Lanre and Ify are roommates and students of the prestigious University of Nigeria Nsukka, Enugu state. While Lanre is a beautiful light skin girl from the city of Ibadan, Ify whose full name is Ifeoma is dark skinned from the coal city, Enugu and both are undergraduates studying Mass communication and are in their final year. 
Unlike Ify, Lanre is the wild type who has her eyes for extremely flashy things, so when a guy approached her and asked her to marry her, she thought he wanted to hinder her from leaving life to the fullest until she realised he was the governor's son and wanted him for herself. But he was already engaged to Ify. What price is Lanre willing to pay to marry the "Governor's Son"?

The Governor's Son Is Mine

Christian carried Lanre to their table. While K wanted to look anywhere but at them. Ify noticed this. “They look perfect together, don’t they? Just like us, we are perfect for each other”. Ify said. K did not reply her. Instead he dropped his fork and knife. He had lost his appetite. He urged Ify to eat fast telling her he has to be at work early to supervise the builders. Ify doubts it was because of his work he was hurrying her or it was because he was not comfortable seeing Lanre together with Christian. Ify asked him not to hurry her as she wouldn’t want to choke on her food.

Despite K trying hard not to look at Lanre and Christian, he still could not help but noticed the way Christian attended to Lanre. And when their order came in, he felt infuriated as Christian fed Lanre. He abruptly stands up from the table.

He told Ify he was going to use the rest room. Ify furrows her brows at him. “I’m done eating. Besides, it’s an emergency”. K said and left. Ify gritted her teeth.

“Coward!” She muttered. She thought he would overlook Lanre being with Christian, but it seems it was getting him riled up. But then, she believes if he constantly gets to see them, he will forget about Lanre. Just then Ify noticed Christian leaving as well. She turned to see Lanre comfortably seated eating her food.

“You are quick to jump bed Lanre! But it is a good thing you decided to leave K. I never knew you would give up so easily”. Ify said but Lanre did not reply her. Ify scoffs. She thought as much, 'once a snub, always a snub’.

“Your attitude won’t get you anywhere in life. And just so you know, K’s mine, so stick to your Christian or you scram off to another loser like you”. Ify said. Lanre burst into laughter. She laughed to the point she almost choked on her food.

“Some birds sing beautifully. But this one is a comedy”. Lanre said before wiping her mouth with a napkin. Then she looks up at Ify.

“Don’t you know when I’m not in the mode to talk? Please shut up so you don’t spit into your food, I feel for your system eating back the disease you released”. Lanre said before putting back her focus on the food in front of her. Ify bit her lips. Just as always, if she manages to say a word, it would be demeaning.

“I hate you!” Ify said out loud to Lanre. Lanre told her she has knowledge of it. Then she stood up and with her bag, she walked away mumbling words like Ify won’t let her eat in peace. Just as she got to the door, she ended up bumping into K. K had grabbed her hand clearing forgetting Ify was there.

A smug look appeared on Lanre’s face. As she said, “I told you”, she steps on his shoe pressing her heels into his foot just to hurt him. He immediately let’s go off her as a result of the pain. Lanre walked away without saying anything.
