“You almost killed your sister, and you think she’s a witch because one stupid and sick money hungry pastor that has not been able to solve his own problems told you so. You must be a lunatic. People like you should not be in the navy. Even my mother does not use her connection to remove you, I will. Of your mother begs me, I may spare you and not take you to court. But you will definitely lose your job”. Gozie said before walking out of the house. So it was because a pastor had told him his sister is a witch, he tried to kill her. The mother will be way too devastated if she heard of this.
Gozie got back to the hospital. He offered to stay with Lanre and the mother should go home and rest. But Mrs. Olayinka refused. She could not leave her daughter. She was not leaving the hospital without her daughter. She was ready to stay until Lanre has recovered. It took Mrs. Okafor to convince the aggrieved mother to go home and that Lanre will be fine.
Mrs. Olayinka got home and found Olamide sitting on the floor just as he has been when Gozie had come to confront him.
“What are you still doing here? Are you waiting to hear that your sister died? Lanre will never forgive you this one Olamide. She has a bad mouth but has a good heart, but you just killed that. Olanrewaju will never want to hear your name again”. Mrs. Olayinka said to her son. Olamide looked down and placed his hand on his feet.
“They told me in church that she is a witch and the reason I never got a promotion. Now these people threatened to use their connection to make me lose my job if Lanre refuse to marry their son. They made me come here. I do not even know how they got my contact or how they knew I am related to that witch”. Olamide said. Mrs. Olayinka lamped him a slap across his face.
“Get out from my house! I don’t want to see you ever again. You and that pastor that called my daughter a witch, you bought need deliverance”. Mrs. Olayinka said. She told Olamide that if by the time she comes out of her room and he was still in the house, she will call the police to take him away. Olamide felt dumbfounded. Was this the way his mother would shove him out of her life.
“Iyami, because of that witch?” Olamide said.
“That witch is my daughter! That girl you call witch is the reason you are alive in this house. You would have been long dead or suffering by now. Olanrewaju Olayinka is the fortune of this family. Do you think your father had a good life? We were suffering until I gave birth to her. She attracted good luck to our family. It was due to her birth we were able to see food. Her birth brought us luck. Why do you think we named her Olanrewaju?” The mother said. She was visibly angry.
