side of the Governor. Then she stood up and walked closer to inspect what the girls were doing.
“You are all doing a perfect job. This is a client we mustn’t let loose. She has loads of money and will never lower the price”. Lanre said.
“I’m ambitious”. Lanre said. Alhaja Fatima immediately understood what Lanre meant. It was a good thing Lanre was ambitious. It would be easy to use her.
