She Will Send Them Money

Ebitari told her brother she was the one. Then she told him the number belongs to her madam and that she was calling him with her madam’s phone. She asked him if he was at home, he told her he was.

“I de house na! Where I wan go again for this life?” He said to her telling her he was at home and there was no where else he could be. Lanre instructed Ebitari to tell him to gather whosoever was in the house including her parents that her madam wants to talk to them because she was interested in helping them. Ebitari did just that, but her mind was not at rest. She wonders what her madam could be up to. Or was she really going to help them?

Soon everyone gathered except for two of her siblings who were not at home. Even the little ones were present. Then they put the phone on loudspeaker so everyone could hear what the madam has to say. Lanre requested her phone back from Ebitari. She puts the phone on loudspeaker as well and dropped it on the table. She told Ebitari to take a pen and write out the names of all her siblings from the eldest to the youngest. While Ebitari was on that, Lanre was greeting everyone over the phone especially Ebitari’s parents.

“I believe you all understand English?” Lanre asked after greeting them. Some said they do, it was just the mother who said she could not understand much of English. Lanre said she would use it anyway.

“My name is Olanrewaju Olayinka! I’m from Yoruba and I am the lady who gave your daughter a job”. Lanre said. She wore a serious face. She told them that she has heard from their daughter and sister how they have been on her neck all for money.

“Wow! Seriously! I will do something very quick with all of Ebitari’s siblings. After that I will get to you both mommy and daddy”. Lanre said. She told them that after she was done talking, she will send them money and all they needed to do was listen to her, nobody was allowed to talk back at her or end the call when she is not dove talking. If they did that, then they could forget about getting money from her or Ebitari. So they all were calm and quiet as the dessert.

Lanre told Ebitari to give her the name of the first son. So she was calling the names repeatedly after Ebitari and if the person was present there, he or she would answer and she would tell them what she wanted to tell them. She started with the first born son. She asked him if he would like to get married someday and have kids. He said yes. She asked him if he would love to have a son who drank himself to stupor and sleeps does nothing in his life, he told her no. She asked him if he would be happy if one of his little sibling slapped him across the face, he said no as well.
